I'm currently 9th month pregnant and my husband and I find your course really informative and helpful! Tearing is something that I fear a lot, but as you say: The more you know, the less your fear! And hopefully it's more like : The more you know, the less you tear!😄
I was terrified of tearing….the pain of birth didn’t scare me but that did! I ended up having a second degree tear and it was not bad at all for me. I didn’t do any pain medication during birth so the contractions far outweighed the tearing pain. I did not even feel it happening and it healed well/quickly. Wishing you and your baby the best!
@@chloemurphy-ritland2110 thank you so much for sharing your experience! I'm the same, feeling more scared of tearing than the pain of contractions! Hearing experiences like yours calmes me down. Thank you for your wishes 🙏❤
@@Ingridinbox519 I'll echo what Chloe said above. I was more scared of tearing and honestly stitches than I was of labor. I also had two unmedicated/natural births and tore both times but in the moment I didn't feel the tearing. I was informed after birth of the tear. Immediately after birth, all of the beneficial hormones like oxytocin took over and the relief was immediate, so when it comes to tearing (at least in my experience), it is an incredibly short moment at the end of labor. :) Try not to be too scared!

Thank you for this video. I had my baby 2 weeks ago and I didn’t have any tearing. I pushed my baby out in 15 minutes!! I watched all your videos to prepare.
My baby is almost 8 months old now. Because of your videos I was able to breathe through 8cm of labor before I asked for an epidural. My goal wasn't to not have one, but try to be as comfortable as I could before I asked for one because my anxiety for the epidural was so overwhelming. And when the epidural only worked on one half of my body, I was able to get through it thanks to some of the mantras you taught us. I got him out in 5 pushes 💪 and the nurses thought I was a marathon runner because of how steady my heart rate stayed through my entire 7 hours of labor. Thanks so much for helping make me feel in control and happy with my labor. My first was traumatic for me so being able to prepare myself better this time meant so much. ❤️❤️❤️
100% with that fear thing. Though I ddnt tear with my first and she was only 6lbs it was unbearably painful, I cried all through it and was scared shitless!! My second birth was 100% better almost no pain and faster. He was heavier 8lbs. Key: No fear. Seriously guys. Its the fear that makes it so much more painful thus likely to tear. Just listen to your body and go with it. Both natural births.
I had no fear at all and went in with intention of a natural birth. After 9cm dilated I thought I was stabbed in my butt and started screaming. I tore through to my anus and had a 4th degree tear. The surgery took more than 3 hours to repair and I was incontinent for weeks with a newborn. I’m small and my son was 9.2lbs. Fear had nothing to do with what happened to me.
I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have been bingeing your videos for a few weeks now. I have to give birth in a hospital because of a disability but I feel like a lot of your videos are going to make the process smoother for me. Thanks!
I have labors that are fast and furious. My first I only pushed for 35 minutes and for my second it was maybe 15 minutes. Because things were progressing so fast, I didn't have the time to slowly let myself stretch and ended up with a second degree tear both times. Recovery was easier the second time as the midwife who stitched me didn't stitch it quite so tightly. For pregnant women who are scared of tearing, I will say that for my second degree tears I didn't realize I was tearing when I was in the middle of it. And after the baby is born the relief was pretty much immediate. So, even if you do tear, it may not be as bad as you're worried about!
Same for me! And I had a fourth degree, with no painkillers during birth. The hardest part of any of it for me was the immediate 3 weeks of postpartum recovery.
Agreed! I had a third degree tear that required stitches but I didn’t feel anything during birth (and I didn’t have time for any pain relief). I felt the needle go through as freezing hadn’t quite kicked in but it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. The most discomfort I felt was honestly bumpy car rides in the following couple of weeks.
@@laurenharris9510 Both of my births were unmedicated. I feel like my first was slightly less intense because I was able to labor and push in the water at a birth center. My second was at a hospital and unfortunately I didn't get to labor in the tub (plus they don't allow birthing in the water there) but that was pretty much due to me going from 5cm to pushing in about 45 minutes. 😅 I will say that being able to labor and push in whichever position I wanted was pretty amazing for pain management.
@@monalisa7 Oh! I totally get you on the bumpy car ride!! My trip home from the hospital was along a part of the highway that isn't very well maintained and needs work. Plus some train tracks. My husband was a really good sport when driving and took them as easily as he could. At least it was a pretty quick trip, only 25 minutes or so. :)
I had a 3rd degree tear 8 years ago. It was awful! Nurse told me in passing that I tore. They didn’t give me much info but insisted I take narcotics for the pain because it hurt so bad. I had no idea I should have seen a pelvic floor therapist. I have been having issues for all the years. 😢 I am going to to research those therapists in my area.

I was terrified of tearing and watched loads of your videos to try and avoid this as much as possible. Although I was supposed to have a home water birth, my midwife had me to go to the hospital as an emergency to get oxytocin, in fear I would faint due to prolonged labor, even though I was already dilated at 8cm when she advised this. I gave birth to my first baby in a hospital delivery bed sitting up with support, my knees pushed towards me and was asked to hold my breath while pushing out. I had a strange first degree tear. It was a very shallow internal tear close to the vaginal opening near my left leg rather than close to the perineum. I was sewn up and healed up in a week without any infection, my midwives gave me daily examinations. Things didn't go as planned or expected, but recovery wasn't bad at all in the end.
This is such a great video. Im a first time mom and I am trying to make sure I am prepared as much as possible for everything that could happen. Thanks for the detail information!
That's wonderful to hear! I had 1st degree with 1st, and I just had a 2nd degree tear with second. I was curious if it would definitely be worse with subsequent births.
I had a 3rd degree with my first, had to be cut with the second, but had no tearing and didn't need to be cut with my 3rd.I also had my 3rd baby natural and asked for no intervention from Drs unless it was an emergency. My Dr literally stood against the wall and said and did nothing until my son was out lol. This current pregnancy,I hope for the same outcome as the 3rd.

Hi! Can you post a video specifically for mothers who want to get pregnant within the year with things they should do physically beforehand to prepare for pregnancy and labour? Your birth tips are great, but anything else like exercises to do before pregnancy would be much appreciated
Thank you so much for this video!! I had a 4th degree with my first (they had me deliver on my back and holding my breath during contractions) and I'm heading toward my next birth at the end of October. The timing couldn't have been better!! 💕
Hoping to delivery better this time. Had a bad 2nd degree tear (almost to the anus) for a tiny baby due to vaginismus. It’s such a defeating condition. Giving birth got rid of my condition, but it took me 3 whole months to not feel pain during the healing process, and a few more weeks after to resume normal activity. Fingers crossed for this birth in Nov!
I got episiotomy in my first delivery Now I am 7 month pregnant with my second baby Can you please tell me that what position is best for me now to avoid tearing and easy less pain delivery??
Oddly enough, even though I had every intention of pushing in another position, the most comfortable position was on my back. I was really surprised by that! On my side was TORTURE and all fours wasn’t working either. So strange to me! 🤷♀️
I had an episiotomy with my first and and a 4th degree tear with my second. I’m expecting my 3rd any day now and am so scared of tearing/the recovery down there; it took months to be able to sit without a donut pillow and no pain after delivering my 2nd. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge Bridget! 🤍
I had an unplanned hospital birth and a homebirth for my second. The epidural just slows birth down significantly and did not feel any different than no epidural. I also got spinal nerve damage from the epidural. I ripped much more birthing in hospital. Rushing through the end I will avoid for my 3rd.
Thank you! There's also EPI-NO to stretch the perineum but unfortunately not available in US due to FDA bureaucracy. US is really backwards in regards to healthcare, specifically baby delivery and post partum mother care.
Lovely video 🤗! I tore second degree with both of my vaginal births, but even still I’d take that over a C-section ANY DAY🙏🏿! I’m a doula also sharing motherhood tips on my channel as well❤️!
I didn't know what was going on with my first birth but my delivery nurse was stretching me. Not sure which degree of tear I had, but I did not receive stitches although at my 6 week checkup, the Dr (a different dr) said I should have had stitches. Now I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my 2nd so nor sure what this all means. Will bring it up to my Dr
I'm 37 weeks pregnant. Doctor said my babys head is a bit big (around 10 days bigger than normal). Doctor wants to induce in 39 weeks. Should I wait for natural birth or should I get induced? Please help.
Im commenting to watch later. . Im sure she gave all of the mosy amazing advice i love this channe. But in short. Its possible! My first i tore so bad i needed multiple stitches and pain meds. My second not even a slight tear!
How do I know what degree of a tear I had? No one ever told me. I had 4 or 5 stitches and my baby was big-10lbs. I also now have a rectocele which my obgyn said was probably caused by having a 10lb baby and also pushing for so long with him (4 hours) and now being so big at 37 weeks. They are confident I’ll be able to have another vaginally, unmediated birth though!
I’m due with my second in January 2022, & I’ve been so nervous about this. I had an episiotomy that I did not consent to, & now I can still feel some irritation in the area where it has healed. I’m just so worried that now my chances of tearing might be higher since I’ve had a previous episiotomy (that appears to have healed weird), & google does not help😭
We are due about the same time!:) I had an episiotomy with my first as well, and my obgyn was saying most likely would tear again/need another episiotomy HOWEVER I called around some midwife centers and they said that is definitely not true and they have seen many births that went “normal” in that aspect or had minimal tearing. I think doctors will always say different things from midwives/doulas so definitely get some second opinions and also trust yourself and your body:) it does amazing things and finds ways around obstacles even when things haven’t been done properly. I think according to google that is..an episiotomy is equal to about a second degree. Some things I’m doing to help my body is drinking raspberry leaf and nettle tea…perineal massage, and vitamin E oil. We got this!
Ouch 😣 I had a small labial “nick” and that was sore. Did anyone else notice their clitoris got really small for several month PP? I guess maybe swelling of everything else made it disappear but I had never heard that could happen so I freaked out at first.
Why can't I find any video or info on labial tearing during birth? It's only perineal tearing everywhere. :/ I've had labial tearing with my first baby and was hoping to find some tips to avoid this at my second birth in a few months.
I used the Epi-No, and it prevented me tearing! Highly recommend or at least a form of it. It’s a balloon you blow up inside the vagina to gently stretch the perineum starting at 35 weeks.
@@julieturner8128 I hope you do! It was amazing. There’s a version of it on Amazon that’s black and it’s not advertised for perineum stretching but for…intimate experiences. Of course when you look at the reviews, many women have used it for stretching the perineum instead of sex. It’s not meant to be painful. The idea is just like prepping to do the splits. You’ll hurt yourself by trying to do the splits without stretching over many weeks time trying to accomplish the splits. You’re supposed to blow up the balloon just until you feel the stretch. Slightly uncomfortable but not painful. You’ll hold it there for as long as you can, maybe a few minutes, and then stop. I also used oil down there while doing this. You’ll do this every OTHER day and ultimately you’ll be able to inflate the balloon more and more as time goes by. On the days I didn’t do it, I used evening primrose oil up the vagina (but you shouldn’t do that until you’re at 38 weeks I think due to the fact that it ripens your cervix and you wouldn’t want it doing that too early)
Please send the link to the balloon you used on Amazon!!! I’ve read mixed reviews on all the anal inflation balloons on there and I dunno which one to go with!!
I had a traumatic first birth (vaginal) and had third-degree tears... And for my second birth i had zero tears..by breathing my baby out.. Dr. wanted me to push and not breathe my baby out but i didn't listen to him... It was hard only because he was preasuring me so much to push... But like i mentioned i didn't listen to him.. i wasn't supposed to give birth at that hospital but that day i didn't have an option since the one i was suposed to go to was closed.. (it's a private small hospital in México and that day it was a holiday and i didn't have my obgyn's cell number) so i ended up going to the one that was open.. but yeah breathing out baby helps a lot with not tearing.. sorry this is so long
Oh gosh. Me too, I tore upwards with both my babies, the second one tore through my urethra. I didn’t know it happened in degrees, no one ever spoke to me about physical therapy afterwards.
This happened to me as well as my labia ripped into pierces with chunks ripping out . I have major birth trauma. It disfigured me and I never see anything about these kinds of tears 😔
I tore quite a bit with my first pregnancy and needed stitches with a rough recovery I’m due with my second baby and have an induction scheduled in two weeks because my daughter was bigger and don’t want my baby to be as big and tear as bad this time
My first birth was 15 years ago. 3 world country. My inner labia ripped into pieces and chunks ripped off . It was horrific. I have never had another child due to birth trauma. I’m not sure if I tore elsewhere because I had very poor aftercare. She stitched me but they fell out the next day and I was told nothing 😔 I’m so scared to tear again
My first birth my child was only 2.4kg and had a small tear that didn't require stitches, 2nd child 2.7kg didn't had any tear at all. I only do walking every day thats it.
For me, I had a 4th degree tear two times. But I think I'll have another vaginal birth.. haven't decided yet. I just have too much to take care of at home to have a major abdominal surgery.. and the second tear was MUCH easier to heal from. Now from the first I didn't heal properly, not my OB's fault though. So I still have issues that I'll have to have surgery to fix. But I want to wait until I'm done having children
Almost 7 minutes into the video you mention how to sleep. Where do I find resources on this? I’d love to take your course but we already completed the one our birth center mandated and can’t afford another. Please help, I’m 36 weeks.

After birthing my second baby I got a torn labia minora... 😔 the doctor said it doesn't require stitches but now it's got my vagina looking and feeling onesidedly abnormal 🤷♀️🤣🤣
I have a 3rd degree tear and a long painful recovery with my first. Having a hard time deciding what to do with my 2nd (34 weeks) and he is just as big. Schedule a cesarean or try again?
I got my daughter out in 2 pushes "practice pushes" I might add. I tore on the side of my vagina and required 2 stitches... I wonder what will happen this next time
Had no idea you could have internal 3rd degree. I had vaginal rupture...im not sure which degree that is :/ do you mind sharing? Hiw did it go with your baby twins, cngratulations btw!?
Have you heard of baby wearing? You wrap the baby onto your body. It will free up your hands to be able to do housework while she sleeps close to your chest.
I’m so sorry! That’s so hard! My baby did the same thing for a while and she didn’t like the carrier either although do try it because it is really nice when they do! What worked for me was to just keep trying. I kept laying her down as much as I could and eventually she got used to it. I really hope it gets better for you soon! It won’t last forever! 🤍
I hope you had a healing birth
I had an unplanned hospital birth and a homebirth for my second. The epidural just slows birth down significantly and did not feel any different than no epidural. I also got spinal nerve damage from the epidural. I ripped much more birthing in hospital. Rushing through the end I will avoid for my 3rd.
Thank you! There's also EPI-NO to stretch the perineum but unfortunately not available in US due to FDA bureaucracy. US is really backwards in regards to healthcare, specifically baby delivery and post partum mother care.
Thanks much for the video, I'm giving my tip to myself after two babies, don't have more, so no more tears
Lovely video 🤗! I tore second degree with both of my vaginal births, but even still I’d take that over a C-section ANY DAY🙏🏿! I’m a doula also sharing motherhood tips on my channel as well❤️!
God Bless you honestly 🙏🏾
Good breathing techniques are incredible for our health and wellbeing because they actually work!
Im commenting to watch later. .
Im sure she gave all of the mosy amazing advice i love this channe.
But in short. Its possible!
My first i tore so bad i needed multiple stitches and pain meds.
My second not even a slight tear!
Go to a pelvic physio if you can!!
I never hear anyone talk about the type of tear I experienced. I tore UP all the way and have permanent split labia. Ugh! 😢
How did it work out for you gzys
What about tearing up? Rather then tearing down ? That happened with my first labor
That happened to me too... the worst 🙃 I never tore again though!
I would like to chat! My inner labia tore and ripped into pieces. Chunks ripped out. It was horrific. It Disfigured me. I never see anything about it.
I used the Epi-No, and it prevented me tearing! Highly recommend or at least a form of it. It’s a balloon you blow up inside the vagina to gently stretch the perineum starting at 35 weeks.
I’d love to try this ! How was the pain from the balloon?
@@AllysonWonderlandd thank you so much ! This was so helpful you are the best !!!
Oh wow! Can you drop the Amazon link to the balloon?!!
Please send the link to the balloon you used on Amazon!!! I’ve read mixed reviews on all the anal inflation balloons on there and I dunno which one to go with!!
Thank you sooo much for all this information!!!
Tips on increasing chances of pregnancy??????
I had a traumatic first birth (vaginal) and had third-degree tears... And for my second birth i had zero tears..by breathing my baby out.. Dr. wanted me to push and not breathe my baby out but i didn't listen to him... It was hard only because he was preasuring me so much to push... But like i mentioned i didn't listen to him.. i wasn't supposed to give birth at that hospital but that day i didn't have an option since the one i was suposed to go to was closed.. (it's a private small hospital in México and that day it was a holiday and i didn't have my obgyn's cell number) so i ended up going to the one that was open.. but yeah breathing out baby helps a lot with not tearing.. sorry this is so long
Okay, but can you make a video on tears by the urethra/clitoris?
I had a second degree tear and tore on both sides by my urethra area. 🤦♀️
I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope you managed to recover. ❤
Hi bridget, just wanted to say, your videos always help me calm myself, I am currently entering my 7th month and I have a lot of pain in my pubic bones or vulva area, can you suggest some exercises to relieve pain down there..
It would be of such a great help.
Thank you for doing what you do.
Is squatting , good to avoid tearing?🙂
She said to avoid squatting
My baby according to my OB has a really big head. Is it possible to avoid 3-4rth degree tear??
Thank u for this video..been subscribing all ur vlogs since I got pregnant til now that I'm on my 9th month..reli so helpful. Thank u momma..will it be alright if perineal massage will not be applied? Just worried, I might get vaginal infections if I do it..Hope this will be noticed.. Thank u momma..
I would like to know if you teared during your labor . Lots of love from Germany !
Hey guys the course is $299 😳
I tore in the front where you pee from around that area is that the same thing ? What would that be called because I never really asked and everyone else tore different nothing like mine I’m confused 😬
Have you done a video on VBAC?
The less you fear the less you tear..
Hi! What did you do at the end?? Same here!!
I got my daughter out in 2 pushes "practice pushes" I might add. I tore on the side of my vagina and required 2 stitches... I wonder what will happen this next time
Why tear in the first place? Does that mean that the body isent well equipped to give birth?
Could you talk about internal tears? I had a 3rd degree internal tear. I will be having a vaginal birth soon with my twins!
Had no idea you could have internal 3rd degree. I had vaginal rupture...im not sure which degree that is :/ do you mind sharing?
Hiw did it go with your baby twins, cngratulations btw!?
❤thanks!
Love it!
Hi my 21 days baby girl make a habbit to sleep in my lap. On my chest or on my husband chest. How can we change her habbit
You can learn about diaphragmatic breathing for free on the ultimate baby podcast.
Pls help me. I can't hold her whole day. I have to do housework when my husband went for work. I am alone have no family member with me
I’m so sorry. Try getting a baby carrier and a bouncer or boppy pillow to set her down in sight.
I’ll be praying for you! 🤍
Have your husband help you when he comes back and try baby wearing during the day!
@@rahatamna9605 yeah he did. He is very supportive
Man, I wish I had this video 6 years ago when I had my daughter. I had to be induced with her and the birth was so fast, that I got a 3rd tear tear and bled a lot. I didn't have an epidural...mostly because there was no time. Luckily my recovery went smoothly, though I wonder if I should have been referred for some rehab? Anyways, I'm 5 months pregnant now with my second and terrified of having another bad or worse tear. On to Part 2 of your series I go....
How many weeks/month it took to heal?
🌹
You talk tooooo much, just go straight to the topic please.
Whaaat...I feel like she speaks intentionally
Good video....BUT, GEES LADY, do you talk constantly like this in real life? ...take a breath and pause once in awhile...you wear the listener OUT!!!
If you have an apesiatomy, are you more likely to tear?
