    Dr. Berg said eating chia seeds in gel firm is the best for our gut biom- I watched a video that we need to activate the chia seeds and to do make like gel consistency. Take 1 tbs of chia seed, and add 3 tbs of water and wait 10 minutes. Then add 3 more tbs of water and then gently stir and wait 10 more minutes. Then u get this gel like consistency to consume with yogurt or by itself. I saw where u can do with squeezing actual lemon and adding chia to soak and wait until it swells and then adding water as much water to tolerate the sourness and drink that cup u made. But getting that gel like consistency is the better way to go. Great for constipation and gut health. Have 1-2 tbs every day .. wishing everyone great health 😊

      Hey does this mean the chia seeds have no effects if we eat them without first soaking them? For example, I tend to simply sprinkle it on top of my yogurt or in my cereal.. Is this wrong?

    • @Friend4lifeyolo
      @Friend4lifeyolo 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ from the videos I have been seeing- they said the best way to take chia so that it doesn’t expand in your stomach. I would soak in water enough 10-15 minutes to let it swell and then add more water and wait. Easier to digest and u eat at already expanded in size. Maybe if u eat raw- I would grind in boxer to dust form so it doesn’t expand as much? Not sure- sorry. 😞 I get my organic seeds from Costco and I’m just eating with Greek yogurt after being soaked over a few days in fridge in small containers for my preferred serving size. Good luck

    The attraction of chia seeds to me is the gelatinous storage of water to help hydrating the body in the desert. It keeps the water in the body longer than drinking water alone, which just passes through.

    Dear Dr. Berg, I’ve been consuming chia seeds, flaxseed, walnuts, pecans, sesame seeds, lots of leafy green greens, avocados and avocado oil , home-baked sourdough bread, but I’ve never heard you talk about, and I’ve listened to a lot of your programs, is oxalate toxicity. All these foods I mentioned are all high in oxalates! I’m 63 and have been experiencing very sudden (since 1 month) severe hip joint inflammation issues that as far as I have been able to determine are being caused by toxic, long-term accumulation of oxalates. So for the last three weeks now I have removed probably 95% of oxalate rich foods from my diet. I also have been using a near infrared heat lamp sauna for 36 minutes almost on a daily basis for the last 18 months. Unless I can heal my hips, my hiking days are over. Can you help me please? BTW, I eat a lot of my home made kimchi for my gut! Quick Note: I just found your video on oxalates. I’m already doing the dietary recommendations you mentioned except for the citrates. Thanks!

    So I started eating Chia Seeds because they seem to spike blood glucose less than wheat dextrin. I quickly realized they were like tapioca and went a little nuts. Then I started to wonder why my blood was so watery when I checked my blood glucose. After little cogitation on what changed I searched up the chia seeds and sure enough... Too many will thin your blood. And now I am here in the comments trying to see how much is too much and wondering why no one ever talks about that part.

    The bioavailability of plant protein is fairly low, with the exception of fermented plant matter. Very few plants come with all the EAAs, which means they are considered an incomplete protein source. I think this is why you cook rice and beans together, to make the proteins complete. Most plant proteins are difficult for humans to adequately digest, but not animals like cattle and goats. You can get fermented yellow pea protein, which has all the EAAs, but am unsure of anything else available, that's a complete plant based protein.
    After your beans and rice have cooked, you can add the Chia seeds and let them simmer during the cooling down phase. This is called 'carry over cooking' by chefs.

    Chia Seeds NEED to be soaked at least 8 hours to get any nutrition from them. The longer the better, within reason of course. Don’t eat them raw in salads or smoothies etc. they must be soaked for at least hours. You can then either swallow them of chew on them. Soaked into a pudding is great idea if soaked that minimum of 8 hours, if not then no nutrition given

    Chia seeds lack amino acids vs eggs. Eggs have all essential (9) out of 20 amino. Chia seeds lack some of the amino acids.
    Fun fact. People who want more omega 3 content in their eggs, they give their chicken flaxseeds. Feeding flaxseed to chickens can increase the omega-3 content in eggs because flaxseed is a rich source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is a type of omega-3 fatty acid. When chickens consume flaxseed, the ALA from the flaxseed is incorporated into the eggs they lay, boosting the omega-3 content. This is a natural and effective way to enhance the nutritional profile of eggs and provide additional health benefits to those who consume them.
