I use the gold if I am doing outdoor portrait sessions when the sun is a little lower in the sky. I have found that if I have it a little further away than the white or silver side, I get a beautiful warm "glow" in the shadows.
I have a circular 5 in 1 reflector, but I mainly use the white surface for doing Natural Light shots on my dining table. I have used the silver surface and even the black surface. But the white is definitely the tops.
I've got an old lastolite with about seven surfaces in addition to the five it has gold and white stripes and silver and white stripes. I like the gold to give a warm skin tones.
Amazing session as always including your team. Folding reflectors is an art form which I’ve not mastered, yet 😂 Great to see Seth sneak in his shout out 🤣
Splendid video as always. Thank you for doing this 5-in-1 Reflector video. I have a multi person headshot session coming up and I had forgotten all about the 5-in-1 Reflectors that I own. This is going to save me a lot of time setting up to do these headshots.
May I suggest that the height of your reflector, as you said, is personal preference and just out of shot. I believe it's a case of "Fiddle, adjust and wangle" to suit the look you want.
Gavin, I've heard that it is possible to use a sheet of newspaper as a reflector. Never tried it myself, but what do you think? I understand the newsprint only covers a small area and doesn't affect the light bouncing off.
ive got a round 5-1 and typically i use silver. if i need white, i usually will just a vflat or another wall. i have the Ez Glow softboxes from Adorama and they are absolutely the best! easy up, easy down, packing bag and they transport without damage so nicely. WHERE did Chloe get her dress? i think id like to try some shots like this but i cant find (trying to surf while watching) a hooded metallic silver dress like that. WHERE did you find CHLOE? she is such a great model and so patient while you explain everything to us
Thankyou everyone! Really enjoy feeling like im in studio with you Gavin youre awesome! 😊

Fantastic video from the A team on Adorama. Chloe channeling her inner Kylie ! Amazing
The sci-fi look was fabulous! I'm going to give that a go!

Gold is really useful for back light photos to warm up the blue tone on the skin from the shadow.

Gold for lighting the background.

For Sam... the gong was from the Rank Organisation.

Thanks again Gavin and team!
Good of Sam and Freya to coordinate their outfits 😍

I think everyone covered my response on what gold could be used for, mainly sunrise/sunset golden hour shots.

Another great session 😀

Hello Hoey family.
My favorit is silver and white.
Hey Gavin how did you like the little R2 Nano remote? I ordered mine Jan 20, and it just shipped out today. Curios to know your thoughts

Hi Darlings! Salud from Tenerife! 🙂
Gavin, I remember my Dad and one of his photographer friends using "crinkled" baking foil as a background in the mid 1960's.
Where can I find the dress Chloe is wearing?
A good french photographer Nath Sakura 👍
Chloe has a great deal of patience. 🐯 Reflector size is the same as a length of string. 🤣
Hmm undecided on this shoot. Not sure the harshness of the set up suited Chloe on this one.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great video ad usual. 🤤
