UNTIL NEXT TIME!
Ab is always amazing, under control, knows his stuff.
Thank you Joe. Means a lot coming from a true G.O.A.T. Always humbled by your knowledge.
AMAZING LIVE
Thank you Jefferson. Appreciate the feedback.
Hello guys, I was wondering what's the name of the material that Ab uses to make the large softbox effect, the one that he puts right in front of the umbrella...some kind of cloth. Thanks
Rosco Full Grid Cloth
That demonstration with simplicity has the greatest value
Thank you Steve!
Hey Ab, I didn't hear you say "there's levels to this" cause you certainly showed us there is, great demo!!
I promise when I’m back September 10
That was a real master class to how to manage the flow of a photoshoot, light, models and expectations 😮
Thank you so much. Appreciate you.
That Umbrella trick is genius. Wow. I have been struggling with my 6footer like crazy. Thank you AB.
Your very welcome. Thank you for tuning it.
Can this size umbrella work with an ad200?
listen to this guy.... he just doesn't say, this is what you've got to do, cause I've done it, and I really like it (like most TH-cam photographers)... no. First statement he makes is, "Photography is problem solving" It is about having a rough idea in your head, and problem solving a multitude of variables to arrive at satisfactory constant that delivers your visual needs.👍👍
Thak you Photo 2000
never a truer word spoken... time is always short on photo sets... rarely will you always have plenty of time to do what you need to do. Always some sort of time pressure.
Definitly need to work well under pressure.
level 6.3 (assuming 10 is max) will be about 75 W.s indeed. With God Ox and Profoto speedlights you'll need two speedlights. With top camera brand models and some Westcott, you need one, but are at maximum power. My Nikons are shot with the SD-9 optional external battery pack that gives much faster recycle time plus more flashes. One speedlight would do in a shoot paced like this once. When there's a more powerful (than 4 AA) battery in the speedlight, that helps a lot, but you'll have to see when it starts to cycle slower. Downside is that you don't have realistic modelling light. When you need to go fast with a speedlight, the biggest concern is overheating in the powerful ones that can go very fast in theory. You need to try to overheat them - driving them into thermal protection mode - and see how the device deals with that. Worst case, it halts your shoot for some time.
Great input. Thank you.
Great session! Thanks for doing this. A question for you: Why not shoot a couple other f-stops, than use the light meter. It seems that the light meter takes time as you review the photo on the computer anyway.
Thanks and love your shots.
Creatively I didn't see a need to change, and I didnt need to open up or close down do to lighting changes.
At time stamp 42:48
I understand what's happening with the technical terms but what's also happening in a dumbed down explanation. Is that he's flashing the camera. Which is going to make the background black as well
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by flashing the camera to make the background darker. If you are talking about flare? This lighting setup doesn't introduce much if any flare into the lens. The background is dark because the light is feathered away from it, and the angle I'm at you see the darkest part of the background. I hope that helps. This are no edits in the video just straight cuts. The meter helps me predict the outcome prior to shooting.
Come one man, Best pizza ever is in Naples(Italy), unbeatable, that's it.
LOL! Thats not fare. We are talking US soil. LOL
Could you please tell me what the ISO setting and picture style are for this set up?
Iso 100 just uses the default capture 01 picture style.
For the shots he made toward the end when he was backlighting is he saying that he would have been able to make them a little bit faster with the last litemotiv octa without using the grid cloth?
Yes that is correct Molaleni
good day lemme know what to do . when i shoot tethered it only show the photo taken now but wont show what i took previous or before that photo. im using capture one
Try resetting your capture one. My capture one always shows the library of images on the left. They also have amazing videos on their website, about workflow and setting up the workspace.
Excellent stream Ab. Like to see more live streams from you.
Thank you Albert
Awesome session! Thanks Ab for your inputs and everyone who participated in making this possible!
Thank you Thomas
🙌🙌🙌
I am new to photography, I have watched endless hours of people talk about exposure and lighting, and what you did with one light is a master class. I will watch this video over and over again thank you.
Thank you John! That’s a huge compliment
Not only the masterclass in single lighting but also an attitude towards the end product that is inspiring. Ab, you rock and if you don't mind I am going to borrow some of that delivery ethic from you!
Thank you! I truly appreciate the feedback.
4:00 ohhh, "light shaper" ! I kept hearing "light saber" 34:36 wow... absolutely beautiful photograph
LOL! sorry about that. Light Sabers are definitely more fun.
So true to shoot with intention as Ab Sesay did here, in the past when I've done models Test many times the Agency as they review images always say "this shot only if she was looking slightly here or there" exactly what Ab taught here. Thank you ADORAMA for having these great demonstration at your store and on your Site!
Thank you for the great feedback
Many thanks from Austria, really great teacher!!! Model did also a very good job!!!
Thank you. I really love teaching.
I have homework for tomorrow. Can I get the same look adjusting light position and aperture if I don’t have a light meter?
Sure. You's just have to do some test shots to get the exposre correct.
Thank you that was great. I'll have to watch this more than once because my slow mind can't process so many things lol
No worries, glad you enjoyed it.
Will standing in front of a 36’’
modifier affect the lighting on a subjects face for headshots?
My recommendation would be to test it. The answer is yet, but you never know by how much.
One of the best one-light setup varieties I've seen. Now I need to put my 7ft Westcott umbrella to better use!
Thank you. Really appreciate the feedback.
So wish I could have been there for this, Ab is amazing and a gifted photographer.
Thank you Jerry.
The amount of topics and information that Ab Sesay covers is incredible. Thanks to all involved.
