How To Construct Tribal Decks (A CGB Guide); Step 1: Identify all the cards that would synergise with the tribe you have selected. Step 2: Select 10% of them and put the rest back in the box. Step 3: Construct a standard control deck but remove 10% of the cards. Step 4: Add your 10% tribal cards to the 90% control deck. Tell everyone this is a "Tribal Deck". Step 5: Profit.
41:57 - CGB misplay - They changed the rules in (I think) 2020 so that commander deaths now work as is most intuitive. When a commander dies, it DOES hit the graveyard first now, triggering dies and graveyard abilities, before THEN being redirected to the Command Zone. This means that Kalitas should have created 3 Zombies here, because the replacement effect also triggers as though the commanders did hit the graveyard.
CORRECT! Graveyard, Exile, Library, and Hand are all zones that the SBA will see a commander entering and allow it's owner to make a choice to then put it in the command zone or let that object stay in said zone. Was looking for this comment!
Yes. But the zombies are created by a replacement effect as well and are a conditional effect of this replacement. Since the commanders go into the command zone (a different exile) he would still not get them.
@@bryanholdren9043 Bit of a mistake here. The commander goes into graveyard/exile as a SBA. But when it goes into the library or hand sending it to the comland zone is a replacement effect. Basically: - public zone: the commander hits the zone, then you decide if they go back in the command zone as an SBA. - hidden zone: you decide whether the commander goes into that zone or if it goes into the command zone *instead* .
@@danlewis7707 The commanders hit the exile before going back to the command zone, so CGB would get the zombies anyway, as the condition to create them was fulfilled.
At 14:28 blake dealt 20 damage to shea at least he now knows that you always have to kill cgb first. Not just to prevent him from winning but also to stop the suffering.
Really impressed by everyone's intros in this one! especially Blakes preamble too, it's a lot of words to say and they kept it entertaining. You've taught them well CGB!
I recently wrote on the EDH subreddit on how much I really enjoy the format of this show. Whether intentionally or not, the "worst possible" conversation is such a candid conversation about deck power that I think it would spare everyone from the dread "Rule Zero" talk. Love the show, everyone. Keep it up!
realistically this is closer to what rule zero should be. you tell what your deck is trying to do and how fast it can do it and that is the power of your deck. far too many people come in with this "i have to hide my strategy" mindset from competitive formats. you don't have to name every card but telling what the deck wants to do lets people know more closely how strong it is. like personally i have 25ish commander decks that i built in only about 2-3 years and working on 3 more currently i don't remember what every card in all my decks are but i remember what they are trying to do and which ones have combos and which ones don't.
The king of best of one decided to bring some control to the table on this episode I have been wanting to build this commander and I just got confirmation that I can play it just how I like, counters and drawing cards! GG CGB
My first deck ever was Rosheen!!! She barely gets any love, so it is awesome to see her played here!!! I am going to subscribe for this reason AND because it was a good video!
That was Grixis annoyance of beauty at it's finest, well played CGB! A reminder that any anything and always blue will always be the key to success and making everyone at the table love to hate you... everyone loves a good villain :)
now that I understand the title, i like it. Tbh I didn't click the other episodes because I wasn't sure if it was a commander podcast, actual play, what the power level was, etc. I think some thumbnail work might help, but what do I know, I'm just a dumb comment leaver :P
All-star: Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose. Such a fun card to play around with. Lifelink shenanigans are great and CBG pulled the perfect combo! PS: would love to see a 2-headed giant game with CGB, Mrs. CGB vs. Shea and...? Or random partners so that you can't build your decks to synergize with each other...
That Chaos Warp backfire was up there with when my wife used Chaos Warp on my Kozilek, Butcher of Truth and turned it into Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre instead. All while assuring the table she had the going to fix the problem.
This game ended a lot faster than the other ones, but it was a super fun video to watch!! Also, Ben's burns to Blake, making them "X-bros" to "Ex-bros" was hilarious
I do believe this game can be quite summed up by CGB’s echoing call: would you like to pay the 1? Cards win games though, and to be fair CGB had a LOT of cards.
Around the 40min mark the sacrificed Commanders do trigger the creation of a zombie. Commanders visit the graveyard and then move to the Command Zone. See uptick in Elenda, the Dusk Rose recently with a Commander Rules committee change.
I am pretty sure Evelyn the Covetous is a Phyrexian Spy. Whenever her ability triggers, I hear the voice of a cyborg:"Another four for my collection! *mechanical cough* "
Ngl it would be kinda funny if CGB played Esika as commander + Jinny G in the main for a future Worst Possible Commander Show episode, although sadly the deck wouldn't be able to be 120 cards.
You ought to triple-K.O. when you own the table. Overhead view: CGB owns table. Nuff said. Hey, recorders, could you please equalize the vocal mic’s volumes? I had to play with my viewing sound to hear most, and I still missed several quips.
I'm a huge sucker for vampires and trying to brew with Evelyn on brawl so I'm really happy for the win and the Henrika inclusion she is quite sus on standard. #teamJinnyG
Secretly, CGB was building a pew pew engine the whole time. Once Blake, Shea, and Ben saw it coming it was too late. How do you say value without saying it? CGB showed it.
The world is a vampire… Tough table. When everyone has 2-3 cards combos your level of interaction needs to be on point. in Blake’s spot I force CGB to play sheriff for the entire table and not make a deal. He has the most interaction and I think has to be forced to use it.
Fan of the show, likeable group. Go underdog Ben! Getting repetitive watching CGB dominating play with counter spells and Blake the only one that might have answers. Arch enemy needs activated until gameplay spoiling abilities are delt with or other decks too often don’t get the chance to shine. Would make for better game play imo.
Welcome to another episode of “Ben’s Burns”, wherein he will quietly, ruthlessly, righteously destroy Blake.

Well done to her for being such a good sport!

Wanted Shea to win bc I’m very fond of Light-Paws, but when CGB started to take over the board.. I was also happy 🤣

@@bouboulroz YES! you are 100% correct always learning! thank you!
The look on Blake's face everytime cgb draws a card is why I keep coming back.
At 14:28 blake dealt 20 damage to shea at least he now knows that you always have to kill cgb first. Not just to prevent him from winning but also to stop the suffering.
Everyone forgot about CGB having a combo deck and drawing tons of cards with no hand limit pretty quick, huh?
The face Blake made when CGB took his crackle of power and reliquary tower was priceless

Shea: I'm going to play a land for turn
Blake: Imma ruin her whole career 😂
What a game! I wanted to see light paws pop off!!! But Blake was too scared of the 4 damage 💔
The Dad and Dad are fighting again comment was gold. Great game guys!
Cgb: draws card for turn
Blake:😤
The king of best of one decided to bring some control to the table on this episode I have been wanting to build this commander and I just got confirmation that I can play it just how I like, counters and drawing cards! GG CGB
Evelyn is such a fun commander thanks for the treat CGB
Death and taxes. Truly a vampiric deck, sucking everyone dry!
My first deck ever was Rosheen!!! She barely gets any love, so it is awesome to see her played here!!! I am going to subscribe for this reason AND because it was a good video!
Props to the editor, clearly having the most fun at the table

Congrats CGB. Really liked your deck. Best comment of the game "Blake and I are actually getting along this game."
I always imagined the Exquisite Blood combos looking like the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark
The X Bros becoming the ex X Bros was perhaps the highlight of the game, if not the whole series

Unofficial partners sound fun!
The production gets better with every episode. Brent Kruscke is the real MVP.
That Chaos Warp backfire was up there with when my wife used Chaos Warp on my Kozilek, Butcher of Truth and turned it into Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre instead. All while assuring the table she had the going to fix the problem.
"Son of a bitch" is the crowning achievement for control players.
Finger Guns FTW @CGB nice clean combo win. Wouldn't have expected to see it happen any other way!
Shea hat the comment of the day: "Dad and Dad are fighting again!". Rofl!
This game ended a lot faster than the other ones, but it was a super fun video to watch!! Also, Ben's burns to Blake, making them "X-bros" to "Ex-bros" was hilarious
Going forward can we replace "would you like to pay the 1" with "would you like me to draw my combo?" It may alter some decisions :)
I do believe this game can be quite summed up by CGB’s echoing call: would you like to pay the 1? Cards win games though, and to be fair CGB had a LOT of cards.
Best commander show on the internet !!!
@30:20, its like chicken soup for the Sole
38:27 oh man, bens always got some savage burns. 😂
The pew pew pew on the end got me xD
Wait! CGB, you forgot to exile cards when Vito entered the battlefield XD what a game! GGs
18:35 Thank you CGB for that LotR reference

Nice, just built a Zaxara Hydra Deck myself!
I wanted CGB to say, “Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself” at the end with that loop lol
A combo worthy of lege...I mean CGB. Great ending!
CGB, Henrika also has a Dracula alternative art: the three sisters
(as do a few others)
Pew pew pew pew, nom! Great victory animation!
Ben reminds me of Jason Voorhees... Menacingly waiting before he strikes 😱
The amount of drip on that table is astonishing
X Bros... I was waiting the whole episode for someone calling them X Men and thus opening the gates for sooo many burns and memes 😂😂😂
Ben and Blake: hydras go ‘hiss’.
CGB: ahh, but can they go ‘pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew hissssss’?
When she says she's going to swing she actually means she's going to literally hit you with the massive stack of cards on her commander.
Great win CGB! So the key is: never let CGB draw cards
CGB I LOVE YOURS LEFT EYE EYEBALL !!! ITS AMAZING !!! LIKE ALL OF YOURS DECKS !!! :)
One of my fave new decks is my Evelyn, but all I can say here is "Exquisite Victory"
Madd respect to Shea for playing mono white, it's not easy. It's still better than boros, but it's gotten better that last few years.
Cue CGB: Ooh baby a triple!! Oh yeah!
Finally! CGB vanquishes evil! Be gone skumeth!
Ngl it would be kinda funny if CGB played Esika as commander + Jinny G in the main for a future Worst Possible Commander Show episode, although sadly the deck wouldn't be able to be 120 cards.
Lightpaws, the undealable withable. Light paws, sharp claws.
One recommendation could be to announce the comment winner from last week real quick at the beginning of the episode to help with notifications!
Congrats Shea on the epic win!
that didn't age well
Another seat-swap eh? Beautifully executed
CGB is a vampire mage: sucking up Blake's fun to sustain himself.

41:00 I'm pretty sure the sac'd commanders should have triggered Kalitas and created zombies before they went to the command zone.
CGB: Grand Master of Life and Death.
Of course CGB has a Rhystic, one of the most oppressive blue cards, in vampire tribal.
When villainous just happens to be above cgb in the background 😂
I'm a huge sucker for vampires and trying to brew with Evelyn on brawl so I'm really happy for the win and the Henrika inclusion she is quite sus on standard. #teamJinnyG
I wonder if Evelyn will replace Yorion as CGBs favourite creature?
51:11 What are you doing, X-Bro?
Henrika was an all star, but rhystic study is the mvp. I even had to pay 1 just to post this comment.
All hail Grixis! Bow before the might of the three coolest colors (red is hot but... Shut up)!!
I’ll start watching commander if you use klothys goddess of destiny (love the art). New to magic 😎
Also known as the best possible Commander show
Please please please, let "Dad and Dad are fighting again," become a recurring meme.
I'm pretty sure commanders going to command zone still count as death triggers [after the rule change]

10:45 Shea sounds like a murloc due to technical issues xD
ok we are here with the X cost tribal deck
X-Bros to Ex-Bros, my lord, this show is awesome, I cannot stop laughing 🤣
Obligatory X gon' give it to ya reference
Didn't see it yet in the comments, but wasn't Henrika played incorrectly? The same mode was chosen more than once 🤔
How was the jimmy johns. Product placement they owe you money lol
The world is a vampire…

Found Billy Corgan.
AHHHHH too excited!!!!
I thought for sure cgb would sac the gift of immortality creature every chance
How CGB gave back all those cards aftermatch?
What did we learn today? Pay your taxes or you lose.
Jesus Blake is immeasurably salty! Definitely one of those players who takes a paper card game way too serious.
How many cards did CGB draw.. I feel like it would have been a good game without winning, but he did that too!
Queen Shea !
So what's the worst thing your deck can do Shae?
Shae-reveals half her deck
Will CGB ever NOT play blue?
I'm always using Rosheen to ramp my Boo
Shea and Ben never paying for Rhystic study is kinda hard to watch lol
Blake kind of pushed Shea to the point where imo she wasn’t in a position to pay for the rhystic study
And like normal Blake attacks Shea first. Dude has it in for her 🤣
A perfect example of why you should all pay your taxes. 😉
Fan of the show, likeable group. Go underdog Ben!
