I like the coring drill setup. Do you save the asphalt slugs to patch your potholes, or do you have to come back and do a proper t-cut/cap for each pothole?
In my experience they will set back the cores and then come back at a later time to cut out and permanent patch an actual square. Pretty much same size though lol.
Taking shortcuts and not eye witness verifying the location of existing utilities is a poor business decision. You run a drill through someone else's fiber or the city's waterline, it's going to be a bad day and a worse repair bill.

It depends on the municipality. We grouted the cores back on this one
Just use your locator to get the depth and drill a few feet shallower. No need to pothole
