Train journeys to build nations : Shashank Mani Tripathi at TEDxGateway 2013

Shashank Mani Tripathi is the Chairperson of Jagriti, a not for profit organization with the mission of Building India through Enterprise. Its flagship program Jagriti Yatra is now one of the largest train events in the world devoted to enterprise led development, particularly in smaller towns and villages of India. The Jagriti Yatra takes over 450 young participants from all across India, and some international participants on an 8,000 km nationwide train journey in a specially chartered train. The special train starts from Mumbai and circumnavigates the country visiting role models, and conducting panel discussions over 12 stops.
Shashank is the author of a book on the first such journey titled 'India -- a journey through a healing civilization', published by Harper Collins India, now in its third reprint. Shashank was recently awarded the IIT Delhi Alumni Association Award for outstanding contribution to social service for the year 2013. Shashank is a Partner with a consulting firm in India and lives with his family in Mumbai.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
