Hello, Even though i am more leaning toward the regimental number (as I believe a soldier would more likely carve his name than his matricule number)I would not rule it out. So yes it could also be. Best regards, Martin
Hello, The plate is usually riveted to the helmet. The plate came with two brass split rivets. The helmet was pierced on both side and the plate attached. That being said, some helmets have “stronger” / other types of rivets attaching the plate. For one of my helmet the plate is attached with these brass split rivets and for another it is attached with steel rivets. Best regards
