For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

After spending last summer and this spring watching multiple videos supposedly showing how to string my Makita XRU 23 I took the advice of someone else that commented on one of the 14 minutes or more videos. He suggested to just watch this video and I did. So just a heads up to anyone using a Makita please just watch this 1 minute 15 second video that shows you just how easy Makita makes it for y'all.
Thanks Makita but your owners manual isn't very clear how to restring this magnificent and lightweight trimmer that's extremely powerful and durable not to mention sexy looking for all you guys like myself.
Thanks again Makita for making this extremely powerful lightweight trimmer that's not electric or gasoline operated. Love your battery operated tool's. If you have any doubt just look inside my two car garage and you'll see my walls and tool full of Makita. And 1 more thing guys if you ever have any problems with your Makita merchandise just call thier toll-free number. I had one issue years ago with my Makita cordless drill. I was extremely disappointed until I called. I was immediately transferred to the problem center and was told what I wasn't doing right without them laughing at me for not turning the tool to the on position. I'm saying all of this because I'm still trying to figure out why I didn't watch this 1 minute video from Makita last year. And that's why I get the big dummy of the year award every year.😂

Great video! The instructions that come with the trimmer are as useless as a screen door on a submarine! This explains it all. When you get the trimmer it has a nut screwed on it, I am wondering what this nut is for, looking at your video you don't use that to attach the head to the trimmer it must just be there to hold the flange on until you assemble it

Yeah, I believe it’s for different types of heads or attachments. Not needed, just screw your head on reverse thread and you’re done. I kept mine just in case though 😅

@Makitaaustralia how do I get a hold of the head you sold me brushcutter with as it was the best trimmer head I've ever used ..??
This so called Ezy work head is far far from it ..
It's actually the opposite it's very very hard to work with especially after it's been used once and you can't actually grip the head to wind string on..

When turning the head the string does not move. Why is this? My head is still attached to the trimmer though.

Only if the thread size of the bolt holding the nylon head is m10. I just checked my dur189 and it has m8, 8mm bolt.

Not to mention it will only last 1/10th the time our previous design did making you have to replace it after only 20 hours use..

the back ground music has more chance on doing the job, I wonder why they do not resond to comments, or do they just what you money, and then just delete after sales help.
I have looked at quite a number of there videos, hoping to find out from end users if the things there trying to sell us are any good.and if you look up reviews, I think they just promote, the companyies which pay them the most.which is no good for us..

What I do I open it up and do it the old fashion way. It works better than feeding it this way.

Yeh agreed mate I have the 36V Makita brush cutter. Plenty of grunt but I've had a prick of a time trying to find a head that I spend less time feeding than actually cutting.

I agree. Want to change it for a ryobi head as the bump feed does not work and it gives blisters trying to wind and then one end doesn't come out when you bump it. Avoid. Mine was like this after first use.
