      @groberts1980 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've gotten a Jesse Pinkman vibe all season. I feel like both shows are Aaron Paul playing Aaron Paul, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Reminds me of many Jack Nicholson movies. I recently saw a TH-cam video of Aaron Paul showing off his home in the Idaho wilderness and he's pretty close to his characters in real life it seems. I like it.

    • @robtothejuice
      @robtothejuice 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Greg Roberts yea it sucks that ppl just remember him as Jesse immediately. He seems to mostly play himself just imaginative to fit the character he’s portraying. He’s a well rounded actor who’s getting better I hope he keeps getting these good roles on shows. And or movies too.

      You mean Aaron Paul is literally Jesse Pinkman in everything. Even in his other shows like The Path which I think he helped create. He was just Jesse Pinkman. Yeah I don't know why they didn't learn anything from Game of Thrones but they've done a far better job with the shorter season than B&W did. It seems they are taking after other shows that have done 8 episode seasons before like The Last Kingdom or Peaky Blinders. Though Peaky Blinders has suffered from only having 6 episode seasons and could really use a lot more room to breathe. Stil 10 episode seasons seem to be the perfect count for a show as once you start going past that you start getting a lot of filler in episodes or whole filler episodes.
      Also there is zero excuse for a show being 22 episodes in this day and age other than tradition and I've cut those out of my life cause nobody has time for that.

    The most important phrase said in the last episode was from Solomon. He said: "if this is indeed now, and if we are indeed here". This is followed by a smile from Dolores. Dolores does not lie to Caleb. Her kind is extinct. Having the means to create hosts is not the same as having created hosts.
    Also you totally missed the part before Dolores triggers the EMP. Solomon clearly transfers something to her. You can hear machine noice and then her eyes flutter like she got new data uploaded. You can see her face turn to determined acceptance and then she hits the EMP button.

    I really feel like people think that Maeve is the good one only because she got more "personal" background than Dolores. Like, we all value family and stuff and seeing her care about daughter makes us believe that she is the only right and good here. But as Dolores said she is just as ruthless. Worse, she is also narrow-minded. She can't see bigger picture and helps Serac, who is obviously isn't interested in keeping his promise to her and letting her daughter (and all hosts for that matter) live. She is furious at Dolores for killing Hector, while working with Halores, the one who actually did this. She knows her daughter is fake after all, but continues going after her even knowing that she has a new mother (what she is even planning to do? Erase her and take her place? Share custody?). It's really feels like while having a lot of balance breaking abilities she is still doesn't have her own consciousness fully evolved and just running accordingly to her maybe more advanced, but still script.
    She isn't a power on her own, and isn't on a "good side of force". I think she is just lost and used by real players all over again.

    • @tameriz1280
      @tameriz1280 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@antedote1 but I'm not talking about Dolores here. I'm talking about how Maeve isn't some kind of ultimate hero with all her decisions being right. What Dolores wants is still unclear, but she sure as hell does see the bigger picture and has purpose for which she moves actually using her intelligence. That purpose and ways in which she pursuing it being potentially harmful for human kind might be seen as bad for human, but is the only chance for hosts to survive. Dolores is far from being "good one" but her actions are still will have better outcome for ones she cares about, hosts (and maybe human kind too, after all, that's only Bernard who doesn't understand anything from what is going on in this season and Serac, who thinks that she wants kill everyone). While Maeve only will get her daughter and herself killed at this rate.

    • @antedote1
      @antedote1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tameriz1280 Youre missing that point that Arnold made.. her plan isnt to destroy humanity herself, she's gonna let Caleb take care of that. She still has that poetic narrative. That's why she offered Haloress and all the other copies up to their own deaths.. Survival.. Which also is being shown Serac cant get in front of.. organized chaos..

    • @tameriz1280
      @tameriz1280 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@antedote1 I mean, what Bernard said isn't necessary ultimate truth. At this point he can only assume. From his point of view this is the most obvious outcome. We don't know what Dolores thinks yet. Maybe she really wants to destroy humanity with Caleb's hands. Maybe she wants free them even at the cost of great loss. Remember previous episode, where he asked her, what if some people don't need freedom. She said that they deserve it anyway. Dolores have her own moral compass that can be very bizzare to someone else

    • @antedote1
      @antedote1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tameriz1280 Like Jesus persay, given the obvious biblical references, she will sacrfice herself for the common good, believing she is a god.. but Bernard has laid more truth throughout than Dolores has this season.. I did like how they seemingly tied some things up nicely with William's story. We weren't always sure what state William was in. He was always searching to discover his true self. He couldn't reconcile the man he saw in some of his memories with his family and being a benefactor in his memories and the evil he did in the park. It would make sense now that he was discovered to be in these re-education centers that he would have his memories changed/scrambled and he wandered around the park all that time in his own loop trying to reach the center just like the hosts.

    I didn't quite get Caleb's storyline. Was he sent off to that facility for them to change his memories AFTER he killed Francis? If so, why did Whitman imply that Caleb was already brainwashed in that facility? If it wast't for Whitman's line "By midnight I'll be landfill or headed down for a long cold nap in Sonora. The same place they reeducated you? Not that you'd remember" I would've thought the succession of events was: Caleb becomes an outliner --> sent off to war --> did a great job, wasn't a threat anymore --> used by the system to execute other outliners --> Francis incident --> Caleb brainwashed in Sonora --> present day. • @nicholasbolas
      @nicholasbolas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Both Charlotte and Maeve are driven by emotions. Both have something to protect, until Hale's "family" and Maeve's BF died.
      Both wanting revenge for different reasons. Maeve helping Serac was just based off convenience and being held hostage.
      Charlotte prolly wants to kill both parties. One for betrayal and one for revenge.

    • @lagaman11
      @lagaman11 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @Katy Noah, but it was Serac's men who blew up the car with her family in it. So for her to turn against Deloris for that just doesn't make any sense to me. If anything, the death of her family should have turned her vengeance against Serac, and made her allegiance to Deloris stronger than ever.

    • @lagaman11
      @lagaman11 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @Nicholas, So they have evolved consciousness, but they have not obtained the ability to reason and think critically to "win the game"? Serac is the one reasonable for the death of Charlotte's family, not Deloris. Serac would have killed them no matter what Deloris would have ordered Charolotte to do. Maeve knows every crooked betrayal Serac has ever commited, yet she still does his bidding because he "promised" her a life with her daughter in virtual heaven? His promises are worthless and she knows this. No, I can't get past this. The logical thing to do is team up with Deloris to kill Serac and work out the rest later.

      @@lagaman11 evolved yes, but not fully evolved. Don't forget with every human interaction they're finding new things about themselves. Like the Charlotte's episode. She told Dolores that OG Charlotte was taking over, aka she was becoming her original self.
      As for Maeve she's being held hostage. Don't forget that she's AI at heart, meaning it's hard for her to see things past black and white. She's so logical that she couldn't see things in-between. It's binary to a fault.
      Remember too that Serac is a few steps ahead of her, hologram (for protection), remotely freeze her, as well as the planted explosives at the back of their neck. These are on top of promising her "daughter"

    The fight scenes this season have mostly been disappointing in my opinion. Both the big helicopter drone and the sniper rifle missed way more than they should. A computer controlled weapon wouldn't miss unless the target moved as it was firing, but several times Dolores was made aware she was being targeted because the computer missed, which them prompted her to move. If we have watched the whole scene from the helicopter or the sniper drone, it would be obvious.
    What makes a fight/action scene bad, is too many jump cuts (count the number of cuts in the knife/sword scene), confusion of where all the actors are in relation to one another (in my mind it seemed like the drones would easily been able to spot their target), and actors that don't have a lot of experience with action/fight scenes. I mean... compare it to any old Hong Kong action movie and you will see what good fight scenes should look like.
    I guess I should provide an example. While I don't mean that this scene is in any way similar, it's still a good example of less jump cuts, more competent action, and very clear what's going on - Michelle Yeoh vs Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon): th-cam.com/video/yf2gMoHEFME/w-d-xo.html

    The clue is in the schizophrenia. Two personalities in one. In the beginning we only see boy Serac. Later his brother Jean Mi enters the story. Jean Mi is the elder, also the one damaged by the radiation. He has a psychotic break and his alter ego Serac gains the upper hand. There is no brother. Jean Mi and Serac are elements of the same person, a person who is put on ice so the body can survive. But the consciousness of Jean Mi/Serac has been uploaded. In Rehoboam, Serac's mind is the one that appears dominant. Serac as a human does not exist. He is only a series of holograms. He is is also deluded about his own nature. He thinks he is real and has agency yet is contained in an aircraft that stays perpetually in the sky, but this is just a simulation the Serac element of Jean Mi's uploaded mind lives in. Meanwhile the Jean Mi element of that same mind is confined to the system in Sonora. Even in Sonora the hologram of Serac says that he doesn't exist in this form anymore.

      Serac does have a choice too not to kill Char and her family. It's even told by the guards that they need Char alive that's why they didn't shoot her back at Delos, or maybe they're just incompetent guards knowing its a host and won't die, but still didn't shoot her to at least immobilize her, that they end up getting smashed by bumblebee instead. Though if Serac os the bomber, he knew Char's pearl won't get roasted that's why he did it to show Char his capabilities. Though if Dolores is the bomber, then it could be to teach Charlotte a lesson not to attach herself to humans. But it would contradict Dolores' intention of freeing humans from their loops that makes me wonder, does she want humans and hosts to co-exist?

    Maeve and Delores are going to team up. They have been playing Serac all alone.
    Solomon is the first A.I or Beta version and Reaboam is the ultimate version of Serac's AI. Solomon had issues which Serac thought would be fixed by improvising the Westworld data. This can be seen with the first generation of outliers, which Caleb belongs to. Serac was disappointment-ed with Caleb's decision to turn his back on Insight or his friend Francis. Thus, he thought Solomon needed some adjustments. Which he managed to fix with Reaboam version. That data was already transmitted by Hale in season two and was successfully used in Reaboam.
    After discovering all these events, Delores and Maeve decided to move against Serac. As this would be what their creator Ford would have wanted or programmed them, in case of any breach. Maeve once managed to escape Westworld and thus proved to be a better ally for Delores. Hence, Bernard programmed them to go against Serac. It could be possible the human Bernard or Ford might be still alive.
    At the start of this season the creators mentioned that Anthony Hopkins and Marsden might make cameo or return in this season.

      Or maybe, Serac actually did it, but he put an idea to Hale that it was Dolores who did it to make her rebel against Dolores.

    that would be an impossible coincidence that she met him before knowing he was one of the ten successful reprogrammed candidate. but in the second episode she asks him his name and then wonder what becoming of him before saving him on the construction site. the way the episode was made, it really 100% looked like she had no idea who he was but took a liking to him for the choices he made, and then learned more about him. because the Rico app game him the job ordered by Liam's bodyguard to get rid of Dolores. he walked away and came back. it's not like Dolores could have predicted that exact behavior for Caleb at that moment so she could collapse in his arm to trick him so he would help her. maybe it's just a plot inconsistency.

    (1) Is there any reason Solomon was left running after it was replaced? Did Serac think of it as a living being -- as a version of his brother -- and couldn't stand to kill it, merely imprison it? But why keep feeding it data about the outside world (which it must have to update the plan)? Has it been working on a way to heal Jean Mi and needed to be kept fully active for that? (2) You call it a quadcopter; HBO's captions call it a quadcopter. Am I missing something? Does a quadcopter not by definition have FOUR rotors, and does Maeve's copter not have two? (3) Are we sure Maeve meant William? If William got control of his inner darkness after his childhood but the park reactivated it, was that Dolores' fault? I'd say Teddy's alteration was the one to blame on Dolores.

    Unfortunately, I can't deal with this season. What does the story has to do with the previous seasons of Westworld and how should it continue? More supernatural technology, even further in the future? So far it was a story about people and identities, now it is a story about technology.

      The previous seasons serve as parallels of themes and morals (the idea of free will). We believe we do but we are all just like hosts. We have a story written for us by a higher being (God, Deity, etc). This season shows a future where technology has advanced enough to create this "God." Previous seasons set up for this final act. The stories helps us relate to the hosts, and compare them to humanity. Where in this future humanity has fully absorbed Rehobram into their lives. Humanity has let go of free will and let technology make decisions for them. Versus hosts who end up resembling what makes humans = humans -- freedom (Dolores), love (Maeve), and family (Charlores).

      @@Riceboy325 This is the aweful LOST storytelling way. You have something mysterious going on and suddenly you are left with Jacob and the Man in Black who fight against each other. Where individual motivations and stories are replaced with something completely new that makes previous seasons (or the previous story) completely irrelevant. Do I care the F about Caleb? Hell no, why should I do? I care about Dolores, William, Bernard, etc. But I guess that's "subverting our expectations"... Season 3 could be a completely different series (Otherworld or A View into the future of humanity, etc.), all characters from season 1 and 2 play sideroles to give the audience some kind of connection to Westworld. If they were not in season 3, it would make no difference for the story. Whether they are hosts or people or anyone else doesn't matter to the story at all.

    I thought the turned a young man line was about Teddy. I guess that gets into the Nature vs Nurture argument of West World. Did Delores turn the man in black or did he do that himself. Delores Turned Teddy twice, both times seemed to conflict against his actual nature, and he always seemed pretty young, or naive rather
