try swimbaits and floating jerkbait, most of the time there will be alot of baitfish in moving water
I've had great luck in spillway storm drains with plain old crickets. Nothing big enough to keep, usually. And mostly bluegill. But I just catch and release anyway. And the spillway drain I fished was small. It was a concrete box, like the second one, but with a grate on top, too. And two small outflow holes at the bottom. It was literally like shooting fish in a barrel (actually that's kind of exactly what it was lol), but it was fun. I reeled one up with almost every cast. And I figured at least maybe some of the fish couldn't find the little outflow holes, and were stuck in that little concrete box. When I released them, I dropped them in the creek part. So maybe I actually did them a favor by catching them. Because once I released them, I freed them. Lol.

If you want to catch some brutes of the lake trout variety, go to Flathead Lake, Montana! Trout, obviously (lake, rainbow, cutthroat, brook, bull,and the occasional brown) pike, whitefish, arctic grayling, crappie, and Kokanee salmon(silver salmon that are land locked and can't make it to the ocean.) There are a world of opportunities in one body of water!

Here in Arkansas we call this ditch fishing. We wait till all the rice fields start releasing water off the fields and the bass go NUTS. commonly can pull 4 or 5 pounders out of a ditch that's 3 5 foot wide :)

Potomac river here in Maryland. Lots of big bass. Last Saturday every fish was 4.5 plus. Even the blue cats crunch the Texas rig.

You should totally hit up California this fall. The fishing gets to be nuts since we don't get a real winter. The topwater and swimbait bite is straight fire and you can bet on some serious brutes.

I used to do this kind of fishing with a good friend and we called it funting or fish hunting. It's just fun to see what comes out of canals and drains but you have to use some live bait too. Our best catch was a 4.5 lb large mouth. After that we landed many undersized bass(black and large mouth), lots of small aggressive channel cats, bullheads, bluegill, turtles, and at least one muskrat(boy was he surprised). It seems that the smaller the body of water, the smaller the fish sizes? I don't know if the large ones die off, move out, or predation by other animals eliminates them. I grew up in the San Joaquin Delta and had lots of fun fishing in that area. Getting ready to transfer to Texas and plan on taking up fishing again.

I want to see you FREELINE A BIG CIRCLE HOOK WITH A PIECE OF CUT BAIT. same locations you fished in this video but let it sit. Maybe use some Mehaden fish oil and try for some big cats. Those spots look like they might have some monsters

Take a small back pack son, with a small box for your rigs and hard baits. Throw soft plastics in there and fish. Making a few cast with the same bait and saying nothing's in there is crazy. If there was one bait that catches every fish we wouldn't have tournaments. That first spot was beautiful.

Go simple. Use a small hook attached to a Berkeley maggots or a Berkeley worm. I’ve caught a bunch of small bluegills this way for the trot linein my area we get a lot of good size warmouth bass.

Looks like a spillway, where water is released in a controlled fashion either by release gates like used for dams to prevent catastrophic failure or by natural overflow of a lake or reservoir.🤔

If you're ever in Texas you should go check out Gladewater Lake in East Texas because they have a bigger Spillway and you can catch huge fish behind it and there's also a secret pond
