Loved this two-part retrospective and wanted to express my appreciation. This is easily the best Contra series overview on the Internet. Thank you for all your research and editing and overall effort!
Loved this! GREAT WORK ~ Your eye for the completely absurd/totally awesome is THE BEST. You are amazing at this ~ Miss ya, buddy!! 'FRESH MEAT, AAUGGHGGH!!..'
Contra, Super C, and Contra 3 are probably all I need. With Hard Corps and subsequent games, it started getting ... weird. What I like about Contra is that it was a straightforward run-and-gun that took itself pretty seriously. Rambo dudes, alien threat, biomechanical enemies, some big set-piece boss fights... simple. When it started going more and more tongue-in-cheek it became a different game.
A fantastic video. Awesome work here. I also really appreciate you giving the ps1 games a fair shake. I enjoyed Legacy of War fir what it was, unfortunately here in the UK the second title never got a European release which was a real bummer.
Damn i knew there were newer Contras after the 16bit era but i didn't know there was this many. All i played was Shattered Soldier and a little bit of Neo Contra. SS though rocked!
I'm really willing to bet Galuga not turning out as good as it should was Konami interfering negatively with the production. Seeing how Bloober Team is hinting at hating working with them, that might be why their latest published games (that are not collections) have been less than stellar. Grotesque aliens and monsters is definitely more Contra but personally I love the robot designs in Hard Corps Uprising! It's the kind of machine enemy/creature design you can only see in a japanaese game. Anyway great video as always! It was as fun to watch as the livestreams themselves
Neo Contra was such a lot of fun, and the story was so bonkers! I tried a bit of Contra Rogue Corpse as couch coop, and it was disappointingly imbalanced without doing a bunch of grinding. Maybe the single player experience is better paced?
Hi I was wondering if you might know about a game that's not on your lists(I know it as contra because that's what it was called on the casette and the menu) Were there any games like contra that were harder but still had the same Contra mechanics, powerups,,etc could be bootlegs or test versions too. Because I used to have one where the enemies don't die in 1 hit, weapons felt really weak, I only remember it vaguely. The first stage was your usual 90s video game backalley type setting, the first boss was this UFO looking thing, it was shaped like a half oval-ish UFO with what looks like the textures of a brain but smoother and was this glowing on and off violet color

Dude thank you for not shredding the Appaloosa entries. It's really professional and refreshing to see an honest take on them. Rogue Corps too
@ramrodbldm9876 Haha how triggered can you get over Contra bro?
@@ramrodbldm9876 It's on mine & your mom's favorites list
I feel you on Operation Galuga. It was a slight step back, but I had some fun. Also, thank you for mentioning Blazing Chrome! That game was a blast!!
Operation Galuga sucks. Konami has been infected by western ideologies. Anyway, I love Super Cyborg and Blazing Chrome!
I’ve only discovered your channel today through part 1 (also love the horror game series!). Couldn’t wait for part 2 - and here it is!
"ContrAversial"
Thank you for taking us on this wild ride through the Contraverse!

yo Ike! thanks so much, hope you're doing well dude!
What an undertaking!? Well done and thank you for your hard work!!!
As always, incredible work!
I'm still waiting for Contra Rebirth's Brownie to be back, I hope someday.
Awesome video and challenge dude!
Thorough and entertaining thanks!
hard corps uprising has a phenomenal soundtrack. Still listen to it today.
Can't believe I used to hate on Uprising back in the day. The game is amazing!
Nice job once again! I'm still bummed none of these games used "the pose" from SNES Contra III, except maybe menu on Contra Rebirth. FeelsPoseMan

I'd love to see your deep dive into Huntdown, Super Cyborg, Blazing Chrome and Valfaris in the near future :)

What a foompin good video
I understand we are on part 2, but I had no idea this many contra games existed.
I would have said off the top of my dome, maybe 3-4
I still play neo contra. I love unlocking everything.
It's a great game!
heeeey it's time let's go!
Great video. It's a shame to see Seaman really let himself go. 13:53
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Contra Games !
Great videos! I didn't realize I own every console contra. And one for pc that comes with castlevania

Konami had lived long enough to become villains.
The Marc Maron of retro gaming is back! Let's do this.

ehhhhhh, single player still plenty slow to get going XD

maybe Journey to Silius?

Rogue Core was... interesting. But Shattered Soldier... fucking awesome
Nah, rogue corps sucks.
👏👏👏
The world wasn't ready for Rogue Corps
So legacy of war a c: the adventure were basically pretty good for the technology available at the time.
Sadly Contra Returns has been pulled, I was nearly finished with it to.
Legacy of war looks like a jaguar game
I wanted to like Galuga more but it felt too generic. I wish they could've made a new pixel Contra for modern day like Blazing Chrome.
U missed Sega Handcross
The best one
