What I like to do with IKEA furniture is put one piece with the unfinished edge facing the wrong way. That way I can get twice the building experience.
Thank you for this. I built FOUR different Kallax units a year ago and just bought two more (teaching from home) and the new unit is COMPLETELY differently assembled than the last ones. Last year there were only wooden pegs, no locking clips. This year there are only locking clips and no wooden pegs at all nor a predrilled hole for them. Thanks, IKEA, for making this completely confusing. Fortunately, with this video I was able to sort it out.
Thanx for this. However Ikea changed some of the parts. There is no wooden parts to secure the shelves anymore ... And there's an extra thing to use for the top and bottom (which is why I looked up for some videos lol). Anyway, still thank you
Thank you so much for your instructions! They were easy to follow and better than the picture Instructions that came with it. I didn't have a bit like you did for the Allen wrench, and I discovered, after I wrenched my fingers raw, that IKEA included a holder for the wrench, to save our fingers from being rubbed raw. Noted for the next time. Thank you again.
Hi Adam! Thanks for Posting such great Videos! I always find something helpful to aid Me in projects! I'm going through Divorce so I can use all the help I can get! #1 on My list is a drill! He took both! 🙄 But, I do not fear trying to do things Myself! 😆 Thank You again!
Hey Adam, just picked up a Kallax from IKEA yesterday and started assembling today with your video. I’m stuck after putting in first screws. No wooden dowels in this version. It’s all metal hardware. Hope you’ll put up a new video using the new assembly.
Update: Without wooden dowels, IKEA, also changed the shelves to match. You won't have as many holes. I simply skipped that step on your helpful video. Not sure why IKEA eliminated the wooden dowels as having them makes keeping the shelves tightly secured far easier while assembling. Don't let that stop anyone reading this - assembly along with Adams video is very easy,
To build this shelf is pretty easy but I hate the user manual from ikea because I‘m not always sure if I’m doing it right. So thank you very much! Your video helped a lot 🙏🏻
I have never put anything together so fast. I also usually break stuff and end up with extra pieces 😭. Thank you for the simplified instructions. 🙌🏽👌🏽 It came out great. We're using ours for a bench at the foot of the bed.
Are she shelves necessary for the structure to stay constructed? I had the idea of using this for my rabbit, but I am unable to saw pathways for my rabbit to pass through the shelves (the entire unit will be on its side, not standing upright). I was wondering if the shelves are necessary for the side panels to stand.
i just bought this today. the only thing thats changed is those little wood cylinder parts you have to put in the holes for each shelf square. other than that this is still the same

Great tutorial! Within half an hour, I had assembled my Kallax unit! The same as on the video! Thank you so much!

I like the way you did your video, well done!
The dislikes on these helpful videos really rile me!!
For what reason would you feel the need to dislike someone helping you??
Sad....
Hey, thank you for that. It's very useful. I've installed alone without my father's help 👍🏻
I'm collecting 2 of these tomorrow so glad I've watched this before hand. Thank you for sharing.

This helped us out so so much with our shelf! So simple!
What drill torque setting to use on Ikea furnitures since they’re made out of cheap wood powder?
Can I use the Allen wrench for the first step? I don’t own a drill.
Simple and helpful!
Thank you !
Are these able to be disassembled? Or would that tear up the unit?
Do you need a drill or can you use a screw driver?

has IKEA changed /modified their design or instructions for KALLAX in 2020? If not, I'm getting ready to purchase...thanks

I just picked mine up today and the two holes where he drilled the twelve screws into aren't horizontal they're vertical.
@@anikaevanson6578 i ended up going with a different brand bc at the time IKEA was having inventory and shipping issues.
do you know if this specific kallax shelf fits the textile boxes and baskets also? Measurements seem ok from searching, but just wondering
yes
What's the dimensions of 1 cube?
