I was concerned doing side-by-side drawer sets would be an issue with the screws being in the same position through the center divider and meet tip-to-tip inside the divider. From your video it looks like it's not an issue. Thanks!
thank you! I was so scared to actually drill holes in the sides. I wasn't sure so I'm glad I came to your video and saw that you're supposed to. I wish Ikea had predrilled the holes instead of us making the holes ourselves. I'm using mine as a closet island.
Most likely, I would never buy a dresser from IKEA again. But if I were to find myself assembling one again, I won't use the boards they supply for the bottoms of the drawers. They are nothing more than card board. I would take the bottoms they provide to the hardware store and use them as templates to cut out plywood, then use that instead. This will make the dressers strong enough to handle more than 1 pair of socks and a feather.

Hi Adam, how is it that this screw at 2:49 doesn't clash with the screw on the other side? I estimated the depth of the screw to be more than halfway across the wooden board, thus there are 2 screws coming into each other on opposite directions across the same axis.

I just bought a Kallax. I was having issues getting the screws in on the second drawers. I wanted to make sure I could have drawers side by side and I didn't make that up in my head. You can, I just needed to put more pressure on the screws and I probably could've drilled a pre-hole because it took a lot, and I was scared I was going to strip the screw. Thanks for the vid.
Is this sturdy enough to have multiple detolf shelves on top of it? I want to use them as place to keep my figures which can get pretty heavy all collectively. I just don’t want it to snap in two

You do know that there are no written instructions on IKEAs furniture? there are only images describing what you need to do, so language is not an issue!

+Melissa Marcucci I just took a look at the instructions on IKEAs website: www.ikea.com/us/en/assembly_instructions/kallax-insert-with-drawers__AA-1009361-2_pub.pdf It looks like they are just saying that if you are putting the drawers in the top corners you will need to remove the plastic covers on the L-brackets first. You can put the drawers in any section you like!
How should you do if you need to have it screwed to the wall AND still have drawers? Or is it impossible to install drawers in the top shelves if you want to screw it to the wall? Thank you for the wonderful video!

I did it without a drill. Just used a screwdriver. The screws go in quite easily. Just be sure you use that plastic measuring tool to get the right distance.

I'm holding my screws up to the vertical wood dividers with both the doubled-up insert boards (that the rails are on) on both sides, and it looks like the tips of the screws will overlap by about 3mm, maybe more if I tighten the screws hard... not sure what to do other than hope when I screw them in that they happen to go in slightly crooked in slightly different directions...
I got 15mm screws, and the partition between the shelves is 16.5mm thick. You get an additional 5mm with the fold on the insert. So, each 15mm screw has 13.25mm to play with... which is 1.75mm too short. /facepalm
PRO TIP: Rather than mark up up your brand new bookshelf (2:05), use double sided tape on the flaps that get back on the sides. Put a small piece of double sided tape on the forward edge nearest the drill holes to ensure a good alignment. It also free your hands and prevents it sliding when drilling.
CD cases do not fit with the spines up, only with the spines to the sides, which is unfortunate. I believe it would be possible to modify it, as there is enough space bellow the drawers bottom. You would need to shift the sliders a bit lower and the front side of the drawer would need to be redrilled and shifted too.
Good video. I assembled and installed the drawer inserts in my Kallax unit but find that the bottom drawers do not slide properly like the upper drawers. I used 2 packs, so have 4 drawers. Anyone else have this problem?
NO! Because of the clean looks and because of the flexibility of any Kallax, the holes are not pre-drilled. But with the plastic 'L-part' it is easy to drill them by yourself. BUT WATCHT OUT: Beware to use only EITHER the vertical shelfs OR the horizontal ones, because they are not exactly ALLIGNED !!!

Hi Adam. I purchased the drawer and door inserts (used) from a lady on Facebook. All the hardware was included except for that little plastic guide! How far back do I need to attach the inserts? I've researched on the internet, but everyone uses the plastic guide and I just need the inches so I can measure. Thank you!
I don't no exactly, but ifyou put in the upper drawer only and then allign it with the front of your Kallax, then you can put in the lower two screws in the right place. Then take out the upper drawer and pt in the upper scews. Good luck!
Does anyone use them to store CD's with the jewel case by any chance? I'm asking because I'm looking at the measures and it seems they will fit, but online I can only find people who are using them to store CD's on sleeves and not on jewel cases. I don't have an IKEA near me to check before buying. I'll need to order them online.

If you put the sides of the drawer on (around 5:20). Does the line on those two planks have to be at the upper side or not?

+ribsngibs that's what i did, screwed them in not quite straight, and it worked fine
I ran into this problem, its a "bug" in the ikea system, they should've been a bit higher than the screws on the other side.

CD cases do not fit with the spines up, only with the spines to the sides, which is unfortunate. I believe it would be possible to modify it, as there is enough space bellow the drawers bottom. Hi, can you attach two kallax units on top of each other? I have a 2 x 4 one and wanted to attach a 2 piece one above it.
What kind of drawer dat u installed at ur expedit? I need dat too. But i dont know whats the name of dat drawer stuff.
My screws do not go in that easily or all the way through. I cant get the screw to go in the wall of the cube.
