    That floor you did in the hallway looks very nice...I'm impressed. I might have to do that in my house if I can't get some tongue and groove Fir flooring.

    Great video! Looks great! How is it holding up (scratches, dings, etc.)? What kind of wood is the plywood? How do you keep dirt from getting into the cracks in between the boards? If you spill water or a drink on the floor, how do you prevent the water from seeping in between the cracks between the boards? Won't the water go in between and underneath the boards and ruin your OSB underlayment? Thanks, so much.

      It's holding up good. Most of the boards are really tight together and the polyurethane seals the cracks. It's a poplar veneer. I'm not sure who the manufacturer is

    I've seen a lot of plywood floor videos but this is the best one I've ever seen. Every plywood floor video I've seen when you take one glance at the floor you know it's plywood is this the way it comes is in planks or can you find full sheets and rip them on the tablesaw?

      It really depends. I would try to keep the wood off the concrete if it's not treated. Theh make products to put over concrete floors in order for flooring to be installed. Also, check out epoxy to go over concrete floors.

    At 14:35 I would just measure from the tip of the board on the right to the crotch of the two boards, then measure the same distance from the tip of the board on the left, then use the square across. Seems like a more obvious way to do it to me. But maybe I'm missing something.

    I this like engineered pine plank flooring? Would it be usable in a high summer humidity / extremely low winter humidity environment in place of solid pine plank? In other words, swamp cooler running all summer and wood stove heat all winter. What is the exact name of the material? Thanks for any help.

    I loved watching and the floor looks great- like your accent - very soothing... anyway, i was wondering your opinion on laying this over the floors I have now that have some soft spots. Can I just make it sturdier with this instead of ripping everything up? I am by myself and don't know if I can rip it all up to start over.

    • @mobilerenovations
      @mobilerenovations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This plywood is about an inch thick. I'd definitely made the floor sturdier. It really just depends on your floors, but if you use a thick enough plywood, and make sure the ends of the boards but together over the floor joist you may be fine. Make sure to stagger your boards too. In other words don't let them all nutt up on the same floor joist

    • @mobilerenovations

      Do you mean under the plywood flooring? Or do you mean OSB for plywood flooring?
      You can use an underlayment, and I would have, but I glued the boards down. I did this so they would not squeak. If your talking about using OSB, I wouldn't

    • @mobilerenovations

      No I didn't. I wanted too, but I was more concerned with the floor moving over the years if I did not glue the wood. I figured since I was face nailing it and it was not tongue and grove borders it would start moving eventually.

    @scottmcbride2237 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome job but ugly wood. So many knots. There's a lot nicer plywood for this project. For all this work you should use better looking wood. But other then that. Great job. P.S. I wouldn't use an adhesive either. All you need is to nail it with a small nail gun. Plus sand the edges. It makes it look so much nicer.

    • @mobilerenovations
      @mobilerenovations  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To each is there own. I only paid $1 a board and I like the way it looks as well. I used adhesive because if you just face nail it, it will eventually squeak in places because the nails will eventually start to loosen. If ut was tongue and groove I would have just nailed with an underlayment.

    What!!???
    Wait a minute...
    :028 to 0:46 ... YOU say that is NOT real PLYWOOD..
    You did not use Normal Plywood... you used a different kind of wood, with a veneer!!
    So WHY is your title "Plywood Floor Installation" the two woods are totally different. Right?
    4:02... and why is your plywood board crooked? The left side is against the wall and the
    right side is NOT under the door frame. I'm surprised you didn't cut the door frame (bottom)
    so the "Plywood" would slide under it and you'd have a straight line!!!!
    4:10 You put a tiny piece in the GAP... So you Patched the hole.
    4:19 Your board is now not straight line... I have never seen anyone do a floor like this... starting out with a cooked line.
    You didn't leave a 5/8th of an inch at the wall, so the board can expand? Why?
    9:30 You cut under the door frame here...
    14:46 That is a neat trick!!!! ...Great job.
    16:26 Great Idea... I used a little bit of water and glue with the sawdust... Works GREAT. I think I like YOUR method better, the dry sawdust... I will try that soon.
    Sooooo You did not SAND the floor first before staining it??? And you didn't wipe or clean the plywood first before putting on the polyurethane? Wasn't there dust and dirt on the floor?

    • @mobilerenovations
      @mobilerenovations  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is plywood, I said it's not normal meaning I dont think you can buy it at lowes or home depot.
      I did cut under the door frame, there was already a piece in the door opening you can clearly see. The piece you are referring to simply butted up against it. The same piece had a crack between the two boards on the left side for two reasons. First, it's a doublewide, the walls aren't perfectly straight. Secondly the boards I have are 1/8 in shorter at one end, so I had to match ends to keep it straight, but it's still has some places that had to be fixed for this reason. It's not like laminate floor where it just lines up.
      I also fixed the crack you saw by pushing it against the next piece after I secured enough of the other end of the board. The door frame had nothing to do with it.
      No I didn't while my floors down with water before I used polyurethane, I swept and vacuumed them until I was confident there was no dust.
