    Very informative. Thanks for uploading and waiting for the next video. I have done my bachelors with non accounting major and planning to pursue CPA in Canada. Since I am 30 now, having second thoughts about starting the program. In general, is it too late to start CPA?

    • @anoopjohn7652

      Hello Naren, thank you for your feedback. I don't think any time is too late to start the CPA program if you are really committed to it and see it as a long term career goal of yours. Moreover, if you arrived in Canada not too long ago then technically you are starting your career afresh so you can still start your CPA pursuit now. I have seen/heard of people starting the program in their 40's and 50's as well. Totally depends on the other commitments you have in your life at this point. Since you have a non-accounting undergrad degree, I foresee you taking around 3.5- 4 years' time from start to finish(not counting the experience requirement). Hope this helps.

      @@sheldinndhlovu1887 Yes, you definitely can take multiple core courses as long as you have completed the pre-requisite for that course(like AFR can only be done after completing IF1+IF2) and as long as you can handle the study load. I often did 2 core courses together while working full-time so would say it's definitely doable. Hey Anoop, i hope you're doing well.
    Pretty late to comment on the video. A very informative video. I will be grateful if you could address some of the concerns here in the comments:
    1) Can you please attach the link of the list of SPIs providing the courses to prep for CPA. The one which is attached in the description seems to have some glitches.
    2) I have done my bachelors in Commerce, major in accounts, here in India. Alongside i have also completed Second level of Chartered accountants of India course. On top of that, i also have work experience of 2.5 years in accounts and audit and taxation. In your opinion, how many courses would I be exempted from?
    3) Since i don't have the PR, continuing my journey with SPI is an only option available for me as i wont get study visa for CPA prep directly. My main concern here is (Keeping in mind conservative approach regarding my budget) should i go for PG diploma or Masters? If PGDM, should I go for one year program or two years program, considering I would need 3 years work permit as well?
    4) If i choose to do PGDM, will it be easier for me to find an internship in the CPA related area? What all pre-requisits would I need skill-wise and academic-wise to apply for those internships? In my opinion, doing internship would be beneficial to earn for my expenses rather than doing any other usual part time job.
    Thank you in advance, Anoop.

    Hello there, Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I'm just wondering what was the subjects that was credited to you? you mentioned you had 2? and what was your undergrad? Can you please tell me how long it took you to get the assessment? How long it took you to finish all prep cpa? How does the schedule like for you? 1 subject per semester? how long doe it take? sorry so many questions in my mind. Hope you can clarify some of my questions. Also I'm debating about whether studying in York University post grad accounting in Ontario or go direct to WSB I'm in SK. I like the idea that I have a Canadian university in my resume but at the same time, I like what you said about the benefits in doing it direct with WSB as I will get acquainted the format in preparation for the PEP and the final exam of course. Please help. Thank you very much!

    • @anoopjohn7652
      @anoopjohn7652  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jocelyn, it took me around 2 years to finish the 12 Prep courses(there was a forced semester gap due to Covid when they cancelled all the exams otherwise would have been lesser). My major was in hospitality management and hence only got exemption from 2 non-core courses(financial accounting and IT). The transcript assessment should be done in a couple of weeks but if you studied in universities outside of Canada then sending the credential assessment reports to CPAWSB directly would take longer. Regarding my schedule I would advise you to wait for my future video where I will talk about managing studies along with full-time job. Meanwhile some semesters I took one subject and on others I took 2 courses per semester. If you have time and money on hand then do it through university but if you want a cost effective and yet fast option then do it through CPAWSB, however like I mentioned in the video, if CPA designation is your ultimate goal then CPAWSB would be a good bet. Hope this helps.

      After you have completed your undergrad, initiate a transcript assessment with Cpawsb(if you are in western Canada) and they will tell you which prep courses you need to take before starting the PEP. And then you can register for the individual prep courses based on the transcript assessment. Most likely you will have to do just a couple prep courses(if at all any) since your major in undergrad is in accounting. Hope this helps.

      Hi, sorry for the late reply, not sure if you still have this question, but based on my experience, BUL was one of the easiest prep courses. There is a lot of reading to be done but you don't have to cram stuff, just understand the main concepts, like different types of torts and what they mean. Remember, it is a non-core course hence you are not required to show depth in your understanding to the level of a core course and additionally the passing percentage required is lower. Good luck!

I was not aware of the duration for each prep module which u mentioned in the video i.e. 6 weeks each module in my appendix institution has stated that the designation will be accomplished in the year 2029 also for prep they have mentioned 3 years time

    • @anoopjohn7652
      @anoopjohn7652  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi H Kaur, non-core courses are $530 and core courses are $695(distance learning) and $795(Webinar option) excluding taxes. Please follow the link below to CPAWSB website for detailed fee schedule, there is also annual student dues of $580 that you have to pay once every year. The CPA program progress will always show a date well into the future but you do not have to follow that. For example, if you take 2 courses per semester then you should be done with all prep courses in 5 semesters. However for the final designation you most certainly will take a little longer since the PEP(Professional Education Program) takes around 18 months' time if you complete modules back to back(however, there is a fast track option as well). And along with the studies also account for the 30 months work experience that is required in order to be fully designated. Moreover in your situation I would strongly recommend to complete Prep courses back to back and then also do your PEP without any break in between, since all the prerequisite knowledge required for the PEP would be fairly fresh in your mind. Hope this helps.

    Hello, good afternoon as per India standard time, I am so confusing about cpa, I am b.com+ ca inter + with 3 year article training in India with 6 to 7 year of experience in India,I will come to canada on dependent basis, but due to not clear my ca final in India, I can't understand what I will do in canada for CPA,my ultimate goal is CPA only, but where to start in canada can't understand,I understand the basics from your video, but will I get benefits for ca inter,I want to know, if possible request you to guide me for that,

      Hello Harnish, if you have completed your CA inter then I think you may get exemption from some of the courses based on when you completed the equivalent courses (for eg.if you completed those courses more than 10 years ago you may not get credit for it). The starting point to know all this and for starting your CPA journey is to create a profile with mycpa portal and initiate a transcript assessment. The results of the transcript assessment will determine your CPA path. Hope this helps, good luck!

      Hi, if by level 1 you mean Core 1, then yes you can proceed to Core 1 module of the Professional Education Program(PEP) after completing all prep courses and the 120 credit hour requirement.

    NEVER GO FOR CPA CANADA. I AM A STUDENT WITH CPA ONT. THERE IS NO SUPPORT , NO TEACHERS, ALL THEY GIVE IS A BOOK ONLINE AND YOU ARE BY YOURSELF THEN. THEY HV A CALL CENTRE WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CPA.

      As far as I know, you can't, you have to get an offer of admission from a PSI(Postsecondary Institution).
