2:48 = golden advice. I preach this to all new staff. Do it when YOU are ready. Everyone's journey is different. Do not get pressured by what you see around you. If you are not fully invested like she stated, you will have a hard time being disciplined as it is not your true priority. Great advice, Stephie. The goal is to be successful. The CPA is a great way to get there, but it is certainly not the only way. Figure out what YOU want, then plan your attack.

I finished my masters degree in accounting about 8 months ago from a fairly small local college. Took me about seven years because I was working and only felt like taking one class at a time. And very few of my classes from my math bachelors degree transferred. I took a break for about 4 months after my masters and then started studying some old Wiley books. Sure is a lot to have to memorize. I've only gone through the BEC section so far and it's tough. I'm lucky to get half the questions right. When I go through the rest of the sections and feel confident enough to get serious I'll probably get one of those Rogers or Becker packages. But I sure don't want to work for the Big 4. I want to have a life outside of work. I'm already 40 years old so I'll probably be an old man by the time I get my CPA, but as long as I don't starve or have bill collectors after me, I'm good.
I'm in my 40s and just finished my MAcc. I'm starting on the CPA exams and there is a lot of material to have to memorize. I'm wondering about the effectiveness of you studying old Wiley books? Hopefully, you aren't wasting your time by studying old material. Maybe someone here can advise whether the material changes that much. But you should probably get a review course and use one of those to pass. Most firms I know of will pay for the review course of your choice. Good luck and don't worry, you won't be the oldest person working towards the CPA.
Great video! I passed my last CPA exam at the beginning of the year and felt great ever since! I also have CPA videos on my channel about my experience and tips.
I had a really rough day and considered a career change. I start full time at b4 later this year and am currently doing an internship. Trying to juggle studying for FAR and manage the internship was such a massive hurdle for me. I commend people who are able to aggressively knock these exams out as quickly as they can. Retaining the information is the most challenging part of the journey.

Thank you for this. I just took AUD and my new strategy is to definitely skip the lectures. Too much time. Roger CPA is hilarious but it's just too much time and I forget concepts.
I used the Wiley CPA paperback review books. At the time they were about 30-40 bucks (2010 CPA). If you are a good test taker and can learn on your own, this is enough. On the other hand, if you need more guidance and can afford Becker, than do that. Everyone is different and have different strengths n weaknesses. Best of luck to everyone.

Hey, thank you for your awesome video. May I ask you a question? I am currently enrolled in a business school majoring accounting and I plan to get some internships (with coop) during my bachelor and once I graduate my bachelor degree, I am willing to get directly to the CPA program (2 years) that my university offers. Is it a good idea studying for my cpa exams BEFORE staring my career? Because I feel like it will be "easier" to get in BIG 4 accounting firms with my cpa licence.
This video is really helpful! I took my first exam in April and failed. I took FAR first and I took the exam during busy season which was a mistake. I am hoping to pass all the sections by the end of the year so I don’t have to study during busy season again.

Thanks for sharing information Just a quick question that If we do CPA from Texas or any other state in the USA then can it be globally accepted or it just limited to that particular state where we have been registered. Can we apply for job in other states too? Please do answer Thanks in advance.
Yes is Globally acceptable and if your having difficulties passing / studying for your exam I advise you to get a help like prof Dylan..he’s the best in Cpa
Note cards, note cards, note cards. Tip: Don't buy the ready-made flashcards. Make your own, and bring one set with you every single day. My own note cards (I made one bundle for each section of the exam) consisted of: formulas, definitions, concepts, etc. Every free chance you get, run note cards. Ask others to quiz you whenever possible. I failed the entire examination once (we had to take all 4 sections in two days back then), employed this strategy, then passed three sections the next attempt, with scores in the mid-to-high 80s, finishing the last part on the next attempt (also scored in the 80s).
Thanks for the tips!! I will be going starting school in 3 months to earn a BS in Accounting. This is will be my second bachelors degree and all 144 credits from my last degree have transferred to my new school. I only have 57 credits to graduate and it’s all accounting, finance, and business classes. I’m wondering if I could take the CPA exam after graduating since I will graduate with 201 credits? Or should I also go for the MS degree?
When I was in your situation my college advisor said the masters would take just a few classes more than the bachelors, so it would be a good idea to get that. I'm glad I listened. Now I'm going for the CPA, but it's going to take me a while. Lot of stuff to have to remember.

Hi guys please help me. If we pass all 4 sections within 18 month window do scores expire if it's gets late to complete licensing requirements. I heard in some states they expire. Please help in name of states where scores don't expire ..
I’m really thinking getting a bs in accounting but I’m hesitating because I don’t have N experience once I graduate from my incline school. Any suggestions I’m from Dallas Tx.
02:46 As a CPA, this is pretty bad advice. There is an 18 month timer that starts when you pass an exam. If you don't get all the exams done within the time, you have to repeat the exams that fell off. If you start with the easiest, this means you have a pretty small window to pass the hard ones. FAR kicking your butt? Well, what better way to make it really beat you down by also giving you a clock for it and the other two exams. Also, remember you can only take a test once a quarter, so you have 5-6 shots at ONE exam where before you had infinite. With your strategy, it's very easy to get in a cycle where you never get your CPA because exams keep rolling off and you are always playing catch-up. The better strategy is to take the hardest one (usually FAR or REG) until you pass it, then do all three sequentially. If you can pass at least one of those other three, you will likely get your CPA without much issue. You need to plan around the clock, and I think that's why your advice isn't very good.

I just took Audit today and it was brutal. It was my 2nd time taking. To be honest, I don't think I passed but who knows, I have to wait for results. I don't think anyone is ever ready for these exams you just have to give it your best shot. There's so much information that's why. Anyways, did you find Becker to be very effective as far as preparing you well for the exam? Im using Wiley and im trying to figure out if Becker is better.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am short an ethics class and a tax class. I plan to take the ethics in the summer and tax in the fall. When is a good time to start the review process?
I love this but heres the problem - Youre naturally smart... Ive gone through the whole FAR book 4 times and have failed 4 times.... I've studied my tail off and havent seen any progress... Plus, im not sure how you can get through the whole book within 2 weeks for BEC... Im not bashing you... im just frustrated because Im dumb and have gone through all the lectures, homework, sims and STILL CANT PASS
Sometimes the problem is not reading the book 4 times but ensure your understanding the topics . Learn why your doing a particular question . Teach your self and active recall ..
Hi, I’m currently taking AA degree in accounting and working in account receivable. How did you apply for internship and when you should start taking internship? Thank you for the video!
I personally applied for public accounting internships starting my junior year at university. Technically you can apply for internships at any point in your college career. However I don't see Big 4 firms typically recruiting from community colleges (I went to community college too) but you could possibly get one with a company which would be great experience. I highly recommend checking your college's job fairs or career advisors.
When is too early to start studying? Or is there a too early? I am starting my junior year in the fall and have been offered a student ambassador position with one of the review programs so I will get one section for free. I haven’t taken any upper level acct classes so I am wondering if it’s too early to start studying?
I do think if you're still in college and not taking a specific CPA prep class, don't stress about studying yet. You're gaining really good knowledge as it is. Focus on your current studies because they will help build a strong foundation for when you do start studying for the CPA. I personally suggest hardcore studying for the exam when you've already applied, are accepted and have a notice to schedule. Of course you can read things if you want but most studying software has a time limit - I forgot what Becker was, like 2 or 3 years from the start of using it - before it expires and you pay more. Plus you'll definitely be cramming when you are taking the exam so enjoy a little bit of a downtime while you can 😊 I wish I had when I was still in college! It flies by 💗
I’m starting my freshman year in college and have been trying to figure out if I’d want to be a CPA. Do you feel happy being one or is it just monotonous?

I graduated in college bachelor of scoence in commerce major in accounting. I am very much interested to become a certified public accountant even at my age of 50. Pls help me how? Tnx
That's awesome! I suggest checking your state board of public accountancy and see if you are eligible to take the exam. There is typically a credit hour requirement, for example in Texas it's 150 credit hours with business communication, ethics, upper level accounting classes as part of them. If you don't have sufficient credits, I suggest either taking undergrad classes at an accredited university/ community college. Just make sure your state board will accept credits from them. That's the first step! Then once you are eligible, you'll need to apply for the exam, pass it, and get appropriate work experience (per the state board). Hope this helps!
Hey Stephie, so I am based in Texas as well and to my understanding, if I have all the equalified education, I can sit for the cpa exam and pass even without the required working experience yet right? I just wouldn't be able to apply for the license without the experience and a cpa signing off on it

You want one that has unlimited access till you pass and a big test bank. Ready the fine print. Some of them say that but they have extra fees or limitations.
Not by taking the exam again. You do need to keep the license active by maintaining continuing professional education each year, like conferences, webinars, etc. Requirements may vary by state.

I love this content so much!
This video is really helpful! I took my first exam in April and failed. I took FAR first and I took the exam during busy season which was a mistake. I am hoping to pass all the sections by the end of the year so I don’t have to study during busy season again.

Just a quick question that If we do CPA from Texas or any other state in the USA then can it be globally accepted or it just limited to that particular state where we have been registered.
Can we apply for job in other states too?
Please do answer
Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for this video
im studying for FAR right now! Using Roger.. wish me luck !

Thanks for the advice! I am off the busy season and at a pt I'm not really motivated to study. I passed FAR and BEC. AUD and REG to go!
I definitely understand, especially right after busy season. Halfway done 💪
One day I hope to pass my CPA too.
Where did you get all study material & how much it cost?
I want to go with Becker, but not sure what package should I pick, Pro or Premium or Advantage? Please advise :) Thanks!
Hi Stephie. Very informative. Do you happen provide 1 on 1 coaching to create a study plan, how to study, cpa course to take, and which exam to take etc? As a busy prof myself I need some customized help. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you

Could you please advise how can I get materials?
Hi guys please help me. If we pass all 4 sections within 18 month window do scores expire if it's gets late to complete licensing requirements. I heard in some states they expire. Please help in name of states where scores don't expire ..

I fail bec with 57 first time. Now I am studying 3 hours a day 7 days a week for two months. Problem is I am near 50 years old! This will be tough!

I’m really thinking getting a bs in accounting but I’m hesitating because I don’t have N experience once I graduate from my incline school. Any suggestions I’m from Dallas Tx.
How long did you study for FAR?
Proctor web cams need separate video when they don’t operate on web systems how to diagnose issues my issues was not good taking exams .

Thank you !!!!
I agree, I never felt like I walked out and passed it but since I did pass, I do think Becker helped me be prepared. Fingers crossed for you!
Yep this was pretty much me in June. Second time and I didn’t pass but my score increased 😒
Hi! I have a question; is it wise for a person to do a ACCA/CPA only instead of completing a degree in accounting then doing a CPA?

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am short an ethics class and a tax class. I plan to take the ethics in the summer and tax in the fall. When is a good time to start the review process?
Hi stephie I am not sure if you will ever see this comment but do you have a certain textbook you reccomend study from?
Hello lvory i passed mine already with the help of Mr James i can refer you to him if you really need help to pass
When we have to register to AICPA association???
I love this but heres the problem - Youre naturally smart... Ive gone through the whole FAR book 4 times and have failed 4 times.... I've studied my tail off and havent seen any progress... Plus, im not sure how you can get through the whole book within 2 weeks for BEC... Im not bashing you... im just frustrated because Im dumb and have gone through all the lectures, homework, sims and STILL CANT PASS
Sometimes the problem is not reading the book 4 times but ensure your understanding the topics . Learn why your doing a particular question . Teach your self and active recall ..
Where's my faking WHY?!
Hey can you give advice on how to get PERT hours. Starting my Capstones soon
I'm sorry I don't have any experience with those 😔 I hope someone can run across your comment and help chime in!
@@WithStephie thank you so much for your respond. Love your video!
Oh, still I'm not a busy working professional , so I think I am not able to watch this video. But I will...
I'm planning to study in US taking accountancy too. Was it hard that course ?
Will I get the Job after CPA ? Non citizen of United States

Plz let me know the scope of CPA .I am Indian Chartered Accountant.
Thanks!
Hey Stephie, so I am based in Texas as well and to my understanding, if I have all the equalified education, I can sit for the cpa exam and pass even without the required working experience yet right? I just wouldn't be able to apply for the license without the experience and a cpa signing off on it
Iam lazy I ve been studying far now for than 6 months but I dont study that much maybe in one month two days then I dont study .. but the procedurs to apply for CPA is more difficult than studying CPA

But I face one problem
Is that
Study material is Available in the market but this is very broad which one is good I am not understand
Can you help me dear sister
You want one that has unlimited access till you pass and a big test bank. Ready the fine print. Some of them say that but they have extra fees or limitations.
From where ur top is ? Its so nice😍
Thank you! I got it at Bershka a few years ago.
How does anyone study in just two weeks...and pass and is a full time student...?
Do you have to continue getting recertified
Not by taking the exam again. You do need to keep the license active by maintaining continuing professional education each year, like conferences, webinars, etc. Requirements may vary by state.
Thanks a lot.
