Hello everyone! I'm still trying to play catch up...so this video was filmed early March! My Schmincke Granulating Palette has changed, so you can see the colors I'm liking much more here: th-cam.com/video/Kuo9ubspfJM/w-d-xo.html
@@CreatingCuteArt Isn't it beautiful!!! I love it so much, it's so pretty and practical! I have some itty bitty ones too...but they were more expensive for some reason?!? I will be sharing them in my April Faves, if I ever get caught up! ;D
Thanks for the request! I put a lot of personal info with my paintings, and journal so I'm trying to find a way to share more of my art without all my info. I hope you are doing well my friend!
Haha, which one did you get? I like the Journal better, and I'm glad I found it. ;D I saw you bought the pretty Roman Szmal set, it's so pretty! They are really fun paints!
@@ColorfullyOptimistic My daughter loves the new one. I bought the journal in 2019 and forgot about it. Lol It's getting loved again now! I can't wait to hear how you like the Roman Szmal paints. I have shared the swatches of most of the colors if you "need" more. ;D
Sometimes I want to warn you not to buy ALL of the colors, like I have. Lol But, it's been WAY too fun...and so I can't. Bahahaha I just love having a new friend who loves trying all the things like me, too!
What a great vid , you are so nice and sweet about all products, great to hear your review and you know so much about it all . Love and Light from Europe 💞
New Subbie! I’ve got the A-5 journal cover. Rubbed mink oil on it, and rolled it. Saw it somewhere in U-Tube land. It feels buttery smooth! It’s one of the only ones that had the reinforced spine. If you are into Bible journaling, or note taking… the Thomas Nelson individual NKJV “ book” journals fit perfectly! Also the A-5 100% cotton Strathmore watercolor journals fit great. Very stiff 140 lb paper. But with that A-5, I just fold some loose sheets with torn deckeled edges, and put them on one of the elastic bands. Also room for a section of junk journaling! Lol. Great videos! I’ll be binge watching now. Messy Mendy 👍🙏🏻🖌🎨👩🏻🎨
Hi Mendy! Thank you and welcome! Oh, that sounds beautiful. I have heard of people doing that, but have not looked into it myself. I'm still using this journal and loving it. I did try their other sizes too though, and I like them all. Yes, thanks for the tip about the Strathmore 100% 140lb journal. I purchased it after another viewer told be about it. It fits perfect! Though I've been using my Etchr Sketchbook for painting, and not tried it yet. But, I'm using these journals for writing with my fountain pens without worry of ruining them! Thanks for the tip about using folded sheets. I really need to try that soon. Thanks so much, I hope you enjoy! ;D
Thank you!! I have had company and out of town and not had time to search for one. I just found it on Amazon, and it is exactly what I wanted! I will be here tomorrow. ;D Thanks you so much!!
@@TheGypsyChic1 Yay!!! I love them and the paper is such good quality! At one time Walmart carried them, when they switched to Daler Rowney I snagged 10 of them from the clearance section at $4 each! Deal of an artist's lifetime 😂
Ooooh thank you so much, Julie! It's so pretty, it's been over two months and I haven't used it...I didn't want to mess it up! Thanks so much, I can't wait to try gouache in it!!
Really enjoy your videos. I have a question. Why do you buy your half-pans from Jackson’s when they are so inexpensive on Amazon. Can you take some large sheets of Arches paper, fold it in half and thus create your own sketchbook to put in your pretty leather holder? Was it real leather?
Thank you, Angie! I purchased a large cheap set of half pans years ago from Jackson's, and I am still using those. Back in 2018, and I assumed the half pans from Amazon would not be good quality...but they are the same. I do pay a bit more for Schmincke half pans at DickBlick, because they are a brighter white, and a different size. I don't think most people care, but I am a bit picky and like them to be the same in a palette. Yes, I can cut down and fold Arches. I would just rather find a sketchbook because I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I put it off until I can cut it fold it perfectly. Yes, the TN that I showed in this video is real leather. It is very nice, especially for the price. It will last many, many years!
thanks for sharing your haul. Love that traveler's notebook cover, why not cut (or tear) your own paper, then you can use high quality. I'm so picky about paper that I've been making my own art journals for a. long time.
Thank you! Thanks, I love that TN too! I have done that for now, but was hoping to find a high quality pad to slip in just to save time. I have three kiddos, so once they are grown I might sew my own...but right now I need the quicker, easier option for most things. Lol Thanks so much for the comment and sharing your experience!
Hi. Great video! So regarding the second set in this video- fountain pen is a water brush- its some kind of translation mix it but when they said fountain pen they meant waterbrush. My good friend translated and put two and two together for me- since i noticed a few people saying the samething about similar sets. Anyway great video and thanks for sharing🧡
Thanks for the info! I love fountain pens, so I was hopeful they included a cheap version. I figured it was a language mixup, but it's still a fabulous set for the money!! I hope they sell the paper block separate eventually. Than you for making sense of the mixup. Thank you so much! I always look forward to reading your comments.
Hi Stephanie, love your reviews! I’m looking for a storage case for my micron etc. type pens. Pencil cases do not work as the elastic bands are too tight. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance. Appreciative here in California. Jo Ann
Aw, thank you so much!! I don't have any off the top of my head. It depends on how many you want to store? Did you happen to see my video the Mimo Caddy? That is where I store mine, those elastic were big enough. I will try a few ways and get back to you if I find something you may like. I'm so happy to help if I can.
I am looking for the small 10 the metallics the first when you talked about? I don’t know if the link isn’t working where did you happen to find them and what are they called? Thank you so much
I'm sorry, which set are you asking about? I shared the 12 metallics in the Paul Ruben's set and then some metallics from Amazon on CSY Art Gallery. And also the pretty magenta tin of pricey six colors from Coliro. I generally buy them individually from Jackson's Art Supply. I hope that helps! You are so welcome, I'm happy to help if I can. ;)
Ty for showing more stuff! The MeiLaing was my first watercolor palatte, and served me well. I like Qor now, in general. It's probably not a cute enough for you, tho' :p If you're looking for a journal to actually paint in, Etchr and Hahnemule make cotton sketchbooks, just for that. As for watercolor paper, why not buy whatever brand you paint on by the sheet, and cut it to size?
You are so welcome, I'm always happy to share! ;D Yes, it's such a great palette for the price! I think a lot of my crafty friends could get that one and not need anymore. Oh, I just found my Qor Intro set in a box I forgot to unpack...I forgot how fun they are and had to buy a tube of Magenta. Haha, I think there travel set is cute, I need to use it more! But, you know me well...I might use them more if I move them to a prettier palette. LOL Thank you, yes the Etchr Perfect sketchbook is my true love now. I'm hoping to find a soft cover pad of paper to fit in the A5 Travelers notebook that is much cheaper. That's a good idea to just cut down the paper! I might just try that, asap! Thank you!! By the way, my next video is for you and @ShadowGuard for requesting me to paint and use supplies in my videos! I'm hoping everyone will be nice. ;D Thanks again for the request!

@@TheGypsyChic1 I totally get it. I have the Van Gogh nature colors, pinks and violets and a custom set where I chose the colors. I also have the 24 set Sennelier that was $165. The Van Gogh perform almost as well as the Sennelier lol so much so that I asked my husband "Babe?...Why did I spend so much money???" lol
@@AbraCassandraCrafts Oh, you have some nice sets! I didn't see where you could choose the colors?!? Did you see the Van Gogh set? I love that set and the Fran Holle set (because it is pink and has metallics). I love the dot chart, and have collected most of the colors. ;D I love each brand in their own way, like my children! I love the Sennelier paints, and find them more transparent and better for glazing. Everyone could save a lot of money not trying all the brands! Lol
@@TheGypsyChic1 Oh tell me about it...I started being "smart" about paint and only started buying INDIVIDUAL tubes or pans that I really want. For instance I just bought 8 of the Daniel Smith colors instead of a whole set and saved a lot of money. I'm doing that more nowadays (I REALLY drooled over the Green Apatite Genuine) I want the lapis lazuli but cannot justify spending $25 on one tube of paint lol. As for the "choose your own Van Gogh" They have a palette just like the one you have that closes but it's empty and you can pick out which 12 individual half pans you'd like to get and buy them like that and put them in the palette.
You were very smart!!! Stay that way, as there is no magic paint! I hope more people don't have 'Full set syndrome" I have. I actually sell things or use credit cards to make most of my purchases (so I can spend without guilt). I'm still a sucker for limited edition cases, etc. I have more supplies than anyone needs, but I get to share them with my kids and friends and donate what won't be used. I find really good deals most of the time, like my Sennelier 24 set was $79 from Jackson's...years ago. Haha, I cannot find many good deals for Daniel Smith so I haven't bought many in years. But, let me save you...the Lapiz Lazuli IMHO, weak, disappointing and definitely not worth the money. I do love Green Apatite "genuine" though... I wish I would have known about the choose your own palette from Van Gogh!
Omgosh the tulip and bird!! i love you style!!
