    Thank you for reminding me, that I have awesome bag for plumbing and other tools which I bought last year to hold my art supplies for plein-airs 😂 I haven't draw or paint outside since last May. So I forgot about the bag. But actually it's very convenient for inside use too 🤩

    This was a really long video, and my first one I've seen of yours, and I loved it! It's always fun to see what art supplies people love and hate. I have so many art supplies I really don't need any more, but that Holbein soft white pencil went straight in my Blick cart. It sounds amazing! I also like the micron pens except for the disposability. and they seem to dry out quickly. The Frugal Crafter has an old video where she shows how to reload the micron pens with india ink. So as long as you don't mess up the nibs, you can use them indefinitely, which I love. I subscribed!

      Thanks so much, Effie!! Haha, yes it was a long chatty video. I thought I was making it for my lovely loyal crafty friends. I'm so happy so many others enjoyed it, too! I have so many art supplies I could be branded as a hoarder. But, the way prices keep going up...I'm investing in my future happiness! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;D Thank you for the tip for refilling with india ink...I will definitely watch Linday's video before tossing any micron pens. I hope you enjoy the Holbein Soft White as much as I do! Thanks for subscribing, I love meeting a new friend who loves art supplies as much as I do! ;)

    The caddy is a brilliant idea! I am in the UK but I ordered something similar to I can have all my art supplies on the go around the house and even garden in summer. Thanks, Helen! Isn't it great!?! I didn't know about it until the company reached out to me. I've been told in the UK it is a nappy tote. :D As long as you don't over pack it, as I did...I think you will love toting your art supplies around your house and garden. @@TheGypsyChic1 yes it is a nappy tote but we never had such a thing when we had little ones so I never knew it existed! Loved the suggestion for the diaper caddy - I found a similar one on Amazon and yes, they are quite wrinkled from being packaged so flatly BUT.... I used my steamer on mine, placed some heavy books into it after it had cooled and it has reshaped beautifully! Enjoyed watching all the goodies! Thanks!

    28:25 I am not an expert but I feel that the lid comes out so that you can wash/rinse it. I think getting the wooden box wet would be not so good for neither the box nor the paint simply because wood takes a long time to dry properly. 🙃
    34:09 I agree the van Gogh are much better constructed (their wooden case too). there it stays in place and you can pop the palette out if needed.

However, you certainly have a more impressive collection of paint and pencils than I! I own a couple of watercolor pencils from a class I took, but have not gone out to get a full tin. Hi! I love looking at artist favorites so thank you for sharing!
    My Etchrlab white cover sketch book also fell apart. I really didn’t mind and just binder clip the fallen pages to the rest of the book. But I did email Etchr and I wonder if there was a batch that had this problem because they sent me a new one no problem.
    I would also be curious if any of your Sennelier poured paints in the half pans flow out of their pans if you store the palette sideways. Certain colors of my poured paints flowed out even though it had been months since I poured them. But since Sennelier and binders are honey-based, I’ve been afraid to store my Sennelier palette sideways so I would love to hear how yours get on.

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lily! Thank you, me too! Oh, that's a relief that is wasn't just me with the Etchr sketch book falling apart. It's still my favorite, so I will be more carefull with this one.
      None of my Sennelier poured pans have ran a bit, even with the palette sideways. They are all still sticky, but that doesn't bother me. I've been watching them more closely since moving to the east coast, as it's much more humid. My M Graham paints have a few colors that run, which is one reason I love Sennelier more. Different pigments might run, maybe pour them half way, and test a few where you live. ;)

      Thank you!! My pleasure 😊 That is like choosing a favorite child! Lol Each brand has pros and cons, and I love playing with them all. I would recommend the Pretty Excellent watercolors, if you are a crafter and don't care about lightfast ratings etc. Then Van Gogh or White Nights, they are better artist grade. Then which ever brand is the most afforable wherever you are located. I would say Schmincke is my favortite, but they are really not affordable unless you get a good deal, as I did from Jackson's. Daniel Smith is my other love, they have amazing colors. But, I'm not sure if I trust the company as much, TBH. Just use whatever makes you happy, and try not to buy into any hype of any brand.

    Stephanie!!! Another great video, I don’t know how I missed it! I was crazy busy during the holidays, that’s how!! Lol 😆 I do have a question 🙋🏼‍♀️??? You added a comment towards the end of the video, it said “don’t get me going about Daniel Smith watercolors!” Since I haven’t done much with my watercolors besides swatching…I’m curious about what you mean??? I do remember swatching out my different brands, and thinking that some of them didn’t seem to go down smooth?! I thought Windsor and Newton and Schminke seemed better. Please do tell. Your friend Liz 😊💗🌅🖌

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol, no worries my friend. I hope you enjoyed catching up! Ahhh, there has been quite a bit of drama last year. Basically, someone put some Primatek paints under a microscope. They don't list the pigment info and were caught that they added more then minerals to the Primatek line. I was honestly wasn't surprised at ALL. I always assumed they were essentially boosted with some minerals. But, they handled the PR terribly-which made me embarrassed as an American. Lol I never understand why companies are shady. To me there is no reason a company can't make money, while being honest and ethical. I hope that makes sense. I didn't want to bring any drama or negativity to my channel about it though. I do art for the joy and to escape all the negativity! I still love the paints, but couldn't bring myself to play with them much because that's what I thought of when I looked at them. Quite silly of me really, lol...they are just paints! ;D Luckily Schmincke hasn't let me down yet! LOL
      Oh, you may notice Schmincke and W&N seem more smooth because their paints generally have less granulation. I think granulation is gorgeous now...but looked weird as a beginner. Schmincke has some new color "super granulation watercolors" (which they shouldn't have used the word super). They are beautiful!! When you are ready for that, anyway. That is what makes DS a bit different is many of their popular colors are granulating, and the pigment separates and it has really cool effects. Think of it like when children are young, they don't like certain foods...Then as the grow their palette can change and they like more foods. That is how you may learn to love granulation. I hope that helps!

Just double check with currency charges and shipping charges to make sure the savings will be enough to be worth the hassle. The biggest downside I've found, is if the seller reaches out to you, it will be in their language. Google translate helps, but it is not for everyone. I hope that helps!

    Ah yes, I also have a love hate relationship with my watercolor sketchbook. I got my first one from Potentate and when I tried to paint a portrait, the color was just sit there and couldn't move at all 😭💔 I got traumatized after that and barely finished the artwork cuz I hate it so much. Then I tried something more simple (like using flat washes), and it worked just fine???? But I don't think I will finish the sketchbook cuz I don't like that style. I guess it's still okay if you're just want to have fun or make loose paintings and don't care about the layers etc.
    I love to use a lot of layers since I usually paint portraits but I don't think sketchbook is "my thing" after that. Besides, sketchbooks are pretty expensive for me, a college student who doesn't have a lot of money so........ Maybe not now 🖐️😀
