This was one of the most in-depth monitor reviews I've ever watched. The direct comparisons of all of the HDR modes, presets and picture adjustability settings really helped with shopping for this monitor.
Great vid! I'm considering replacing my dual AOC monitors with a 49" ultra-wide screen. I'm not a massive gamer but more productive and I'd like to have windows side by side without a monitor border in the middle. You mentioned that the text is bad on this monitor so I wondered how the Samsung Odyssey G9 compared, or am I better at sticking with 2 monitors? Thanks!
Pixel density on these super ultra wides will always lead to more pixelated text. Some new ones have higher resolutions which should have better text clarity. That being said that will be partly based on the user and if they notice it at all or how much they notice it.
You mention 60 hz when in PBP, so does this mean if i have an HDMI and a DP running from the monitor to my pc to split the monitor into two 27" screens and use each side independent ill be running both the screens at 60hz? or will my HDMI side be running at a higher refresh rate?
I just got this monitor and my main complaint is the picture profiles. They look totally different on Windows 11 vs Mac. For example, the sRGB profile looks most accurate on the MAC, but looks way over saturated on Windows, which is more appearent with the wallpaper and irons, but web content oddly looks normal, I don't get it. Turning on HDR fixes the problem, and colors seem more accurate and balanced. However, there is no HDR in split screen, and I have to choose a profile that looks good on one side, but not the other, and I cannot get both systems to look the same. I did not have this problem on my old Dell 38 inch monitor where I set it once, it looks the same on everything, and I didn't have to keep changing profiles. How can I fix this?
I just got one last week, and the speakers sound like trash. I don't know how to describe the issue because its not like something is loose or broken. It feels like some reverb pedal is built in and wont go away. Movie sounds the best by adding a bit more bass, And I used a sound frequency youtube video to confirm that it could output everything from ~90 to 20k hz just fine. Part of me wonders if its because my desk isnt against a wall. How would you describe the sound quality vs just even some cheap speakers? I have an Anker Soundcore 2 thats I used to use as the computer speaker that sounds 10x cleaner, even when plugged into the monitors 3.5mm jack. I love the idea of having surround speakers that are invisible and good enough for most things, but right now I hate turning them on even for just zoom calls. I dont know if this is just how these speakers are (loud but not clear) or if I have a defective unit. Awesome review BTW. One thing I noticed that I don't think you covered is that OLED care can set different ABL settings by picture mode, so HDR was high/mid while HDR Game was mid/low, allowing the picture to be much much brighter. So I run HDR for desktop and setup a shortcut to jump to HDR Game that I customized for a brighter but still accurate looking image so I can enjoy gaming while still not burning in my desktop.
Yea I didn’t cover that. It’s hard to cover every setting so I try to cover as much as I can. My reviews have stretched from 15-20 minutes up to 35-50 minutes just adding all the settings I do cover.
Hi, Im between this one and the Asus PG27AQDM, any recommendation? Great video, I've been watching videos for this monitor (Aorus CO49DQ) and this is one of the best. 🎉
Quick question!! I plan on working from home soon. The program I use had a white bar towards the top half of the screen. Will this produce the dreaded burn in I've been hearing about?
If I remember correctly I tried to split it via hdmi to dp and I don’t think it worked because you can just split the monitor by having the game and TH-cam in windowed modes and either side of the screen. I may be wrong though as it’s been a while since I tested that feature and I had to move on the other monitor reviews and I don’t keep all monitors long term.
recently got the monitor and no opinion to set it at 144hz capped at 60. Is this because the power cord im using is one you can just plug into any wall or did i need to use the specific 3 prong one
G9 has more accurate colors, which probably wont even be noticed anyway. It also isn't capped at 60hz refresh rate when using Picture in/by Picture mode. It's more aesthetically appealing too, but it's a *lot* heavier, as it has a metal frame. The Aorus though is more affordable, has a whole 3 year warranty that covers burn in, which was initially 1 year, but they upped it to 3 earlier this year. Samsung only has a 1 year warranty that ironically, used to be 3, but they dropped it to 1 a couple years ago and tried to scam someone out of their warranty when they called in to use it. After many calls, complaints, and the use of the Wayback Machine (Samsung has 1 yr warranty listed everywhere, Wayback clearly showed 3 years at date of purchase), they were able to have their problem solved. Scummy Samsung. And from what I've found, it doesn't cover burn in), and as opposed to the G9, I haven't read any horror stories about it breaking down or developing red/black bars going down the center of the screen, scummy business practices or anything like that. I *feel* safer with the 3 year warranty, and that was my major purchase point.
Not personally, but it depends on sitting distance and your personal preference. If you can see a super ultrawide in person before buying I would do that.
I'd be very cautious about going for an ultrawide if the majority or your viewing will not be in that aspect ratio. If you are going to do a lot of viewing in 16:9 format you are really rolling the dice on burn in at the ends of the pillar boxes.
@@1UpNerdcore +1 to this. I run a RTX 4090 with my Samsung Odyssey, but I keep it capped at 120 fps for most games since that ends up giving me a more consistent framerate

I’m glad it helped! That’s what I’m aiming for as other reviewers don’t cover any of that.
well im gonna get this now i love how much you showed of the screen doing things playing games and used a good camra as well.
Thank you 🙏🏼
got it for a good price and love it.

Sounds like potentially defective as mine sound really good. It is closer to a wall though which helps.

Could you tell us how it's compared to the MSI MPG 491CQP QD-OLED?
Any opinions when compared to MSI MPG 491CQP? Since the MSI at my country is about $110 expensive comprated to this AORUS
Most likely they are the same panel so go with that one if it’s cheaper 👍🏻
@1UpNerdcore thanks man. well found another option which is aw3225qf. Cheaper by $25 hard to resist too 😅

I haven’t used the ROG one but those are two vastly different size
Peak brightness is very low 250 nits. Not to mention that 15W charging is a nonsense. There should be at least 90 PD

With long term use, years down the road it would most likely lead to burn in. How many years I can’t say.
@@1UpNerdcore that's what I thought. Appreciate the reply!
How can I do PBP on one pc so i can watch TH-cam while playing a game,?

I can’t tell without being there in person but it would have to do with your PC settings

great vid though too
no 240hz
No but in triple A games at this size and resolution you’d be hard pressed to even hit close to 240 with a high end gpu
