    Problem with engine from 1:35 min.
    That was problem after chip tunning :-)
    At different intervals during drive, the engine stoped with error.
    I had to give back this car to peugeot service. They reinstalled oryginal maps, and after was everything fine.

    was it the famous "timing belt-in-oil breaking apart and clogging lubrication channels in the engine"? What engineer in its right mind would consider a belt churning oil more efficient than one moving in free air? If you are cheap enough not to use a chain, at least keep it traditional. This here is the reason for which PureTech will not sell as well as it should. It is a pity, because there are chain-driven PureTechs, and they are quite allright.

    • @StudentDriverBR
      @StudentDriverBR 2 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      It's not a normal belt, this system is not as reliable as chain but it's more reliable than normal belts, Ford have a 3 cylinders engine that uses this system and the lifespan is 240.000 KM or 10 years

    • @dorinp007
      @dorinp007 2 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      @@StudentDriverBR It is a normal belt. They had to change the rubber composition in order to make it more resistant to the more hostile environment: hot oil, carbon and metal suspension, etc. Yes, it is the same system that Ford uses on their small, heavily awarded 3-cyl. I know, the stated mission of moving the timing belt in the oil-immersed part of the engine is touted as the ultimate innovation to decrease friction and noise. It might very well be so. However, the actual mission of this change is to simplify the assembly and reduce engine size. Reliability of the engine decreases, cost of servicing grows. The BIO engines from Ford had the same issues (and then some more) as PSA. These small and economic engines are probably not designed to last more than 300.000 KMs, as most people would buy another car before reaching that mileage anyway.

      depends a lot on the model, year and engine. usually the ones from the mid 2000s with small diesel engines (206/207 with 1.4/1.6 HDi - High pressure diesel injection) are the most reliable ones. when the engine gets too complex, or even when it comes to the petrol ones, it gets unreliable. they are terrible cars when it comes to prestige, luxury and inricate mechanical/electronic systems.
      I own a 207 with a HDi engine which my dad completely broke from the inside by forcing restart while the timing belt was damaged. it had 120k miles at the time. we changed various parts such as the camshaft, cylinder head gasket, rocker arms, valves... for less that 1000€ you can give these cars a new life because parts are quite inexpensive. plus it's a nice car when you need to learn some mechanic. I love these cars but I would never trust the newer ones, with these car manufacturers you always need to keep it simple

The diesel shown has a problem which has to be taken care of, but it is not a general representation of the PSA diesel engines, which have shown to be pretty reliable. Besides, i owned a 2006 F-150 5.4 and i had to replace the timing chain along with the solenoid valves, it is a known problem of the Triton V8. So, more displacement doesn't necessarily mean more reliability.

    On my C3 II Hdi 70hp , the supposedly engine failure dashboard light is permanently or at least 95% of the time alight ...
    When the temperature are low in winter , she have a FAP failure , That is to say that the car shows me the same engine failure warning light, goes into degradation, that is to say that it blocks at 2000 rpm and no longer advances as if the turbo were absent, until let the engine reach up to 2200 rpm and then she starts again and doesn't do me any more for weeks.
    The problem of putting Particle Filters on cars, some of whose owners like me, only do 95% of country side road where you can't drive above 80km/h without being a bit suicidal.
    And the worst in this story; it's that you can't remove it, otherwise you won't pass the technical control...
    Because you with your modern diesel car which consumes 4.5L per 100km, you have no right to pollute a little; while Air France and the others, it's the best example, fly their shitty buses with wings, guzzling 10,000 fuel liters an hour without particulate filters and other catalysts like your f****g car, but it's normal, don't say anything lol.
    And then if you want to have this filter repaired or say, it will cost you an arm and a leg.

      @@jxdus2296My ex 206 Commercial have the Hdi 1.4 L with 75 hp under the hood , the same engine that i have actually but with now a FAP that devaluate 5 hp ...
      She was sold on 2013 with 503 000 km to one of my friend , she's still alive today 750 000 pratically , she was rejected from the periodic technical control because of the pollution, but it still works well, even if it no longer has its 75 hp, on the other hand the cylinder head gasket and the original gearbox are in place , it's the rear axle who recently gave up, she drive just for hunting now .
      For a Worst Engine , i love this worst one .
      But i'm ok for one thing when these engines start to have a problem in general, it's a mountain of problems that falls on you.
      The worst Hdi is the 1.6 that you have on the 308 of the third generation called second from the "T9" type, they make head gaskets, the oil capacity is a little feeble and its shape does not allow not to empty all the oil, you have to dismantle the crankcase to do so, these engines also make scrap metal shavings that destroy them rapidly .
      The best is the 2.0 in 90 hp and 110 hp, the 1.4 L Hdi is intermediate, it has had problems, when others have no problems.
      Mine have pratically 10 years old now , the belts looks brand new & are originals from the car for example , i have change my first front tire train this last year , at 80 000 km , she have 70% used brakes ; ( yea i don't drive a lot now ) .
      P.S : Depending on how you drive, what type of roads you take; the speed you are driving and other factors such as the topology of the land or the weather and climate in your area of residence; your cars last much longer here than elsewhere, in temperate climates, vehicles last longer than in places where the climates have less or more temperature extremes or where it's very damp it's a fact .
