    Ahh...the Stones...the excellence of simplicity, the exalted rawness, the beauty of the mess, the fun of the mean, the joy of the rhythm, the taste of the arousing. All in one band, on several songs, in many albums. They indeed deserve all the fame and love earned thru out the years.

    This is one of the best songs that show the incredible, seamless convergence of the guitars of Keef and Ronny.
    Along with the driving pace, It’s pure magic.
    Sure, it doesn’t have the pure virtuoso of of Mick Taylor, who can put you in a trance, but the integration is so much better between these two.

      Terrific performance from shortly after the beginning of Ronnie's tenure when he and Keith had enough time under their belts to really lock together. In Mick Taylor's wake, Ronnie was and is a godsend to The Stones, the perfect musician who came along at the perfect time, although The Stones never expected to be left in a lurch by Taylor's untimely departure. With Ronnie, The Stones turned yet another corner and the rest is history. Any other possible replacement for Taylor would never have worked.

      eh. I actually think the Stones always laid off the booze before and during shows. Or at the very least were disciplined with it. Keith was off heroin on this tour. The interesting thing about this show is the tempo is under control. It doesn't sound like they have been taking lines of coke like so many other shows do. So everything points to them being very sober.

      @Johnnywhamo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seriously, you're an idiot to suggest that. I'll make it easy and bring this to you because you doing 30 seconds of research is apparently impossible.
      Wiki.....
      Some Girls was a commercial success, peaking at No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 1 on the US Billboard. It became the band's top-selling album in the US, having been certified by the RIAA for selling six million copies sold by 2000. Several hit singles emerged from the album which would become rock radio staples for decades, including "Beast of Burden" (US No. 8), "Shattered" (US No. 31), "Respectable" (UK No. 23), highlighted by "Miss You", which reached No. 1 in the US and No. 3 in the UK.
      Rebounding from the relative critical disappointment of Black and Blue, Some Girls was a major critical success, with many reviewers calling it a classic return to form for the band and their best album since Exile on Main St. (1972). It became the only Rolling Stones album to be nominated for a Grammy Award in the Album of the Year category.[2] Retrospectively, it has continued to receive acclaim, with many commending the band's ability to blend contemporary music trends with their older signature style. Considered one of the band's finest records, Rolling Stone has included Some Girls in their lists of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
      So another words...completely the OPPOSITE of underrated.

      I just had the same thought, watching this performance. Ronnie is one of the most "sympathetic" guitarists in rock. He's always watching Mick or Keith to see what is required. He is the great unheralded supporting actor, and can play perfect Stones leads. He never gets the love that Taylor gets (I'm as guilty as the rest) but you can clearly see why Keith loves him around.

      @andzwe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      When people talk about Taylor's time with the Stones they mostly refer to the first three albums he did with them, when Jagger and Richards had a songwriting peak. His ability to excel depended very much on the material they came up with. From what I've heard (and seen) of him during the reunion tour it was probably a good thing he left them after they still brought out the best in each other.
      Ronnie Wood was the perfect fit for the band when Punk and Disco started happening, also because of his stage presence. His role as a guitarist is a lot less prominent than in the Faces, because he's got to adjust to what Richards is playing, in the first place. Apart from that the Stones got two keyboard players and a horn section, who are responsible for quite a big part of the sound and solo's. During this period they got back to basics, just like they did again recently with Blue and Lonesome.
