    I purchased an Electrolux Trilobite (2nd Gen) when they came out. It lasted well and has only died this year. It cost $3350 when I bought it in 2005. Its battery life was appalling, but it was well made and worked reliably for a long time. If the Omni can last as long as that I'll be delighted.

    Great review, love that you mention noise impressions too, so many other reviews seem to be instructed it seems by manufacturers to not touch the subject at all. As you know since you're a dog owner too, sound is important for people with pets :)
    I'm just a little worried getting replacement bags in the long term here in Europe. Also we tend to have quite some lime in the drinking water. Do they touch this in the manual ? Should you use demineralized water, or can you use like a 50% vinegar mix to keep the station and water channels clean ?

    As an owner of an Ecovacs Ozmo 920 (reasonably satisfied with it, though it has issues), what put me off buying the self emptying tower is that all the robot vac manufacturers have taken a step back in innovation with their towers by using disposable bags. I understand dust clouds and static holding onto dust, but there are ways around that, it seems like having paid a premium for these robo vacs 5 to 10x the cost of a premium upright vacuum cleaner if you buy the newest model, the companies want us to continue paying. On the subject of mopping they just need to make the discs wider so it cleans the edges effectively.

    • @AlexTeo

    I am tossing up between the Omni, the Roborock S7 VMax Ultra and the Bissell Spinwave R5. I am impressed with the Omni, but have found the company does not respond to emails that I have sent asking questions. This puts doubt In my mind regarding their after sales service. I like the spinning mops that the Omni and Bissell have. I don't really mind if it does have a self cleaning dock, as long as it carries water. I just want a reliable vacuum, that I will only use on tiles and one that maps well. I feel the spinning mops will get into the grout better than the pad, but I may be wrong. i will suggest to go with either ecovacs or roborock, bissell is really not known for their robovac. The robot needs to return to it during its mopping cycle to clean the mop heads and add more water. If doing that on another floor it will stop and you must bring it back to the main floor where you have the station then bring it back to the floor you were mopping. I have carpets almost in every room.
    If I want to vaccum and mop at the same time, can I still use Omni with the mopping pads and set the carpet areas as a forbidden zone?
    Or is there another way to do so without having to remove the mopping pads?
    TBH I'm a lazy cleaner 😇
    Also, my house has 2floors.
    Do I need to start from the 1st floor, or Omni knows how to take the scales?

    • @AlexTeo
      @AlexTeo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hihi, the newer generation of vacuum robots with mopping is they will avoid going up the carpets to avoid dirtying them, so basically they will just vacuum and mop on hard floors. If you want to vacuum carpets, you have to manually remove the mopping component. Roborock S7 and after has the feature to lift up the mopping by around 1cm when it detects carpet. So it depends on what kind of carpets are in your rooms, if they are low pile carpets then go for roborock as it can clean everything in 1 single cleaning session. If not, then maybe can consider getting 2 robots instead, 1 to do vacuum and 1 to do mopping. Since you have 2 floors, they can run concurrently as well

      Ecovacs sell their own brand of cleaning solution. It's not cheap but it does not void the warranty. I got the confirmation from ecovacs themselves. Those who bought from lazada 10th anniversary sale would've received a bottle for free.
      My experience with roborock is that I once brought in my robot for servicing before warranty even expired. However, the first thing the technician does is smell the water tank and point straight to it after noticing I put cleaning solution into it. The problem is with the wheel grip which cannot grip after floor becomes wet when mopping. I ended up buying a new tank since they keep insisting it's a water tank issue and warranty already void after adding cleaning solution. The new water tank doesn't solve the issue even with clear water. I notice all other other customers bringing their vac in for servicing ended up buying water tanks and mop cloths too. So I got extra careful with ecovacs this time and ask since 3 years is a long time for the warranty they're providing if bought on lazada 10th anniversary sale.

    Hi Alex. Would I be able to activate the cleaning remotely when I am out of the house? Also, is this still your preferred robot after 1 year? Thanks!

      yes you can remote control via the app. My current recommended robot is the dreame L10s

    Hi Alex, i just got the x1 omni today... By any chance would you know why my x1 omni is already asking me to refill the water tank after just 1 cleaning session? Have previously filled it to the max on the first time.

    • @AlexTeo
      @AlexTeo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you physically check whether there are still water inside the clean water tank? I suggest you take some time to observe what the bot is doing in one cleaning session, such as how many times it did the self cleaning, and is there excess water leaking out during the cleaning

    Seeing how the cleaning solution that came with the robot is not sold. What other cleaning solutions do you recommend to go with this Deebot? Thanks.

    • @AlexTeo
      @AlexTeo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should come in later, you can go with tineco or hizero solution too
