    True story: my professor (who is a control engineer) once collaborated with a doctor who was a pioneer in artificial heart surgery, and the doctor told him that he would have pursued control engineering instead of medical had he heard about it decades ago, because he was very impressed with the work my professor had done in designing control for a heart pump system, and he'd realized just how useful and how wide is the range of applications control theory can be applied to.

    I've been watching your videos since I got control theory at college. Even though I already finished the course (thanks to you, btw) I sometimes come back here and watch they again and the new ones. Control System Theory was the last course keeping me back from getting my Bachelors, and I was having trouble understanding it, as they don't teach it very well in Uni. Hello,
      I am also really interested in becoming a controls engineer. I am curious how watching this course has impacted your career as a controls engineer? Did you get a job in controls? Are you able to actively apply the things you learned in this course? I found this introduction to the course video quite fascinating. It give me confidence in my ability to become a controls engineer and I haven’t even started the course yet. I hope it serves me as a reminder to all of the control theory I have learned, as well as teaches me new things I have yet to learn about control theory.
      Thanks,
      Riley

      I did watch most of the videos from this series and I can say it for sure that these videos are the best ones you can find to get a good overview of the subject.

    • @jimbalta
      @jimbalta 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Milan Shah Dead reckoning is pretty simple. x1 = x0 + v*t is basically all it is. Inertial Measurement is similar, but instead of using velocity to get position, it uses acceleration to get to get velocity and then that velocity to get position. It is basically just double integration. However with IMUs, if you are using a strapped down unit, the readings of acceleration are in the body frame, so in order to figure out your position relative to an inertial frame, you must know the orientation of your vehicle, which is why IMUs have gyros as well as accelerometers
