It’s just ridiculous the amount of hate the Kaitlyn got for being open about sex. Meanwhile the bachelor nation was so supportive of Peter and Hannah doing it 4 times in a windmill. It still pisses me off to this day

I think you missed all the hate & shame Hannah missed. I was very supportive but I definitely saw the hate and shame she received.
Kaitlyn is still receiving hate and shame. She said in an interview with ET yesterday that it has started all over again but at least this time she has her Vinos to fight back for her so she doesn't have to let it affect her like in 2015.
For me it was not Kaitlyn having sex was the problem ..it was how she and Shawn booth were a sure thing and suddenly she was falling for Nick and in the end picked Shawn and only dump him later ..but it's way better than Peters season and even Nick s season ..
She shouldn't have been judged at all but I think it was maybe the timing that was wrong

Quite the saga but I'll do my best, as I've seen all the Nick-related seasons...
Nick got his start on Andi's season. He was kind of a villain for being the "I'm not here to make friends" type, but really solidified villain of the season status when he flatly asked Andi in the After the Final Rose special why she "made love with [him] if she wasn't in love" in the fantasy suite. You gotta remember this was 2014, and invited a lot of criticism against Andi, and in turn Nick. Anyway, Nick made it to the final two but was dumped by Andi before the final rose ceremony so as to spare his feelings.
Kaitlyn was the very next Bachelorette, but before she was asked to be, she and Nick hit it off over text and FaceTime before her season filmed. When she was chosen for Bachelorette, Nick decided he could no longer sit idly by and see how things played out, so he joined the cast mid-season. While his actions this season weren't villainous, he had a reputation carried over from Andi's season, combined with just straight up jealousy from the rest of the guys for him joining late that cast a villainous shadow over him, again. He once again made it to the final two, but this time producers convinced Kaitlyn to wait until the final rose ceremony to dump him, in the hopes that America would be more sympathetic towards him.
The following year, summer of 2016, Nick appeared on the third season of Bachelor in Paradise. This was really when America's opinion of Nick finally started to shift; he was a funny on-screen presence and often was an excellent advice-giver to other cast members. He briefly pursued Amanda Stanton, but backed off when she was obviously more interested in Josh (ironically, the guy Andi got engaged to instead of Nick). After Amanda, Nick got pretty seriously involved with Jen Saviano, and they were a fairly no-drama couple. They made it to the end of the show, and though Nick picked out a ring, he ultimately decided their connection wasn't strong enough, and they left the show separately. Shortly after airing, Nick was announced as the next Bachelor.
A recap of Nick's season should be easy to find, but basically his top four were Corinne (villain that America actually loved), Rachel (who became Bachelorette), Raven (now engaged to Adam), and Vanessa, whom he ultimately chose. In interviews since Nick has said that he knew from pretty early on that it would be Vanessa, and just had to figure out how to make it through the process with Vanessa at the end. For instance, he didn't sleep with any other women in the fantasy suite but her to set up their relationship success. However, the two made it clear at the After the Final Rose special that they were struggling, and ultimately broke up later that summer.

In an interview, Nick and Kaitlyn said they took off their mics before they went into the room so they were shocked that the room had a mic in it.

How have I become so addicted to recaps of a show I’ve never watched?!! I love Batchelor Fantake’s perfect combination of appreciation/snark/romantic nature/sarcasm. Plus the bonus Office clips! I tried watching a “real” episode and couldn’t as I prefer the commentary. Anyone else find themselves a fan of this channel even though you’re not a fan of the actual show?

Beware the slippery slope....
I got sucked into the franchise by getting hooked on recaps by Bachelor Fantake and those by the Ellen show producers during Colton’s season. I’d had zero idea of the show before this; had to Google “for the right reasons” (etc.) to even follow along. By the end of the season, I was fully hooked - I watched the finale live, and watched BIP5 and Hannah’s season through the ABC app.
They ended up losing me during BIP6, though - all those setups around Blake/Stagecoach. 🤮 I was looking forward to Peter’s season...but they lost me quite early in that one as well. Part way through episode 2, I decided to stick to recaps. Same with LTYH: with Bachelor Fantake’s amazing recaps (supplemented by Whit & Ry,) I don’t even miss the actual show.
I’ll give Clare’s and Matt’s seasons a chance, though. I keep hoping they’ve learned to let things just unfold more, and stop all the ridiculous interventions 🤞

I cannot believe the level of sexist criticism Kaitlyn received from getting involved with Nick and this was in 2015???
Oh honey, sexism is still alive and well! It's really frustrating how women are still held to a different standard than men. I think it's because a lot of people watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette are conservative and expect the ladies to act all prim and proper. But.....it's the 21st century and we need to be more progressive!

You don't even understand what people let fly in 2015 with this franchise... I kid you not, there were promos made BY the Bachelor, marketing the Clint and JJ thing as "Brokeback Bachelor"... it was so offensive and ridiculous b/c when the episode aired and it was obviously NOT THAT, it was just so badd!! And there's a lot more of that which people forget

I think what people don't know now is that JJ got re-married and Clint was one of his groomsmen. So the two are close TO THIS DAY!

To be complete ass holes. Nick and Kaitlyn has said in interviews that they both took off their mics before they went into the room; meaning the producers had mics in her private room. If you saw the long version of the show, it was way more invasive than what they showed in the short version.

I really like how this season was so disruptive from beginning to end and how Kaitlyn is sort of a Katniss Everdeen of this franchise (complete with quasi Peeta vs. Gale storyline) and her cast is probably the most iconic ever of a Bachelorette season.
And two things that now I can't unsee: 1) The guys ganging up on Nick gave me Alayah in Peter's season vibes, as in, I didn't particularly like her but the others going full Mean Girls on her made me somehow appreciate her, and that's basically how I feel about Nick in this season and 2) Is Clint JPJ's evil twin?
i love these videos because i only started watching the franchise during colton's season and it's nice to be caught up
Kaitlyn has always been my absolute FAVORITE bachelorettes, she’s so unapologetically herself and outspoken about what she gives a shit about. I love her so much.
Rewatching her season reminded me why i liked her so much. Her personality is terrific and her laugh makes me smile. It showed good taste not to show Shaun's proposal. Glad everyone is happier now.
Kaitlyn's season is what started my viewing of the bachelor franchise
I remember wanting Kaitlyn and Nick together. Shawn was so weirdly possessive in my opinion. And Nick seemed to match her enthusiasm and goofiness more. But I’m glad to see her happy now with Jason. I hope Nick finds someone well suited for him. I think he needs someone who’s independent and goofy and maybe with a little bit more of a sinister side

Me too, I watched others but never invested myself until her season.
“I expected to meet the girl who got her heart broken”. Damn, we already knew Caitlin was codependent on this season up to ending her relationship with Alf/Shawn booth but he level of codependency wasn’t that outrageous.
Btw, I met Kaitlin at Rogers’s Ted talk. That relationship with Shawn was pretty toxic. He was just cold but when it came to pictures, he peeked up. Very grateful they wanted to take a picture. They even held me, I didn’t hold back because I would be disingenuous. But, that explains why Kaitlin didn’t value herself and is as strong in her identity as she is now. Very happy for her and she can only get better.
Although I liked Sean better for her, it was sad to see Nick so heartbroken at the end after coming on halfway through the season and enduring all the drama from the other guys. Happy for her now though, her current guy, Jason, is a doll 🤩

I have a couple of ideas that aren't well thought out. 1st. Kaitlyn was always supposed to be the bachelorette. The producers had to know about Kaitlyn and Nick were privately talking. With this knowledge, they knew this would make for good tv. Did they ever publically count the roses the men used to vote? 2nd thought. The producers always knew they wanted Ben to become the next bachelor. They knew he had a minor in sex education and set up that group date specifically for him to shine and have America fall in love with him. These theories aren't major, but are worth noting.
Who paid for Nick's plane ticket to meet Kaitlynn in New York. You can bet it was Producers.

Just an update for people who haven't been following all of the lesser-known cast members as closely since it aired, JJ is now married and Clint was on of the groomsmen in his wedding. So they are still close today
Love Kaitlyn. More excitement should be had over her DWTS announcement. I've never been more excited for a BN contestant. This means so much to her.

Did you watch Andi's season? I always liked Nick and was excited to see him come into Kaitlyn's season. I think it's funny that people pretend he's the villain because I thought back then that Sean was and clearly history has proved it.

I haven’t watched any of the seasons Nick was on, but I have watched many episodes of his Viall Files show. I find him intelligent, articulate, very supportive of strong women, and excellent at understanding interpersonal relationships. He gives great advice. I think he brings a lot more to the table than many of the more standard-issue contestants. Just my $.02 🤷♀️

It had to really suck in the moment. But Nick has actually talked about that moment specifically and says that he’s actually grateful looking back on it that she allowed him to get to that point and actually have a real breakup and actually get mad and say what he needed to. When he was final 2 on Andi’s season, she let him go before the final rose ceremony.
I HIGHLY recommend you go watch Shawn's proposal to Kaitlyn, (you can find it here on youtube) because in this recap version that aired they TRULY only highlighted the negative aspects of Shawn. If you watched the whole season you'd understand that he was JUST AS LIKABLE and funny as Kaitlyn herself, and many of his "possessive" qualities were normal, healthy reactions. Seriously, at least watch their proposal

I am surprised people liked Shawn. He came across as possessive and emotionally abusive to me. Never did he express that he just wanted Kaitlyn to be happy. To me, this guy was throwing down the worst kind of red flags.

That Nick Vial dude (the most uninteresting, basic white dude) getting chances after chances to be on many versions of this show and then getting picked to be the bachelor while Matt James is the first ever black bachelor in 2021 abundantly speaks about the inherent race bias that this show stands for(as clearly evident by recent Chris Harrison saga).

I know Kaitlyn gets a lot of harsh criticism on her looks. Although I think she looks good now , the massive change from here to now is remarkable.., she was such a natural beauty with a gorgeous smile. She changed her teeth and lips and I think this contributed to the radical change in her appearance.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned how Kaitlyn basically spoiled her own season with Shaun Booth by posting publicly on her Snapchat before the finale. I thought that was the reason they didn’t put her on dancing with the stars
I have to ask, because I just started watching with Hannah B’s season. What does anyone see in Nick Viall? Do people find him attractive? After being runner up in Andi’s season, was it like how we feel now for Tyler C? Because I don’t understand the hype.
Nick wasn’t liked in andi’s season because he revealed he was surprised he wasn’t picked as the final rose because he and andi made love in the fantasy suite. Then he comes to kaitlyn’s season and his actions there left people with a bad taste in their mouths. However he had a small redemption arc when he was in BIP that led to him being cast as the bachelor, and he did pretty well IMo, despite not staying with his final pick. Nowadays he has a podcast and though I don’t listen to it that much, what I heard is pretty entertaining.
So in summary, he got a redemption arc of sorts which may explain the hype.
Soleil it seems as if he has a history of sleeping with people on the show..
Sean looks like he could be the son of John Abruzzi from prison break. Their voices and faces are so similar....

This is one of the few seasons I didn't watch, and I've been watching The Bachelor/ette since the beginning with Alex Michel and Trista Rehn ( I didn't watch this season, or Nick Viall's, JoJo Fletcher's, Ben Higgins' or Juan Pablo's).

This was the season that got me hooked in this franchise...Kaitlyn was unapologetically herself and very relatable as a woman...Shawn was a great choice...too bad they didn’t workout
