- The nomadic tribes of the Asian steppes spent centuries entangled in their own petty feuds until united under Genghis Khan. Within years, a highly disciplined army pours out of Mongolia to embark on a campaign of world conquest. But how can a tribe of horse archers possibly overcome the military might of Persia and Eastern Europe, let alone the technologically advanced empires of China?

Since I'm polish I can confirm that there are indeed remote hermit monasteries full of Huskarls all over the south-eastern parts of the country.
11111111111111111111
the game is 100% accurate though. They sit for years, decades even, in those remote parts of Bieszczady mountains and then join and follow around whomever gets to the monastery first with unmatched loyalty, dying in his or her service
Are there goldmines everywhere ?
Yeah, and the only reason they're up there is that they can't find their way down?
LOL
...And so we learned that the Polish were slaughtered because they were unable to deal with the quickwalls of the Mongols - truly the backbone of their legendary conquests.
And in the middle of the battle two heroic villager started to build a wall to blockade of the polish knights from the mongolian Mangudai. It resultet in a bloodbath all because of the two brave villagers.
I was hoping that Green would go straight to vipers base when he triggered his units xDD
i think its cause he walled it
"The fortress of Wenceslas is just up ahead! We cannot defeat them man to man"
Viper: "Come at me, bruh!"
2 minutes later...
Viper: "It was a joke!"
The funniest part is that Viper only had a small percentage of Bohemians' army, but killed them anyway.
Apart from the skills, I love how you have a great sense of humor that shows personality. Really sets you apart from other pro players. Keep up the great work!
I don't know whether I'm delighted or perplexed. On one hand, I would have rather enjoyed seeing you + three castles + mangudai + micro against the Bohemian Post-Imp army.
On the other hand, what you did was actually the true Mongolian way, cav archers/Mangudai and super micro-ing. So, good job! You know what to do in this game better than they do themselves!
K13714 you are correct my friend, Viper plays with the history book by his side.
Damn! Enemies get triggered so much nowadays. It used to be different. Now you can't invade anyone anymore without crazy outrage and overreaction.
TheReacTT 11!
11 "politics, chaps...politics"..."nein, they're just arabs."
@@ahmedisbased what does 11 means?
Uhh, yeah...
"Oh no! They got our flag, our castle and town are fine but we surrender anyway" - apparently europeans are very serious about their flags.
No flag, no country!
Yes, you triggered their attack when you got too close to them. You were even warned two times not to go there, at 10:10 and11:00 . Their army is supposed to attack when a) you have constructed 3 castles there or b) a certain time has passed. You were informed at 23:45 that you take too long to build the castles, that indicates that the attack would have triggered soon without the castles. Since that was at about 32 minutes in-game-time i guess the attack will start at about 40 minutes in-game-time if you dont manage to build the castles earlier and you do not provoke them before like you did.
He was never warned not to go there, he was warned not to fight them, which he never did until they came out of the gates.
you triggered the army, kinda sad cause the showdown between 3 castles and the army is pretty epic.
viper aka never plays campaigns like they're meant to be played 11
Yeah he plays them like it's MP which is annoying
I love the part where the guy says "Hurry, Lord Ogatai! The Bohemian cavalry could arrive at any moment." while Viper is microing the Bohemian cavalry.
8:15 "We've been stuck on this mountain for _fifteeeen_ years..."
I can't stop grinning.
We have been eating this stinking bread for fifteeeen years!
lol, i kind of feel bad for the AI. Having to deal with that mangudai micro
"AI knights fight as individuals, but players fight as part of a united army..." that's pretty much what the narrator said.
the real world european knights was also micro-ed heavily, exactly why they lost at every turn
"The armies of Germany hastened to Poland's defence"... That does not happen very often
At that time Poland wasn't strong - it was divided into small duchies, maybe that's why they helped them. Those small duchies couldn't face the real threat such as Mongols
lol that moment that he accidently triggers the Bohemian Attack
(Dramatic intro with soundeffects)
Viper: Alright so Khan is rip
23:09 "i didnt catch that" i think you cought that shot perfectly ;)
Watching this series, I honestly love how Viper always make things WAAAAY harder than they have to be. Aggroing the army he's told directly not to aggro is just rich, I love it.
Love how there's the 2 villagers at the end inside the Bohemian base, with nothing else to do you task them to build a house right there even though you're at Pop limit. 11
I feel like Viper will make it a point to build a house at pop limit at least once for every mission from now on 11
For less experienced players, it is best to start by building gates on that cliff but before you are given the build the 3 castles objective. This will block the red until you are ready. also build a single gate to block off the blue so they don't come for your stone. then get your economy started and don't forget to collect the relic (only this relic is available in entire Genghis khan campaign) to help you get more gold. the blue makes units from barracks (champions), stable (cavaliers), and siege workshop (onagers) but not huskarls. they do advance to the imperial age and fully upgrade those units. you can defeat the blue early so they don't become too powerful and you can then use their market to trade and you can get extra wood. this scenario also has some walkable cliffs if you chop the trees on them so you can bypass that build 3 castles objective entirely but I think you will eventually have to do that objective. after defeating the blue, the next enemy would be the red. they will make elite teutonic knights from their castles that ai does not rebuild, pikemen, and crossbowmen. If you destroy their keeps they don't rebuild them. once the red goes down. time to fight the green. you can chop down the wood near the relic location and go up those cliffs. bring a trebuchet there and you can reach some of their stuff from over the cliffs and sometimes the trebuchets gain 100% accuracy for unknown reasons. but you can fight their trebuchets that way but be sure to bring many of your trebuchets to win that fight then you can hit everything you can possibly reach including some houses and the barracks. this will lower the amount of units you have to fight and without the green trebuchets, you can then have castles target onagers while mangudai kill the siege rams until they all die. with all their siege down, all what is left is paladins and champions that 3 castles or whatever is left can take care of. all wnat is left is to attack their area. there are a few siege onagers up on the cliffs, destroy them, and some more siege onragers in the area of the castle along with the monks. use your trebuchets to bring down the bombard towers and gates then continue to the castle area. if you defeated the red and blue, destroying the green castle will trigger the victory before taking the flag so be sure to destroy a wall and have a ram closeby to get the flag as your trebuchet fires that last shot on the last castle.
Am I the only one who watches each episode with excitement anticipating that Viper will fail, then get frustrated and say 'You got away again!' like a villain when he doesn't?
Yes.
But he will fail again, that's for sure. Some of the newer missions are terrible.
Overall I don't think you fuxed up too much since the fight would have been similar even with the castles (hit-and-run, as the narrator says in the afterscene)
The order probably was like:
1) Capture Polish and German flags (if you try to take the Bohemian flag before these 2, the scout warns you not to go further up, but you didn't listen! >,
damn that wall off. How do you think of those things that fast?
how did he get to let his mangudai pass and instantly close to block the knight?
For me 6 knights and 2 mangonels came all together, but Viperhaxx let them come one by one...
yedad G perfect timing to make the mangudai pass right before the villager hammer the building
"ok so the khan is rip" an even better quote than " oh no"
6:47 That's why Viper is the best player; not only can he execute build orders and micro like other experts, he can think smartly on the fly.
24:25 too, although he is outsmarting the ai, not an actual player here
Yep he basically made a tower out of 3 magudai and 2 palisade walls
Do you think that a low level player can make that wall in the exact moment? Note how the mangudai enters in perfect timing so the knight is left outside
Lol, first now, after having played this game for 20 years, do I realise that the image of the animal in the intro to the scenario, is of a wolf that lies down in a field.
I've always seen it as some weird mythological giant guineapig with long front legs, laying between mountains. LOL xD
Lol
lol whole point of that campaign was to fight off green with their huge army against your castles. but you didnt really get to see that epic fight. well #clearly new
Genghis Khan died when he was 65. Never made it to 80.
Actually, Genghis Khan's history is obscured. No one really knows when he died. Just speculations since Mongol History is not written.
"...Arrive at any moment!" #CLEARLY.
I love how he always is like "stop micro like a god" and stuff , atleast now he knows how i would feel when i would play against him 11 (i love this videos , cause you play the Campaigns like an online game which makes it hilarious)
That huge army is supposed to come after you build the castles and have an army. You accidentally triggered them i guess.
The attack on the castles is timed. You moved into that area a bit too early so the timer was activated early.
EDIT: I think the later voiceline saying you should hurry up indicated that you triggered the attack in advance.
I don't think so. I played it yesterday and when he said that nobody was coming. The green army is triggered to move to the flags when 3 castles are build OR you go up to their base.
32:49 and 33:01 so true. Teutons don't get husbandry so their paladins are slow, and TheViper kept using hit-and-run tactics with his mangudai.
Pretty sure that bohemian army is supposed to attack you when you have your 3 castles ready xD
Traitor mangonel hahaha
clearly a Decepticon
I just realised in AoK this is way harder without trebs because BBT could one shot rams (the BBT didn't do pierce damage, it did melee)
Two ways of winning each scenario - the right way and TheViper way!
I like the GOT EM at the end
loving these campaigns keep up the good work
Me too. I never thought this would be so entertaining. Unfortunately, there aren´t so many of them.
Yeah same here but seeing them completed from a pro players perspective makes it all the more interesting
bowlchamps37 there are the campaigns from age of kings, conquerors, forgotten, african kingdoms, rise of the rajas and even age of mithology (people suggested them to Viper and he pondered). So there is a lot of material to look forward to.
Not that many? I counted them for you and it is exactly 98 missions. The AoM, if he feels like doing them (and I would love to see it, I kinda like the game), features a total of 57 missions. On titan difficulty, I was never able to beat the "Isis, Hear My Plea" mission, so it would be great if Viper can show me how it's done :)
No Viper. You only trigger the enemies when you attack them. Scouting is harmless.
Bohemians are an exception because they have additional trigger which was outright stated twice and you ignored it for some reason 11
It was outright stated twice that they would come out of the fortress if he scouted up there? Lol did you even watch the video? It said to be careful and that a "man to man fight" would end in defeat. He scouted up there and then those Huskarls he found attacked a passing red crossbowman. He never attacked Green until they came out of the gates. Can't believe so many people in the comments are blaming Viper rather than the game for them being triggered early.
>"man to man fight"
>He never attacked Green until they came out of the gates.
>Viper rather than the game for them being triggered early.
in campaigns you arent supposed to scout the whole map...
or events happen.
GG though. I love how he thought he needed to defeat them.
Great work Viper.. Love your vids... Keep up the great work...
If you delete the castle or any building (if you are constructing ) , your resources came back to you, but if the enemy destroy, you lose the resources
Careful, my lord! The fortress of Wenceslas is just up ahead! We cannot defeat them man to man.
25:10 that villager just ran on the hill to take wood, is that chuck norris?
23:07 never forget
That mangudai wall off was insane.
You encountered a wild Viper! Viper used Quickwall!
>"One at a time..."
>Loses ten Mangudai
how about playing campaigns on fast (2.0) speed? :)
You know you can just walk up to their flags and win this game
Honestly, the guy they chose as the voice actor for this campaign is fucking awesome.
theres 6 mission in each campaign in the original campaigns. The forgotten and the newer campaigns have different number of missions though.
10:35 "ohhhhhh"
I dont know, if there could be a tech, like Goths have, when after research Mongols could train Mangudai from the Archery Range.
Could be cool, but maybe little too strong at the same time.
The birds at the start are Genghis going to Tengri. AT least that's how i always interpreted it.
@Alexandru i doubt killing was considered immoral back then
dude you really are the best player
It's a shame that Mongols can have this kind of success in history. If all people can be conquer by their fear, then i may think human are come from the darkness.
'Oh crap I aggro'd the enemy into attacking by scouting them, that was a mistake"
Proceeds to aggro the main enemy that the game warns you to stay away from by scouting them.
Oh Viper don't you ever change xD
31:40 I like that house. lol
I see you have the bug as well where dialogue get's skipped
Oh boy, another campaign for TheViper to redo correctly.
yeahhhh...still play age of conqueros
good emotion management !!!!
It seems you are a trader
question: why don't you use castle to defend and build wall in front of it? thanks
After the AoE campaigns you can consider trying out the Star Wars version of this game :D
King Viper for Emperor Lord Deity Sir!
nooo why did they trigger ,you were suppose to loose this time ;(
Best. Cutscene. Ever.
You asked if you have now more commercials on your vids since you joined the network: Yes there are definitly more. But i think its still ok. Most important is, you can make a living by all this, so you can feed us with new awsome vids!^^ xD
Cheers, thanks for the feedback.
Hey Viper! Nice vid as always, keep 'em coming, they are awesome content and it's nice to hear that you are interested in the story as well! Can"t wait for the next vid as a Hungarian and as a fan,a certain hero might return ;)
My sincere gratitude to you, Viper! Listening to your fans and implementing their requests calling our Khan Chingis instead of Genghis is all I asked and you really heard me, your fan/subscriber. With all respects from Mongolia!
So we pronounce it correctly here, nice to know :3
The Bohemian cavalry could arrive at any moment!
So yeah, when previously you asked about "What I should do and don't against AI", this counts as don't imho. When the Scenario is telling you to not go somewhere, don't do it. Too bad we don't see the showdown between castles and their sieges as that is a pretty memorable part of Genghis Khan campaign and we also rarely saw you to play on defensive. Instead what we saw is massacre of sieges with broken AI.
I hope you will continue up until the newest Campaigns later. Some of them are very challenging due to high population cap, generally much better AI, and some not-raidable economy. One Vietnam scenario in particular is kinda crazy.
@33:01 'Time and again we fired flaming arrows at them , then retreated out of range' - Viper learnt his micro skills directly from the Khan himself!
外婆这控兵,真是赏心悦目
I'm already foreseeing you creating 1 hour or more campaign videos when you start playing the forgotten....
"Good King Wenceslas" happens to be a part of this scenario. But Genghis Khan beat them all...LOL
The Mongols did not know the ocean called Pacific Ocean. It is so called after Magellan
everything is fair enough for #the_viper
I can't believe you triggered the Bohemians early.
The trigger is only when you fullfill the mission: making the 3 castles.
If the Polish army attacked only when you go into their town, it's only because ai is stupid and coward (in hd version).
But effectively, no need of direct provocation or I always make my town safe first with a wall and gate and tower (because it's very important to scout to know what you must face, even for making the proper economy and military units).
Besides, if you didn't have scouted, how would have you found this wonderful and very useful mighty huskarls? (^_-)
If Bohemians attacked when scouting it's again an hd bug: i've never seen that in the previous version: so annoying!
And polish flag is easy to take when you have killed all his first army (with some knights). Then you can take his ressources.
And why not using trebuchets instead of rams in those kind of small passages with cliffs?
And when all Bohemian army is killed, you don't need to make the castles i guess, just take the 3 flags, it's the main mission (castle is just secondary mission to make the Bohemian army go out of his town: so great bug here in trigger, i don't understand: all stupidly stucked in the middle: why can't the aoe2 developers understand that there are a lot of bugs with the triggers in "so called" upgraded hd versions? I hope they will now: so wasted beautiful scenarios!).
If only the game warned him not to go there, twice. He might not have gone if he was told.
The scout told you not to go there. Usually most ppl would kill blue and take his stuff but this works out as well.
Nice job, I personally don't like the next one its too easy.
Scout said to just be careful because they could not defeat them man to man. That's a lot different from saying "do not go there."
I just walled up blue and build a castle on the little hill next to his tower - blue was out of the game from there bc he could not make rams or trebs.
yo.. what's with the in unskippable ads
Can you give me feedback on length etc? I asked for Feedback on this since I recently joined the Curse network on TH-cam, and there could be unskippable video ads. Please let me know the length of the vids etc.
17:03 So close to the flag, lol
Building house at greens base haha never idle
He died at 65 years though
Micro god
21:56
@tyrant_theviper scouting isn't the problem. The guy said, don't go there, and you went. That was the trigger :D
Der offizielle deutsche Viper Fanclub, sonst noch jemand da?
leider nein
Tja, waren letztes Mal paar mehr Leute...
bugged campaign report to volvo WutFace
Bar bar bar bar!
Viper sure has a reasoning problem sometimes... If green had gone to his base it would be game over
You did the whole campaign completely wrong. But very interessting solution to that...
is it fair for AI to be playing against the world's best?
23:05
Hi what's viper say here? 15:56, he says it often but I've never understand what it means
Fair enough
