      See, I've been missing my hometown in FL because in NC prices are like 100 for bedside table. BUT I think the thing is to look in towns where there are more old people than young people

    I have a great idea for those big TV armoires.
    You do have to get them at a great price.
    Then,,, make them into a craft cupboard,
    Home school storage,
    Or sewing notions and thread holders!
    With covid people are doing more in there homes!
    You will need to put a back on them and more shelfs or baskets.
    I find the ones that already have nice drawers on the bottom,work really well. Then for the top if you have one of those that have electrical plug-in built it leave in!People can use that for their computer to plug-in or sewing machine or light whatever they pick for their craft. Other things are possibly hooks on the doors or whatever customization that you see fit for that particular cupboard.
    I have seen them used as a “ mudd room” ! Kids coats hang up well in the right styles.
    Let me know what you imagine!
    I will be watching!!!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your day and your mom with us. Thrifting is one of the best things to do with your mom and a fantastic way to find cast off treasures to give a whole new life to. I so miss the time that my mom and I used to spend thrifting. Watching the two of you together just made my heart so happy. Thank you for showing that there's more to furniture flipping then the actual art of it. People don't think about the time we take to go to auctions, to bid on online auctions, to follow marketplace, garage/estate sales in the better weather etc etc etc I could go on and on. I keep looking for a solid good priced armoire to use as a craft closet! The dream box costs thousands. Mainly needs shelf or two added inside. People with smaller spaces can put them in their dining rooms and use the table to craft. I love the wing backs that are recliners. So much smaller that those huge ones!

    If we can find those big armoires we replace the back panel that is usually cut away for tv’s. Then we measure to see if it’s doable for one or shelves. You can always get at least one in there. Then paint it up as a standing blanket linen closet, or a ex large dresser with upper shelving. Because it’s a great piece for kids rooms. It allows people to store away kids blankets and gives them drawers to use for their cloth8ng.

    I am amazed at how much I learn from your thrifting videos! I can’t believe the prices in your area. In my area the prices for the same furniture you were looking at would be double. As for the pink swivel chair, you don’t want to try painting again? I know some people were shaming you in the last vid you did on upholstery, but it would be great to try it again only use paint instead of dye? Would love to see that. And love your supportive mom! Not an armoir but...
    I bought 3 matching entertainment center pieces (78x26x26) for $4.99 apiece @ GW. One I'm using as a bed frame for an XL twin memory foam matress (NEEDed, with 2 sons & 8 grandsons ranging from 6'-10 to 6'-10"!) I have plans to add 2 drawers from another piece, and whitewash it.
    The second is going to be resized for a much needed coat closet, there are 2 drawers side by side @ the base. I'll paint it the color of the walls.
    The third is repositionable shelving top to bottom & I'd like to make it into 2 for the garage....need to talk to someone who actually knows something first! 😂
    May be an armoir next!

  • @lindacgrace2973
    @lindacgrace2973 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK, I'm confused. There are two really easy fixes for weird upholstery, and you appear to be unaware of either of them. The first is slipcovers. Obviously, you don't sew, or you would already know that. The second is even easier: PAINT THE FABRIC. It works a treat - ESPECIALLY with light-colored pieces (i.e. white wingchairs). There are numerous TH-cams on the process - you simply mix opaque paint with fabric softener and paint it on. It takes forever to dry and takes multiple coats (you are thinning the paint to preserve the flexibility of the fabric, after all). Also, it does NOT cover underlying prints; the print always ends up showing through. But, you can easily change the fabrics on otherwise good pieces. Napped fabrics ( like velvets or corduroy) are tricky. Sometimes the nap is unaffected and they emerge soft and fluffy; other times the fabric looks like a bedraggled wet cat. So, some caution and a test patch is highly recommended. That trick alone should expand your flipping options. Hope this helps - love your channel!

One more question: if you purchase a veneered piece, what can you do with a veneer say on the top surface? Can you paint it or do you just leave it alone? Thanks. Love you video content. Lauren, in Australia you would at $50/60 for those tables , second hand furniture here has gone through the roof in prices . Also of the chest of drawers you have revamped is worth $400 to $1500 second hand here before you revamp them .
    I live in Melbourne which is way more expensive than Sydney or other stars when it comes to second hand furniture.

    Up here coffee stations are popular (the armoires even better china cabinets). Take the doors off and put a coffee maker and all the fixins, different varieties of coffee, cookies etc. Small plates and mugs, drawers for napkins and your supplies etc. Styled to be attractive for a wedding gift, for a b&b or inn, even a cafe etc. The outlay is very low, people give them away and if you get one with square lines or remove excessive embellishment they'd be easy to refinish. Fancy up the back of that center shelf with a transfer, logo etc. and jazz it up with wallpaper in the back of the shelves.

  • @dechinta
    @dechinta 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I LOVE the pink chairs! I'd have bought the two solid pink ones and also the wild one at 2:00. Of course, I live alone so I can have any color I want in here. I have two maroon colored velvet chairs that people are always trying to buy from me. I just love me some pink! Not particularly Barbie pink or pepto bismol pink, but I did like that dresser that was painted Barbie pink. LOL And I'm 63 years old!
    21:12 I can't imagine anyone purchasing these, but I would love to see what you would do with them if you refinished them. Those would be fun in a playroom if you had twins. I have a great niece and great nephew and I painted and put their names on some random chairs and these would've been so cool to have used if I had had them. I remember sitting in these kind of chairs in grammar school and I'm left-handed and it was awkward to use while left-handed. 😐
    21:18 Have you ever tried to paint a leather/pleather or even fabric piece. I have a friend who painted her leather sofa and it looked amazing! I have a leather sofa and loveseat and I don't like the color, so would love to know how to paint them. I don't like sitting on leather either, but that's besides the point. I might sell them and get something more comfortable.
    22:50 I wish you had shown the chair with the rounded front of the seat to the left of the piece you were showing. That would be interesting and it's different. I love anything odd.
    Awesome video!

    How would you move really big stuff such as an extra-large dresser or a king bed? Would you consider doing a piano?
    In my area, there's lots of free furniture on Facebook Marketplace and the free section of Craigslist. There's also email or Facebook groups about free giveaways. Do you ever do those or is it too much time and energy to drive to them and check out the pieces?

    Thrift stores are where the poor buy their furniture. The flipping craze has caused price increases that make things hard for them to afford. Wish we there was some other way that would work for everyone.

    • @FurnitureFlippingTeacher
      @FurnitureFlippingTeacher  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Paula. Thanks for being here!
      We actually get messages from people of all walks of life that are apart of this “flipping craze” community of ours. So I’m not too sure I necessarily agree with that. Take into consideration that inflation is on the rise as well so that could be a possible factor in prices (everywhere) rising.

      @@FurnitureFlippingTeacher Agree...but that's not helping by using as an excuse. Maybe donate a finished piece or two? I'd be willing to send a donation.

    Do you add sliders for drawers that don't have them? I have a antique dresser that the drawers don't even have stoppers.. it's pretty old, but it's cute and I'm thinking of flipping it for my first piece since it's free😉 but I just don't know if I should add sliders or at least a stopper so the drawers don't go in too far..🤔 thank you in advance

    I live in the UK and thrift stores or charity shops as we call them, are much more expensive. Love your videos. I love a flip but I find it hard to find a piece that is reasonably priced for upcycling and making a profit. Still love to watch you.

    ARMOIRS - put shelves in the top and turn into a tall dresser - find semi matching pieces and make an entire bedroom set. Find more matching pieces and make bedroom set.

    Help! I am a fellow teacher too! I need help! I am refinishing a hutch for myself. Part of the top is not real wood. I primed everything and used chalk paint. It looked beautiful and then I put a poly finish on it, and the non-wood parts are yellowing really bad! Do I need to sand it all down and then shellac first? Thanks!

    Drawers are usually just the plastic guides on the back of the drawer.
    Paintable wood filler or the wood apoxy works great

    Our Goodwill has furniture in the back of the store, but I discovered that many of the dressers are set up near the very front of the store near the windows. I am glad I figured this out because I scored a Thomasville dresser in great shape for $45.

    I think, for the taller big units you could take the doors off and put vertical shiplap in back to cover the cut outs. Then paint white. Add hooks. Figure out how to make the bottom part a bench and it’s a hall tree unit of a back inference

    The thrift store prices here in the northeast, have been high for quite a while now. I think there are a number of things fueling it. Also, selling on FB marketplace out here, just purely stinks! I used to do very well, not so much anymore. Between the low traffic and the low ballers, it’s a waste of my time.
