Thank you Tonya for literally comparing the 2 shops. I live at the beach in South Jersey, there is one GW location that I have found some real treasures. The glaring issues are most, not all the prices have drastically gone up. If the odds are in your favor if the associate in the back room pricing the merchandise, does not know anything about vintage, the price will be an incredible find. Having worked in retail management for centuries,😂, a great majority of the clientele trash the store. Keep in mind GW gets their donations for free. If I could “do over” GW, I would reduce the CEO’s salary, raise all the employees and totally restructure the company. Don’t put out broken, chipped, damaged goods, hire merchandisers to keep classifications organized , remodel the bathrooms and the break room for the associates. Be transparent about the money GW has donated to the local Community, and give their employees an opportunity to go college. It was a pleasure to hear the Manager, in the second thrift shop talk about her work, she is a smart young lady who is spot on! Thank you, Tonya, let me say again for all your Fans, “Welcome Home”!
I live in South Jersey by the shore (but I grew up in Ocean City) and if you live in my area I would guess your talking about the EHT Goodwill. I know that sometimes I do get great vintage items at a great price, as you said, depending on who is pricing it (I guess) and what they know. Their clothing has also gotten CRAZY! I got my Granddaughter some things yesterday and they had a little Old Navy (used) summer dress for $6.99! I could get that NEW for that price! I love your restructuring idea (I have over 17 years of retail management experience also) I really wish someone would come in and take Goodwill back to what it was and should be.
@@shannon_w. Yep, the same location, we may meet in the aisles. You will find me talking to the associates, great hires by the Manager! Happy thrifting 👍
It just wasn’t a Sunday without you! So happy to enjoy these videos again! Prices have risen, but there are still good deals to be found, just takes time and a keen eye. Definitely shop on half off days and senior days.
The second store was absolutely amazing ,the prices, the merchandise. ,incredible. Wish I could beam myself to it ..wonderful Music ,love it . Thank you so much 🙏
Nice to see you back! You still have the best thrifting videos, and as someone who also writes, I know how difficult it is to finish one book let alone two. I'm so proud of you for that.
Hi, Tanya ! I couldn't watch this video yesterday because I had company all day. But, I was happy to see your notification and I knew that the world was normal again. I loved this new way of filming, maybe doing it half the old way and half this way because we like hearing you talk in between. My favorite thing was that CorningWare ™ collection. I can't wait to see part two.
So have been waiting for you to come back. Praying you are here to stay. I love your videos . Wish I could find some of the great sales you find. Let the videos roll!
I love watching you on utube you show so much and not much talking about what it is etc you leave it up to the viewer to decide whether they find it interesting or not, some other utubers talk to much and it spoils the experience. Thankyou.
This is Grandma from Texas. So happy to see your video pop up this morning Good to her your sweet little voice and know that you are well. Sounds like exciting content to look forward to. Thank you for bringing it to us. 👍🥰
Hi Tanya Well I went today to Sacramento and went to Upscale Thrift, the one you showed and the other one on 21st Street. I was impressed with how clean and upscaled they are. I didn’t find anything from the first one but the 2nd one I did. They didn’t have Senior day there but they were willing to reduce prices if asked and that was so great for me. They all were very professional. I had a great experience and will go back. Thank you for sharing ❤️🙋🏻♀️
That thrift store was amazing and reasonable priced. That would be my go to store finds. Some thift stores know how to do it if they want to push out and bring in more. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤.
Happy to see you back. You're the only thrifter I've watched that comes from my old home state.I get a little homesick sometimes watching you.I'm now stuck in Florida.Loved that last store you were in.I thought the prices were good compared to some other places I've been seeing. ❤️ 😍 H
I am in Rancho Cordova. Our Salvation Army closed down and the GW never has anything nice. I know where I am going next weekend! Thank you for this awesome video. 😊
Tanya, I love that you check out old crystal and other beautiful things, not just high profit or easily shipped items. Always a relaxing time watching and listening to your videos. Happy Hunting!
Hello there I’m new to your channel, it was so nice of you to share that store with us. I live in Vallejo go to Sacramento every so often to go to farmers market and also to some of their thrift stores. I will enjoy going to this one.
Welcome!! They restock all day long. You're gonna love it! Also, The Antique Faire will down the street from the farmer's market after September, in case you haven't checked that out yet.
I love going in thrift stores to see all the treasures. I inherited my moms Franciscan Desert Rose dishes and I'm looking for more dinner plates. Trying to find the original ones are hard and all I find is the newer version. The original ones don't chip or break as easily as the new ones and I can feel the difference when I hold them. I enjoyed your video 😊
I like the selection of teapots. I cringed when I saw the price written in marker on the silver plate coffee pot. The prices are higher than here in West Virginia, but so is the quality of the items. If that light flowered chair was comfortable, it would be sold!
Decades ago I thrifted out of financial necessity. It was quite helpful. Seeing how ridiculously priced the Goodwill has become is discouraging. Fortunately I’m in a better place financially and don’t need them. It seems mostly resellers patronize their stores now. I don’t know anyone who shops there anymore unless they resell or are looking for furniture to flip.
I shop there for vintage and antiques because that's what I love. Beautiful things for my home I'm a vintage soul not for resale but I come to say more young people are shopping the thrifts stores now. than ever before more so for name brand clothes and the others young people are there for financing gain ...I help them sometimes once I showed a young man vases that was old he took his phone and saw that they were $300.each ....I will say goodwill prices is outrageous....I hear people are saying they will stop donating to goodwill their greed will take them out.
Both of those are about 5-7 mins from my house, but the goodwill on Manzanita gets so many resellers I stopped going there. Upscale thrift always has amazing finds
In Michigan most Goodwills are not well stocked. Salvation Army stores seem more organized and better stocked, although prices at both have gone up in recent years. I agree that independent thrift stores are the way to go. Especially because their profits usually stay in the community.
I rarely go to the 2 Goodwills in my area. Their prices are outrageous. Even the prices at the bins at the outlet are incredibly expensive. Weighing clothing is fine but weighing home decor items can cost as much as the new, store bought ones. I do go to Salvation Army, Last Chance Ranch, Sweet Repeats, Nova, Pink City, Restore, and Nine Lives. These thrift stores benefit the animals in distress, people with limited resources, people with cancer and survivors, and those struggling. Not sure who Goodwill benefits.
I've pretty much given up on goodwill because of their higher pricing .... and the way that they ruin pieces that could be gifted to someone. The sharpie marker should be banned. You can't get sharpie off of bisque!! I've been giving my business to the hospice thrifts, battered womens thrift, Salvation Army, mom & pop thrifts. Better pricing!
@@erinmaxwell8133I sooo agree with you!!!! Also I know they put the price stickers over the products sticker to deter resellers but some of us are just collectors and like to have the stickers on there. Also when they tape items together and the tape takes the paint off of the items ☹️
@shannon_w. They still get peeled off!!! All the time. So it's not detering anyone. The SF goodwills are giving classes to resellers. They should be happy there are so many that want to buy from them. I feel they ruin things on purpose. And that's not right. Our Goodwill store had gone to 2 prices on plush .. .69 or .99. I bought so much plush for my grandbabies. I shopped there for christmas gifts. I bought for my decor, and holidays. Shame on the person who decided to raise pricing SO high. That's less than $$ in GW pockets for their programs. The last couple of times i went, i got way less than I normally do. And on every aisle people were complaining about prices and how much they can no longer afford. There pushing people away.
@@erinmaxwell8133 the same for me. I go in there hoping to find some kind of bargain and I definitely buy way less than I used to also. Years ago when my kids were little I used to shop in GW for necessity because the prices were so cheap and I could afford to dress my kids so nicely but now you can buy new clothing at the same price as used clothing at GW! I also hear all of the people talking about the prices and the prices are how I meet a lot of people when I do shop in GW because we all seem to have sticker shock. Yesterday I saw a decorative picture that had a Dollar General $3.00 price tag on it and GW tried to cover it with their price tag (which they did poorly because you could still see the original price) and the were charging $3.99 for the $3.00 Dollar General picture!
Prices seem to have gotten much higher everywhere! Unfortunately it does change how and where I shop whether I like it or not but I still manage to find what I want/need at relatively good deals anyway ❤ so nice to see your videos again!
I’d love to come thrifting where you are there are so many interesting thing’s unfortunately I live in Australia there are nothing like this in over here.
I've never been to a GW that possibly decreases the value by writing the prices directly on the items. 🤔🤔 Here in TX they use price tags that are easily removeable.
What in the world is going with the prices on all the older heavy cut glass bowls and platters? Doesn't everyone have at least one stored from their mother/grandmother/or their own wedding? 12.99 for a dull looking glass bowl. What am I missing?
Agreed! That's exactly why I show other thrift stores in my GW videos. The smaller, independent thrift stores are really showing up and showing. out lately!!!!
I live in Mississippi. Mississippi and West Virginia, in alternate years, vie for the pitiful title of "poorest state," which is nothing to brag about; however, it absolutely correlates with the affordability of thrifting here. It is cheap! I watch a good bit of thrift/resell vids on YT, and I also thrift a lot, so I'm able to compare what I pay to the prices that I see in vids. I pay 25 & 50 cents, a dollar, two dollars for the same items that cost a minimum of 2.99,4.99, etc; and I pay $6-8 for things that elsewhere are priced 19.99+. The dollar just goes much further here. If you could see what I got for $103.52 just yesterday at 2 estate sales - it would probably blow your mind.
I will add though, in recent years, I've come across sales and stores where the people doing the pricing have googled something (without understanding to look at SOLD values) and priced items at ridiculously exorbitant numbers. Are they pricing to keep it or are they pricing to move it! When I see this happening, I just don't shop there anymore - they're off the list. These stores that over-price - I see them become more and more congested with inventory and fewer and fewer shoppers; which is really poor management, especially when your proceeds are to benefit a charity. If they priced lower, they'd actually sell more - hello?! Conversely, at the places I do shop, I build a rapport and am likely to be given discounts and better deals.
I haven't been to GW in over a month. I used to fill my cart for around $80. The last time I went I only got a few items. And twice now, I've watched the workers toss glasses, plates and mugs back into carts (breaking a lot of it) becuz it's overpriced and didn't sell. I went 3x in 1 week just to see what the product turnover was .... stuff was just sitting on the shelves. On every aisle people were complaining about the new higher prices. IMHO ... Whoever came up with the higher pricing model... I'm pretty sure they've lost their mind. How is GW funding programs when you're throwing stuff in the carts and it's breaking? $5 for a mug?? You can buy it new! Writing in Sharpie across a dolls forehead ... or on the tush tags of plush. I bought a plush grab bag for $6.99. Opened it, and every single one was moldy!! Thankfully a mgr refunded me. I used to gift a lot of items I found at goodwill. They're ruining those pieces that I would normally buy for my family. It makes no sense to me. .
Se todos pensassem da mesma forma como essa proprietária da loja esse mundo seria melhor aqui jo Brasil 🇧🇷 comprar em mercado de pulgas,, brechos ou usados ficou muito mais caro que comprar novo não vale a pena pra nós
Guess they have to raise prices to pay employees $17/hr. Considering they get everything for free, guess the wealthy owner needs to maintain his lifestyle. What happened to helping people in need? My local GWs have mostly junk and stuff from China.
I love that store. Oh my ut was amazing. Thanks for sharing stay safe and have a blessed day. 👍

It's whatever tag sale that was for prior week, that tag color becomes the 1.99 on following Monday.
