Bruh. You’re a life saver with this video. I’ve always loved GM SUV’s. It’s all I’ve ever owned. K5’s. Suburban. S10-blazers. This past February I bought my first trailblazer. Found an 03 with 92k on it. Flawless body. Not speck of rust. Solid quarter panels and rockers which is insane for a GM that’s 15+ years old. This thing is the definition of lightly used I absolutely love it it’s been my daily driver the entire year and it’s been absolutely flawless. Last weekend I went to put a new battery on before winter since mine was on it’s last leg. Started it up and click click click click click click click.... It goes off after about 60 seconds but I was looking through the Chiltons manual and I’m sitting here thinking oh my god this is going to be such a pain in the ass to get to I’m gonna have to pull the dash. You totally just saved me a case a beer and Saturday afternoon. Well... maybe not the beer, but the bulk of my afternoon 😂 Thanks a million.
My A/C in my 2007 Trailblazer hasn't worked for about 7 years on the top vents. I finally found you video and I fixed it. No more driving in the Texas Heat Thanks To You. Thank You for the Video!
Thank you! I had the opposite problem, warm air on the drivers side but cold on the passenger. It's winter and my kids were freezing! Well, someone before me must have had the ac problem on the passenger side blowing warm. When I went to disconnect the control unit to turn it manually as you suggested I discovered that it was unplugged. So I plugged it back in and it works fine! Come summer time I may have to disconnect it again..... Thanks again for posting this video. Me and especially my kids are happy and warm now.
Last night I replaced the ac blower motor resistor and I followed your move by disconnecting the blend door actuator and used a ratchet wrench to turn the dial to open the front vents. I had this problem for over a year and never thought how simple it would be to just bypass the fancy operation and just close the vents on the dash if I don't want the air on my face? Thanks for the video, papa.
i just did the tutorial for my 06 chevy trailblazer and it actually work thank u so much for this video today is so hot and humid glad to have my front vent open and functional but instead of using a screwdriver to turn the actuator i used a needle nose plier and a quarter thanks again
BRO!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I changed the wrong freaking actuator at first!!! Thanks to this, I changed the correct one and everything works now. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
Very appreciative of you taking the time to post this video! I saw some negative comments from people that were undeserved. I do not see anyone else taking their time to try and help :) Thanks again!!
Good lookin out homie! Although this did not work for mine (only bc the actuator was so seized up) I just took the actuator off itself and turned the lever by hand. Worked like a charm. Back to blowin snowballs ❄❄❄🌬 Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I just found it, went outside and in no time had the a/c blowing through the dash vents again. Instead of just the defrost/floor only vents. I have a 2008 Trailblazer
i appreciate your video. you did how ever not understand what you were talking about, also the problem is not "fixed". it sounds like you were close to fixing it maybe. you were not clear on what your problem was. the actuators open and close flaps that either block air flow and/or redirect it. you got up close with your camera and a light and that was pretty awesome. thanks
Great info. did this & unplugged the actuator and vent works. The problem I'm having is that it resets back to defrost only when the truck is restarted.
awesome man thanks! didnt have the right tools so i used some needle nose pliers to get the panel off then actually just reached up and unplugged the actuator was having some trouble turning the door but so i used a nickle lol and it fit perfect and was simple to turn thanks for the video man helpled tremendously
1 of the best how to videos for Trailblazer AC/Defrost fix bro! my Trailblazer SS has this problem and i need to fix it before summertime here in Las Vegas. cause fuck that with no AC in the summer here lol...all of my shit works in the TBSS except no air coming out in the vents. i just need to switch it manually like you did in the video and call it the day.
They are 15-25 dollar parts online. They default to defrost for a reson...so you can keep your windshield clear....fogging, ice etc. The only added steps once you get to this point is unhooking the wire harness amd removing 2 screws
Very informative video. It should work to resolve my issue. However, you did fail to mention a few key points. 1) you need metric tools to remove the panel and the wire bundles attached to it, 2) that lower blower vent you moved has a wire attached to it (at least mine did) so don't get crazy when tugging on it to get it out of the way, 3) you need to be a double jointed, skinny armed, oompa loompa to get you hand up in there to turn the little knob. Now let me go track down some scrawny kid that can get his hand up there, after I get a metric socket set.
bro I am living in PUERTO RICO, 2005 gmc envoy slt 4.2 i6 dual climate control, right side mixer door stuck wide open , left ice cold , I did like you suggested, but 1st I unplugged to make sure it was right actuator , air went to defrost and to floor with blend door actuator unplugged , jammed a screwdriver in turned , heard it close , man my car is in Puerto Rico, we don't need no stinking heat Down hear. I wish I could shoot a few pics to you to add , but it would have been a 200 plus parts job to have someone do , and I would have changed actuator , but screw it , lol it works , and did not cost me anything .
Trail blazers are great 4x4's the drive trains beefed up and all motor options can put out 300k mi with 0 issue as long as you treat it right . but the electrical (and Components) is a joke on my 06 Ls there's been over 5 recalls and multi maintenance repairs done at home . I'm currently getting ready to hand the truck down to my teenage son and have been repairing every little thing . great video bro
My 07 Trailblazer 4.2 has been trouble free since new. Tires, brakes, battery,n regular oil changes r only maintenance I've done. No electrical problems with mine. Trouble free for 200,000 miles.
Ppl please purchase a laser pointer pen when trying to give detailed information. They are very cheap & Dollar Tree stores even have these now! Thanks for the video by the way!!
I took mine to pep boys to get the AC condenser replaced. All my vented worked perfectly until I got the trailblazer back. QUESTION .... would that cause the vents not to work?
Sweet my problem isn't heat it's the air coming out of the center vents period I hope this works, sounds like the same problem my 02 TB LT. is having gonna have to rig it like u did for now and buy the part a little later but thanks bro! So I leave the wire harness unplugged from it until I get a working one? I have a digital air control so I think I'll take the fuse out too lol
I have 2003 Chevy Trailblazer my air conditioner Works only in the morning time and if I try to put on any other time during the day it blows hot can you please tell me what your opinion is on this
This video has been more helpful then most I seen but I just want to make sure I replace the correct one. I had my battery replaced then my passenger side vents started blowing hot air and my driver side is cold. In order to fix the hot air from passenger side will I need to replace the one that you showed on the passenger side under glove department?
Raquel Calderon if you recently replace the battery, and you started getting hot air because of it i would give it a while for the computer to reset maybe a week or so of driving
mundokristiano okay thank you I will, I tried to reset the fuses but still nothing... and I'm thinking it is the actuator because I hear that knocking noise from my glove department sometimes but never paid much attention cause the air always worked. But thank you again

Thank you my friend, you are a great man taking time to show the fix!
i just did the tutorial for my 06 chevy trailblazer and it actually work thank u so much for this video today is so hot and humid glad to have my front vent open and functional but instead of using a screwdriver to turn the actuator i used a needle nose plier and a quarter thanks again
Thanks a lot. This really helped; I was able to replace the actuator, even with the tight space but I did it. Now it works good. Saved a lot of money.
Same problem here. Was looking for a quick easy fix found it here. Thanks
A huge thanks for your video. We were able to rig our AC until we can afford the part to properly repair it.
Thanks for the info just did it on my 02 trailblazer worked like a charm.
Hey thanks for the video, I was having the same problem. I followed your instructions, and now my AC is blowing good through the vents.
Thanks Papa, you answered a question to my problem that was 2 years old.
thanks saved me a ton, I was having issues since buying this used truck. now i have heat out of the front vents. Thank you again
BRO!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I changed the wrong freaking actuator at first!!! Thanks to this, I changed the correct one and everything works now. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

It’s 2018... I’m going through his right now, so thank you very much.
Thanks for the video. I just found it, went outside and in no time had the a/c blowing through the dash vents again. Instead of just the defrost/floor only vents. I have a 2008 Trailblazer
Thank you soooooooo much, very helpful and saved me like 60 bucks...just for the part...totally works...on a 2002 trailblazer...!!!!! Thanks again
Thanks for doing this video, cut out a lot of the guess work with source of the issue and where the actuators are. Thanks again
My wife's has the 2 in the back and the top in the front that we are fixing to do here soon thank you for the pointers that helped a lot

Thank you man saved me a trip to the mechanic
Best one yet thank you for explaining which ones do what!!!!
Thank you for this video cause i had no idea why i only had one side actually working
Awesome MacGyver fix!
I'll check my actuators.
They are 15-25 dollar parts online. They default to defrost for a reson...so you can keep your windshield clear....fogging, ice etc. The only added steps once you get to this point is unhooking the wire harness amd removing 2 screws
Thanks bro! Your video really helped. You actually explained where and how to fix it unlike ither videos lol thanks bro
Thanks bro it's really useful, I have exactly same problem with my 2009 Blazer
I always seem to forget which actuator does what, and this was the best video that explains that. Thanks for you help sir!

Thank You So Very much Bro. So much trouble with mine, now I know.

+Calvin S. i actually did this without taking off anything from dash. top actuator is easier to get to if you can reach up. took 5 minutes.
+Anthony Leinweber what did you use to turn the metal circle
Anthony Leinweber you were able to reach underneath and remove the actuator without removing the dash or what exactly did you do?

Best vid about this trailblazer problem
Bro this helped a lot, im having this exact issue. It makes an annoying clicking sound for a while then just stops, but no air to the front vent
Then the gears in the actuator are probably broke or is stuck
Thanks. That is exactly my problem. I will try your no money fix it because I too just want air through the dash vents. Hope it goes well.
Dude thanks. Just bought a used envoy with this problem and I'm gonna do the same cause I live in Florida and no need for heat got plenty.
Thanks man, that is really helpful!
Thank you for uploading this
great video man. thank you for posting it. I had the same issue.
I had the same issue with an 03 Trailblazer. I replaced the actuator that you disconnected. It cost me around $62 for the part.

Good info. Thank you!
Thank you very much. Now my cmpressor went out..
Ppl please purchase a laser pointer pen when trying to give detailed information. They are very cheap & Dollar Tree stores even have these now! Thanks for the video by the way!!
Or mentioning the round circle. I'm no genius but all circles r round or the wouldn't b called circles. 🤭
thanks for the vid bro!
thanks. that helped me out
Thanks for the information
Having same problem by doing this do you have air blowing all the time or you're still able to set your controls as normal? 2006 envoy
I need help finding out how to take the dash off like you did to get started. Is there another link I can check out on that?
After I opened it up with a screwdriver and unhooked electric, then restarted and it was closed again?
I would buy you a beer!!! Been screwing with this for days
good lookin out im having that problem and i was gonna pay for it. im gonna do this myself. sweet video
Im trying to do what you did but im having a bad time trying to turn the metal thing.
I took mine to pep boys to get the AC condenser replaced. All my vented worked perfectly until I got the trailblazer back. QUESTION .... would that cause the vents not to work?
Nice video, good job.
How did you turn the metal switch?
thanks a lot man ,good video save me some money
Sweet my problem isn't heat it's the air coming out of the center vents period I hope this works, sounds like the same problem my 02 TB LT. is having gonna have to rig it like u did for now and buy the part a little later but thanks bro! awesome - showing us the actuator! thanks
Thanks bro that helped
I wish you would have made a video of how you put a screwdriver on there and turned it because we are struggling to turn that SOB.
whats the part number for an 05 trailblazer. I'm having this same problem. Please and thank you
Great Job!!!
This video has been more helpful then most I seen but I just want to make sure I replace the correct one. Very helpful! I have the same issue right now. Mine also will only blow when set on high (5). Any idea what controls the speed?
The blower resistor located behind the glovebox has failed. It costs $17 and is easy to replace.
Is this the reason why no air blowing out across the top vents?
very helpful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks much - repair shop told me $700 to fix this! I can do it for free! Gracias
My vent works but throws hot air when it's supossed to be cold and I hear a clock ticking noise. Do you think this is the same problem
Thank you!
Are all 4 actuators the same part #s
