    They make the strombolis with red sauce in philly and they are sold calzone style........all this time we've been calling them strombolis. Thanks for the clarification

      Philadelphia is the birthplace of the Stromboli and is traditionally made with Italian bread dough which is different from pizza dough.

    Always thought the difference between the two was one had sauce inside and one didn't and the one that didn't you dip it after it's done and you are eating it.

    The BEST calzone around SWFL. Have been going here since I was a teenager and for my third child, I was going to get a calzone once a week! Everything made here is delicious!! 🤗☺

    Both look eminently smashable. I'd order my calzone with pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, bacon, mushroom, black olive, green pepper, onion, artichoke, ricotta and mozzarella.

    Stromboli...dough rolled out, layer of Genoa salami, then Capicola (spicy ham), then layer of provolone, and finally topped with mozzarella cheese. I make them at home better than the pizza guys do.

    Calzone has pizza sauce. It's a pizza folded in half. Stromboli is like a italian cold cut but rolled w/ pizza dough instead of a sub roll.

    WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG... If your place is making their strombolis with pizza dough, they have zero clue what they are doing. THe difference between a calazone and a stromboli is a stromboli uses BREAD DOUGH instead of pizza dough. Don't believe me? why not google the first stromboli... they come from Philly where they know a thing or two about bread.
