I cannot speak for everyone but I started unsubscribing from a large amount of Destiny Content Creators because…they largely stopped making content about the game, the weapons, the new missions, builds, etc.
Most of the Content Creators have been making constant videos about “The Death” of Destiny since the second round of Bungie Layoffs. I am tired of the negative click bait running up and down my feed. I get enough of that from political posts.
I did not want an influencer telling me how I should feel about the game while bringing very little useful information to my gaming experience.
Yes Final Shape was the end of the culmination of the Destiny Storyline that has been running for 10 years. Basically It is their “End Game.”
For some reason there is a huge push for Bungie to know exactly where they are driving the story before we had even really finished the annual expansion.
Most of the exotic mission videos I looked up recently were rushed and incomplete. So, I just started figuring out most of the last few with my friends through trial and error. Then taught others. Cut the cord from the TH-cam Nation.
There has been a large amount of unrest in the Destiny crowd but the Content Creators have been largely fanning the flames and basically telling everyone to retire the game. Destroying their own channels in the process.
It has been interesting to observe you guys crapping on your own plate.
As long as the game entertains me and I have a good time working with the other players I will play it. If that changes I will find another. No drama required.
If you make content that is useful to my gaming experience I will watch it. If not I probably won’t view it.
I do appreciate you sharing your perspective on the situation.

I agree to a certain point, but if people don’t enjoy a game, then they’re going to stop playing and tell you why, regardless of big TH-camrs and streamers voicing the same opinions or not. People enjoyed Into the Light, people enjoyed The Final Shape itself, but everything else for way more than a year has been hit or miss at best, and people are obviously tired of it.
Also, I might as well add that the freelance point you mentioned simply isn’t a good one. If a TH-camr or streamer was hired by Bungie to only say good things, then is that not even worse than independent TH-camrs and streamers voicing their honest opinions and spreading the word of the player base? TH-camrs and streamers allow video game companies to much more easily hear the voice of the people specifically because they have more outreach.

This isn't a Destiny problem, this is a content creator problem. Any rich and successful person will tell you to diversify your income for long term success, but people just want to play their singular game forever and hope everything they like lasts forever because they like it. You should never build a channel off a singular game because any singular game can die at any point.
Yes before anyone says things like "Oh but Minecraft" "Oh but World of Warcraft", these are exceptions to the rule, the rule is 99.9 of games do not maintain that success so banking on your 1 game being the 0.1 is just crazy especially when you look over to streaming and see all the biggest people popping off right now are doing variety content and variety games.

well i agree here, destiny was shaping up to be a world of warcraft type game in terms of its longevity so i dont blame creators for thinking it’ll remain stable into the foreseeable future. another comment made a good point by saying destiny hasn’t really expanded but just cycled the same formula for far too long. this is majorly due to bungies fear of over delivering and thus mismanaging the game, its health, and its growth. i’m hopeful for the games future now that tynson green is at the helm steering the ship but it’s safe to say that shakeup would have been much needed a few years ago before we got to the 10 year mark. with destiny being originally announced with a 10 year plan, that’s as long as many people were subconsciously ready to spend on the game and now that we’ve reached that point they haven’t seen the game expanding in a meaningful way so thats it for them.

So before it was hope thinking less content for a bit sure but then D3 revitalisation, now it's just less content then nothing or more of the same less content? So I don't understand why anyone would be hopeful on the games direction when we know this to be the case for now atleast?

As for the people saying they dont wanna hear politics about the situation, may I remind you that politics has always been a contention against video games and with the dabbling of Thinktanks such as SweetBaby Inc. They've always been around (Mortal Kombat fiasco, GTA Hot coffee, Call of Duty multiplayer circa original Modern Warfare)
To be quite frank as a 10 year player we have just had the wool over our eyes for years and should have abandoned ship after we experienced Shadowkeep. Incoherent storylines with redaction and retconning, forced agendas with bad storylines, disastrous management and leadership at the reigns.
All of this has contributed to Destiny 2's downfall. We the people see where the ship is headed and hopped off at the ten year mark that was lackluster at best. (If you enjoyed TFS thats fine but you dont speak for me) with a promised narrative of "We like to tell big stories and we want people to put the Destiny universe on the same shelf they put Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, or Star Wars; we’ve already seen they do that with Halo"- Pete Parsons circa 2013

I don't get comments which cite the community or content creators as one of the main reasons for the downwards trend of the game when it's clearly due to upper management at Bungie.
I see so many "devs are lazy" or "devs are catering to the top 5% of the game" when those same developers give us stuff like the final shape or onslaught, content everyone likes just for them to be fired because pete parson needs another car.
As always, corporate greed will see another IP run into the ground for the sake of short term profit. We'll get the same reused, recycled content because they fired the staff who stuck with destiny for years and made it special.

NO, IT WASN'T GREAT, and it lacked content AS USUAL. This is the result from having people like you and Shadow. You reap what you sow, NOW, ENJOY!!!!

The reason we’ve had such a massive player dropoff is varied, but I’d mainly chalk it up to this being the end of Destiny’s 10 year saga with no clear future in sight, along with some of the most devastating layoffs we’ve seen despite the massive success of TFS
Old players ain’t gonna wanna stick around with nothing to look forward to, and new players ain’t gonna give destiny the time of day with how horrible its new player experience is (which has often been a pain point but never fully addressed).

Little something from myself. A community can make or break the game, and the type of community destiny 2 has is utter insanity personified. We got people arguing for the light lvl grind because they grinded the game to death out of everything else and are programmed so hard to only do that that they literally can't imagine playing destiny 2...just to play destiny 2. Why not play vault of glass? "Because I already got everything and the exotic, so there is no point to playing it." That type of mentality, in my opinion, is what helped the game slowly erode away.
Some grind is ok, but if that's all we do and after we finish our grind, we are back to where we started. We didn't get more powerful...we may got shinier new loot but no one goes for a new gun just for fashion anymore these days...they go for it for a literal 1% difference in their gameplay which had gotten intensly stale cause the community will cling to the meta even on theor deathbed and throw a fit if anyone dose anything remotely creative or at least different but not entirely optimized. (Case in point...how the community treated glaives and glaive users)
All of this can help a game die, and it's not just Bungies fault. We are in this mess because of how we treated eachother, newer players, and how we treated the game itself. Bungie higher ups don't help but we never cared in the beginning before final shape now all of a sudden the destiny 2 community cares?

Which is why for the last 4 years I have been saying that the destiny community as a whole needs to be more welcoming towards casual players New players and even solo players. I understand destiny is an MMO. I get it. Youre supposed to play with other people. but the community is treating more Solo players and casual players like crap. Let's just be honest about it. And that in turn is preventing new players from coming. I play other MMO's Star Trek online, Star Wars The Old Republic, and The Division series among others. I have asked other players that I know in those games about trying to play Destiny. Cause I've been mainly a solo player since 2017 And I've been trying to get more people into destiny. So I could have more people to play with. And the number one thing they keep saying when they read the forums when they see TH-cam videos when they watch twitch streams is that the community treats casual players like crap, and that the game seems to be designed for people who have no life outside of grinding 24/7. Let's look at something more recent like the first descendant. Yes that game also requires a lot and I mean ALOT of grinding. But on the other hand you don't hear about their community treating any of their players like crap.

as much as I still like Destiny, it was ALWAYS unsustainable to make a career out of 1 single game, like what happens if some majory event forced Destiny offline, its happened before with other games, all the littlebigplanet games were sent permanently offline because there was network issues rooted so deep in the game that fixing them would be harder then making a new game from scratch, and those issues made the games actually risky to play (people could get your IP and track you on the game) so Sony pulled the plug
I always thought, what if something like that happened to Destiny, all these creators who decided to make a career out of 1 game are now without a job overnight, compared to anyone who made Destiny a game they play on their channel but also play other games where they just lost 1 game but still have a healthy career

You seem to have a love fore lore and story and Warframe has PLENTY of that to uncover. Warframe also respects your time and money a lot more than Destiny with every DLC and your community will grow, simply based on the fact that the experience you will have is more affordable for others as well.
I can also see a lot of your video ideas on this channel work with Warframe. Warframe Content Creators are obsessed with Build Guides and tier lists that all spout the same thing all over so something helpful like "x things to do as a new player" or "x things Warframe and Destiny have in common" or others would probably invite curiosity.
I could talk about why you should try Warframe for hours as by this point I have more than 3000 hours in this game but for you, as a content crator, I think the most important thing to know is that 1. We love new players and we will never not help. 2. DE (Warframes Devs) take good care of their content creators.

I don’t watch too much Destiny content. I think most gaming videos have a way of influencing players to think about the extremes of a game rather than playing a game for what it is. I am not so easily swayed. Hell…even with the Prismatic hype, I still haven’t bought TFS. I seldom watch Destiny build crafting and gear review videos because after playing for so long, I just need to know what modifiers are active and I know what build works best and what doesn’t on what platform. The only videos I watch are Cross’s TWABS (because I don’t like to read it myself), and Frostbolts road to legend comp grinds, and a handful of “here’s what’s happening in Destiny”.
As a Destiny vet and PvP main, I take the game for what it’s worth and play when I feel like it. I’ll hop on and play a few rounds in the crucible. I play Final Fantasy 14 mainly for the raids and endgame because they’re far harder and better than Destiny. But Destiny also gave us 10 years of roller coaster memories. Cherish it for what it is and move on if you feel burnt out.

I think what you said about variety not usually panning out is pretty valid. Only variety creator I can think of off-handedly is Pongsifu and even then he's not variety; you watch him for his comedic personality while the game is secondary. I do admit I've recently gone through and did an unsubscribe en-masse with a lot of creators (you, Fallout and Coolguy are probably the three I've watched the most since Beyond Light if that's any consolation - pretty sure you had responded to a comment I had made on an old video about how helpful your pvp videos were back in the day and I still think that, it's just a shame I had become really discouraged from playing self-admitted ximmers.. another reason I've unsubscribed from basically all D2 content creators I had been following is to go in as blind as possible to this upcoming season as I'd been looking forward to it and want to see if that affects my mood and perception of the game, although I am a bit sad at the fact we get a Vex dungeon instead of a Castlevania-inspired vampire scorn castle) so I'm part of those 150 that unsubscribe every video that you mentioned... I think at a certain point the negativity becomes a cyclical feedback loop which might explain in-part why people are unsubscribing. Not saying that in an attempt to deter what you're saying; I think what you've said in the video is a realistic, but not exhaustive, evaluation of the circumstances we find ourselves in as fans of this game.
Edit: I'm willing to say that perhaps sunsetting needed to happen but not under the circumstances that it did, it that makes sense. That along with we should have never gotten to the point where meta-defining weapons are craftable (I don't think raid weapons should be fully craftable, perhaps just being able to reshape them how we reshape adepts would've been the most healthy and keeping craftables to like... 70-80% as viable as the meta-defining weapons we've had like Taipan/Cataclysmic or Apex Predator). It definitely feels like between player sentiment being wishy washy at times (wanting easier loot chases and then becoming apathetic once we get evergreen loot) and the perception of corporate leadership were two of the more defining nails in the coffin to reach this situation.

Another comment; many of us have been here since the beginning and have just about every weapon and exotic, but, forget that newbies don't, so Destiny has to walk a fine line keeping veterans happy and still allowing newbies to catch up on the loot, which is one reason our light level should stay valid in all missions, dungeons, raids...this would allow everyone to eventually getting those neat cool weapons only certain Gods of the game have, grinding for a higher light level used to be a big part of the game, you knew one day you was going to be able to walk into a massive battle zone and hold your own, that has been taken away and personally I think it has hurt the game. I know many players that have stated they just won't try certain Raids or Dungeons just because of this, they know they aren't Gods and are basic Autorifle, Scout rifle, Rocket launcher players, no special build, but like the game...which in the long run is what it's all about

TH-camrs and streamers are in a position to spread the communities feelings about video games, and for D2 right now, most people don’t like the game. It’s as simple as that, and it’s an immutable fact. If you do still enjoy playing the game, then by all means, continue doing so. The content creators aren’t telling you to stop, but the people who are twisting their words simply to bash the game are. These videos from content creators are mostly about the game’s current state and why the content creators themselves will likely be moving on, so stop twisting their words into “stop telling me to stop playing the game” since that’s not what they’re doing.
Bash me all you want, but the word twisting and hate towards content creators for simply spreading the majority of a player base’s feelings needs to stop. I thought we were all about wanting to improve D2 to the best possible point, but the first step to fixing a problem is realizing that there is one. If we keep ignoring the problems that have been in the game for years now, that have only piled on, then nothing’s going to be fixed for the better. Alright, commence the hate comments below.

I dont think anyone could have predicted concord and unfortunately bungie leadership kneecapped themselves by selling themselves based on theyre covid numbers instead of a more conservative and reasonable approach. But here we are, and bungie knows it, i know it, u know it, hell i think creators at large all know that sony is no longer in a position to pump money into failing or dying projects and thus D2 will languish. I do expect them to keep the lights on as long as possible, they r nothing if not resilient, but a comeback just isnt in the cards for D2. The big question is how long. But things like mediocre content and under delivery to keep player expectations low was definitely a major factor in the downfall of the game

I stopped playing d2 after the final shape game is done thats what we all waited for. I actually moved onto warframe and its destiny just with everything we wanted in d2. I cannot plat d2 anymore for last few years i have just been bored by the so called grind. The new subclass just immediatly made all others pointless. Destiny I think is a game that just has done what it set out to do with the story now it just needs to die with grace

The game has been streamlined so much it's basically a chore now, and every "new" content is the same as always so why would people watch videos discussiong something they already know everything about.
The most sad thing is that bungie will never be able to change stuff because something like "exotics becoming harder to obtain" would enrage the community at an insane level.

Bungie was working on 6 projects aimed at creating new communities. After we found that out it was clear, Bungie no longer wants the D2 community around that goes for the creators as well. Hope you find a way to thrive brother

Don't give up boys and girls and tge fact they have said 1 raid per year is just a safe haven because its so bad but once it picks up it will start to get better mark my words. Keep this message for 6 months and I bet you destiny is in a much better place in 6 months time #DESTINYREBORN

I appreciate your honesty buddy and another way to probe the game is dead is going into the discord servers and try and get a game as a first time raider on the new raid and no one is there and if there is there people who know what to do and its sad. I was on about 6 different servers and never got a game once and I love destiny and want to learn the new raid but the people with the know how are either playing some other game or there playing with mates which is fine am not saying they should be teaching lol its just proof the games foundation's are imploding fast and I think the last stats I saw in terms of people playing was down to 35k its sad to see it happening to gaming and it makes you wonder why is it happening, why has it been allowed to happen and its the people who worked at those studios, wokism has alot to do with it imo and I think its deliberate because call of duty has went the same way with cheaters flooding that game and streamers blatantly cheating and being invited to events by yhe devs. There has been an attack on the gaming world and its political for sure

I often wonder if many of the doomposters are actually employees from other studios trying to sway people off Destiny in hopes they find one of their games to play. I mean if you didn't like the game, why would you spend your time following their gameplay and commenting.

Today should be interesting with the revenant reveal. The lore of destiny should give us a ton of content but without enough developers to create and expand the game will maintain and fizzle out.

Perhaps you should give warframe a try the Tenno will welcome you with open arms warframe and destiny do not need to be at war with each other we can coexist I’m sorry your game isn’t the same as it used to be

Repetition is Destiny's problem, having to do a certain mission umteen times to complete certain tasks, while the new exotic mission is a good one, the 20th time through is too much

I've unfollowed a few Destiny channels cause all they been doing lately is "Doom and Gloom" videos, I still follow Cross, Datto, Bontis, Fallout etc cause yes they criticize the game when needed, but that's not their whole identity now, it gets old and tiresome, I'd rather creators just take a break than pump out hate videos every few weeks

All things come to an end, its sad, i devoted a lot of time in this game, but its been 7 years f d2 and 10 years as a whole. We should just be happy it lasted this long, How many Destiny killers came and gone in these years?
