That screen you put up for the holy based damage works great when paired with the Sacred Relic Sword, once I finished the buff rotation I switched to the Sacred Relic Sword in the off-hand and killed the Death Rite Bird in Charo's Hidden Grave on NG+7 in 2 hits, first hit did about 32.5k damage with a Wave of Gold Ash. Great guide, will be looking into more fun combinations with your supporting links.
This goes for spirit ashes too. Especially in the DLC where they're really encouraged. It's okay to do no ashes as a challenge, just like it's okay to do no shields, or level 1, or no upgrades, etc. But as far as just avoiding "easy" mode and not trying to do "hard mode" like a level 1 run, people forget there's a "normal mode". If the mimic tear with rivers of blood and the most optimised stats and buffs feels too easy, instead of playing without spirit ashes to make the game "normal mode", you can just use the worse ashes. If you genuinely want a "hard mode" then don't use any ashes, and/or limit your levels or upgrades or allowed types of equipment, etc. Also people will say spirit ashes are easy mode but then use ashes of war, and even the less powerful ashes of war are often really strong compared to just R1 spam, so why does nobody ever say using ashes of war is "easy mode"? Just because they don't use rivers of blood, ashes of war in general are fine, but even if you don't use mimic tear or Tiche, spirit ashes are considered OP just because people assume everyone will use only the best ones.
Like for Malenia I tried Latenna who can be pretty good, but it didn't help even slightly, she did a little damage, distracted Malenia briefly for me to hit her, then got the crap beaten out of her bringing Malenia all the way back to full HP, so she just wasted time. Not nearly as strong as the people equipping crazy gear and rotten meatballs and summoning mimic tear, who do objectively have an easier time in the fight.
I carry around an unleveled Stormhawk Deenh for the same reason, low FP req and gives a really good buff when it screams ( I think its +20% physical, stamina, and poise dmg that stacks with other buffs). Has little impact on the fight outside of the buff he gets off once usually and maybe 1 "free" heal
@@Heowolf that sounds about right for the buff. I think it DOES overlap some buffs like it's an aura buff or something maybe? Not one of the unique buffs that stacks with everything. 4:18 plz help i don't understand how you triple stack those undead buffs with Last Rites too. Can someone please explain to me how to apply the 8x undead damage buff mentioned?
Ok so Last Rites is an aura buff, so as long as you're not casting another aura buff (golden vow, rally, shared order, etc) then it's going to stack already. The trick comes from Sacred Order. Normally it's a weapon buff, but it's bugged, and applies to all your damage, not just the weapon itself. So if you put in on your left hand weapon, two-hand it and cast the buff, then un-two-hand it and cast a weapon buff with your right-hand weapon, like either Sacred Blade or another Sacred Order. This means your right hand weapon is receiving all 3 buffs: Last Rites (intended aura buff), Sacred Order (unintended weapon buff) and Sacred Blade/Order (intended weapon buff), each of which doubling undead damage, so 8x total. If you plan on powerstancing your weapons, it's better to use Sacred order (since BOTH weapons get all three buffs in this case), but if you plan on one-shotting, it's better to use Sacred Blade because the skill itself is pretty strong and deals pure holy already
Are these buffs ok Dumpling mask Flask (bloodsucking tear/ thorny cracked tear) Howl of shabriri Golden vow Commanders standard Or Lord of blood exultation instead of millicents prothesis _________ Flask (bloodsucking tear/ thorny cracked tear) Howl of shabriri Golden vow Commanders standard Sepuku

@@listenalotbtwyes, as I've talked about at 3:50 the buffs stick around after removing the item, so you can do hardswapping strats like this. I don't like hardswaps personally but they definitely work.
@@stevenprice5681 I'm sure they're around somewhere, but what a lot of people don't talk about is the fact that a good level 300+ build is just a slightly stronger or more versatile level 150 build. You're still gonna be using almost all the same stuff aside from maybe a stronger buff you have the FTH for, or a different weapon/affinity that gives you better scaling for your stats. Neither of these are gonna massively change the effectiveness of your build, so just use your best judgement for those extra levels and you'll be fine
Well now with the new DLC stuff you can have poison hand in off-hand, mushroom crown and kindred of rot exultation. Use the skill of deadly poison perform to poison yourself, all 3 activate and buff you for about 41% damage/20sec. The rest your build would depend on the attack you're actually using
- starts duel - opponent buff stacks for 5 mins like a dweeb - opponent gets hit with leda sword AOW after last buff - opponent gets one shotted, cries
Wait, the damage boost from uplifting aromatic is an aura buff? I thought it was a body buff since it didn't stack with bloodboil aromatic. I will have to test this!
Bro the wight mask give you 10% bleed and the talisman of bleed give you 20% in elden ring wiki .. so if i wear the mask and the talisman is it give me 30% ? Or just one of them work ?
@@Nioh193 even better. Not only can you stack both of them, but they stack Multiplicatively (as everything does in the game) so you can have on both and get 32% more damage. With poison you can stack mushroom crown + kindred of rot + poisoned hand the same way, and with madness you can stack Black Dumpling + Aged One's Exultation + Madding Hand as well
Let's say hypothetically you're missing a couple items like Shard of Alexander, Magic Scorpion, Dark Moon Greatsword, and all of spellblade armour set, what would be some valid replacements for those?
@@1SlyGuy yeah the bubble effect from Uplifting Aromatic (the part that negates 90% for one hit) is considered a unique buff, but the 10% physical attack is considered an aura buff. That one's a bit confusing
I've seen poeple buffing themselves with weapon like the commander flagpole and keeping the buff after switching. How do you do that ? Arn't you supposed to lose your buff when putting your weapon away ?
@@moreauclement9702 Well, the weapon buff type isn't necessarily buffs casted by weapons, but buffs that APPLY to that weapon, and these have noticeable visible effects to make that clear (except all the roar-like ones). A handful of weapon skills are actually coded as Aura buffs or Unique buffs, meaning there's no need to keep the weapon out after using them. Only exception to these rules is Jellyfish shield, which is technically coded like a unique buff but has all the same behaviors as a weapon buff (visual indication and needs to stay out) Every single buffing skill (prior to DLC) is listed in the buff chart linked in the description with its corresponding category, and in the case of the flagpole, what they're using is Rallying standard, an Aura buff giving 20% attack and negation for 30s. It's usually a choice between using this and Golden Vow, as that's also an aura buff, except a little weaker and lasts a lot longer.
Yes, actually! Though you're better off just having a Staff of the Guilty in your off-hand since that gives a 20% boost and Jellyfish shield was nerfed to 12.5%. They can be farmed so you're not even limited to one per playthrough
Can you recreate the tank rust Rosen ring all hit run vs radahan video with your buff routine and commentary on the build properly and the great tune you would recommend
So as a ranged caster (who cant get the scorpion talisman right now as selvenus is dead). I should at least use jelly fish shield, the correct armor pieces to increase magic skill damage, boiled crab meat, and what else? Golden vow
Ok so this mostly depends on your main spell of choice. I usually go for Night Comet on INT builds cuz they're pretty strong. If you're on NG+ or have a friend willing to trade one with you, it's best to have 2 staves of loss because you can have one in each hand and double stack the buffs from them. Otherwise you can use staff of Loss in left hand and the best spell scaling staff you have on the right (usually this is Lusat staff). There's no harm in using jellyfish Shield and casting with Staff of Loss, especially if you care about FP consumption, but either combining Lusat+Loss or Loss+Loss will result in more damage than jellyfish would give you, even before the recent nerf As for armor, you should only be using spell-blade set if you're using magic SKILLS specifically, as it doesn't work on spells. If you're going full caster no weapon, you don't have to use that armor. For talismans you probably want both school-graven and mass-graven talisman, which are stackable for some reason, as well as Godfrey Icon (you can charge each shot) and where magic scorpion would typically go, you can put something defensive like Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman. If you wanna go even more defensive you can swap school-graven with basically anything else that helps you tank better since it's only a 4% boost. From here, your other buffs are boiled crab (good choice) and golden vow (skill on a dagger), then physicks should be Magic-shrouding tear and any other tear of choice (I recommend opaline hardtear) and, if the boss allows it, you should try pulling off a terra magica and/or a couple Ranni's Dark Moons. If you only have time for one, pick the dark moon. Not only is it a relatively strong spell, but it's also already a -10% magic negation debuff, and if frost procs, it's -20% on everything, stacking with the initial debuff for 32% more damage. Main stats should be Vigor and INT of course, only getting what you need for the rest. Armor should be as strong as you can realistically manage without heavy rolling. If you wanna go full glass cannon, not only would you need the scorpion charm, but there's also ways of fitting in the low HP buffs and bleed buffs with seppuku, then you'd need 80+ INT and 33FTH to use Howl of Shabriri snd the golden vow spell which is stronger than the skill. That said I don't think a build like that is gonna work in the DLC for most people lol
@@jmg24bad It it makes you feel better, in the DLC I've stopped using the scorpion talisman because I needed more defense (swapped it for Dragoncrest Greatshield). I only put it on if while exploring I need slightly more damage for either DMGS waves or Loretta's Greatbow to kill in one attack instead of leaving the enemy with a sliver, but for boss fights I always take it off now. (ng+ with 80 int for context)
Isn’t the twinblade build a lot worse since the powerstance status nerfs? I don’t know a ton about this game but I’d like to hear your thoughts on double weapon status buildup since it’s only gotten more confusing for me
Yes that's why I recommended dual seppuku instead of the bleed/frost combo. The damage is still fantastic, you're just not as likely anymore to land both bleed and frost before the boss dies so you might as well use double bleed
Wait, Shard of Alexander actually works with Dark Moon Blade? I never use it on that build because my initial testing showed it doing exact similar numbers. Have I been nerfing myself or does it still not work with Dark Moon Blade?
quick question. i see in a lot of run videos that sometimes people apply their buffs before entering the boss arena and apply the rest after they are in the arena. what is the reason for that? sorry if i missed it in the video
Usually the reason for someone to do this is that the buffs that they're applying in the arena have such short durations that they have to do it this way so it doesn't run out before the fight is over
@@AlphaSeagull Ahh ok i had a feeling that was the case. I was thinking that certain buffs gets erased by the fog wall before entering so people wait till they are inside. This game gets so confusing so quick i swear smh
Vykes dragonbolt flame grant me strength and howl of shabriri stack in this order i typed it in my guy the only buff you wont get is the body buff from vykes one but you'll still have the weapon buff
Close. Flame Grant Me Strength and Howl of Shabriri are both body buffs, so the only 2 buffs you're actually getting from that setup is the Weapon buff from Vyke and the Howl. Just casting Electric Armament and Howl will create the same effect, since the Vyke weapon buff is identical to Electric Armament other than being a different color
It's on the later half of this video th-cam.com/video/Lb0fRDaXGtc/w-d-xo.html just swap the bloodboil for FGMS, and swap the frost twinblade for another seppuku one, and you're golden

Watching this reminds me of how if I didn't see a video of someone grabbing the physick I would have no clue what buffing is
New to this game and knew about certain things working at a time. This is helpful. 🎉
7:48 did you get affected by your own frost buildup?
Thank you for the screenshot of your RL1 build! Would love to see a video of it! And maybe what's possible without a rune arc!
Here’s me already knowing how to dodge and still using Rob cuz it’s the coolest weapon in game
Couldn't agree more my friend
I carry around an unleveled Stormhawk Deenh for the same reason, low FP req and gives a really good buff when it screams ( I think its +20% physical, stamina, and poise dmg that stacks with other buffs). Has little impact on the fight outside of the buff he gets off once usually and maybe 1 "free" heal
@@Heowolf that sounds about right for the buff. I think it DOES overlap some buffs like it's an aura buff or something maybe? Not one of the unique buffs that stacks with everything. But yeah, that one, Therolina, I think it's the other perfumer that gives you an opaline bubble thing occasionally? Maybe something like Aurelia or rot dogs to aid with status build in the start or distract the enemy/boss. Lots of good options to just get creative or have fun.
@@concerninghobbits5536 Oh yeah mb, it's def an aura buff. It overwriting uplifting just looked like multiplicative scaling since it's a better buff in general lol.
Absolute champion, thank you for this!
the sniff at 7:45 made sub to the channel cuz I was like is that me because ain't no way he edited his vid and left that in but it seems you're just like me fr fr
You have the include that the jellyfish shield has to be equipped on your off hand , cause if its stowed away on your back the buff wont work anymore
This video started off so well and then felt like zero effort in the second half
A really informative video and a pleasure to watch! I don’t sub or like everything, but you deserve it I’ll be watching more of your content 😻
W ,i don't know about buffs like i got 0 knowledge about them but this vid... W man!
Thanks for the info! Hope you get more subs, you definitely deserve them 😊
This is so good but my adhd is so strong that I just unga bunga bosses.
A programmer here with too much time on their hands and love for elden ring.. if you need help with such things like the table ( even if making it look/behave nicer ) I'd be happy to help, thanks for the vid 🤟🏻
This is super helpful for me. Thank you!!!
I use the same buff routine for every boss: Physick, Golden Vow, FGMS, Howl of Shabriri (with Dumpling helmet), and lastly Ironjar Aromatic.
@@jdbly5934 Yeah that's gonna perform alright, but it's worth noting Howl of Shabriri doesn't proc the dumpling helmet unless you completely build up madness with it. Your setup would perform the same if it was just Physick > Vow > Ironjar (both fgms and howl are body buffs, so they get overriden by Ironjar)
Most games I play I love the paladin type characters. A big bonk plus a few buffs. Haven’t tried the super one shot builds, but using a weapon and body buff feels right in a fromsoft game.
You literally deserve a billion subs
Hero’s don’t always wear capes
Good work man, this info is soo helpful to know
Earned a sub from me. Love the buffing in ER
Glad i found this video. Thanks ya

Can one stack two different body buffs? Say for example, the pickled turtle neck and the boiled crab? Or is it just one body buff at a time?
Only 1 body buff, 1 aura buff, 1 weapon buff per weapon, and unlimited everything else
@ thank you for that, I really appreciate it 👍
Only thing I’d suggest for magic skills or sorcerers: use Terra Magica. Even in this fight, that would have made a noticeable difference
I really enjoy watching videos about how to build in Elden Ring.
But when I play the game, I just having fun without doing the buff. 😂
Spend all this yime buffing the Consort Radahn smacks me up 😂
Great Vid, also I'm pretty sure you're the same guy who made that Sword and Shield Build Docs TY for that.
I'm honestly really surprised how popular that doc got lmao. I'm actually planning on making a quick-start guide video that goes over a very similar build, so that's gonna be fun when I get around to it
Where's the docs?
@@actuallyfungi1384I forget how well it's aged cuz it's been a while since I read the document but here it is

Basically the context was that somebody in early 2023 was asking for a recommendation for a sword and shield type build, and my reply was so long it turned into a Google doc. People really liked it.
@@AlphaSeagull this is sick thank you for posting the link
On dark moon greatsword you can use axe talisman to boost the ash of war as it comes from a charged atack
@@FranciscoCamacho-lb9bx Nope! I've tried this and it doesn't work. Neither does Spiked Cracked Tear. However, both of those DO work on all the roar-type weapon buffs that affect your charge attack. Those aren't affected by shard or godfrey icon, but they are also affected by Roar Medallion and Highland Axe. Haven't tested if two-handed talisman works on either Dark Moon nor Roar buffs yet (I've noticed it doesn't typically work on skills) but I should test that eventually
@@AlphaSeagull It doesn't affect the projectile, but it does affect the melee hit part of the R2, which also has a hitbox. So you can pretty much treat it as a normal charged attack during fights and do massive damage if you hit with both.
Godfrey icon only works on certain charged skills and spells \incantations it's so difficult finding the inns and outs with how much misinformation there is on the topic of elden ring even the fextrawiki is wrong a lot
@@Ecliptor. That's a great point, but I think if you were going close-range melee with this build in the first place, better melee options exist
Are these buffs ok
Dumpling mask
Flask (bloodsucking tear/ thorny cracked tear)
Howl of shabriri
Golden vow
Commanders standard
Or
Lord of blood exultation instead of millicents prothesis
_________
Flask (bloodsucking tear/ thorny cracked tear)
Howl of shabriri
Golden vow
Commanders standard
Sepuku
@@listenalotbtw Golden Vow can't stack with Commander standard as they're both Aura buffs, but otherwise it looks fine
@@AlphaSeagull or can I do Dumplng mask with *aged ones exultation talisman which increases dmg when proc madness
Flask (blood sucking/thorny cracked tears)
Proc madness (Howl Of Shabriri)
Golden Vow
Switch to white mask
Switch to lord of bloods exultation
Sepuku

@@listenalotbtwyes, as I've talked about at 3:50 the buffs stick around after removing the item, so you can do hardswapping strats like this. I don't like hardswaps personally but they definitely work.
Hey that's what I'm doing rn, looking for that fun in the grey
Can u do a flame/blood version?
Are there videos on builds with higher levels like 350 and up?
@@stevenprice5681 I'm sure they're around somewhere, but what a lot of people don't talk about is the fact that a good level 300+ build is just a slightly stronger or more versatile level 150 build. You're still gonna be using almost all the same stuff aside from maybe a stronger buff you have the FTH for, or a different weapon/affinity that gives you better scaling for your stats. Neither of these are gonna massively change the effectiveness of your build, so just use your best judgement for those extra levels and you'll be fine
@@AlphaSeagull I’m looking for the sacred black great hammer setup that is similar to blasphemous blade
this whole time i’ve been using flame grant strength golden vow and howl of shabriri 💀
same 😂
Does Boiled Crab Stack with ash If war endure ?
Yes, endure is a unique buff so it stacks with everything, including itself if you cast it again on the other hand somehow
what about rune arcs. are they part of the special or are they an aura buff or a body buff
They're part of the special category, almost like a passive effect from your gear.
is there any notable buffing to be done for faith builds except for the regular flask+vow+shabriri ?
Well now with the new DLC stuff you can have poison hand in off-hand, mushroom crown and kindred of rot exultation. Use the skill of deadly poison perform to poison yourself, all 3 activate and buff you for about 41% damage/20sec. The rest your build would depend on the attack you're actually using
@@AlphaSeagullwould it be just as good if you use an item to induce poison?
I'm such a hug fan
Same I love hugs 😅
bro missing the dodges due to the amount of algebra he's currently doing mid fight

Wait, the damage boost from uplifting aromatic is an aura buff? I thought it was a body buff since it didn't stack with bloodboil aromatic. I will have to test this!
I’ll work on your front end with you seems fun
its so funny seeing incantations that were horrible for my character one shot bosses for others
A different build lmao
Does golden vow not stack with uplifting aromatic? I saw uplifting on the unlimited chart but also on the body aura chart
@@1SlyGuy yeah the bubble effect from Uplifting Aromatic (the part that negates 90% for one hit) is considered a unique buff, but the 10% physical attack is considered an aura buff. That one's a bit confusing
Hi the picture link doesn't seem to be working
Wait... Does jellyfish shield work on impenetrable thorns?!?!
Yes, actually! Though you're better off just having a Staff of the Guilty in your off-hand since that gives a 20% boost and Jellyfish shield was nerfed to 12.5%. They can be farmed so you're not even limited to one per playthrough
@@AlphaSeagull I was just debating the two in my head 😅😂🤣 Thanks man, you put out awesome info!
Can you recreate the tank rust Rosen ring all hit run vs radahan video with your buff routine and commentary on the build properly and the great tune you would recommend
I am not going to recreate another TH-camr's content as a video lol, sorry. Thanks for the suggestion though
Damn that’s a big buff
There's no harm in using jellyfish Shield and casting with Staff of Loss, especially if you care about FP consumption, but either combining Lusat+Loss or Loss+Loss will result in more damage than jellyfish would give you, even before the recent nerf
As for armor, you should only be using spell-blade set if you're using magic SKILLS specifically, as it doesn't work on spells.
@AlphaSeagull this is really thought out and I'll read through this and come back to let you know how I fare!
@AlphaSeagull your advice did work for me and as I get stronger it's easier to do massive damage to bosses
So if I eat a turtle neck I can’t eat a dappled meat?
Turtle neck stacks with dappled meat just fine, but dappled meat doesn't stack with other body buffs like FGMS, exalted flesh or boiled prawns/crabs
@@AlphaSeagull thanks! :)

Buff order for mage is at min 12:22
quick question. i see in a lot of run videos that sometimes people apply their buffs before entering the boss arena and apply the rest after they are in the arena. what is the reason for that? sorry if i missed it in the video
