Intro:
Let’s talk about family for a moment...
Whether that family is biological, adopted, or just a group of people you share a unique connection with, they play a real role in shaping you as a person, and can help you through some of your hardest times. The role they play should never underrated.
But what if that family is Greg Paul?
Well, that is the scenario that Jake and Logan find themselves in. It makes sense, he’s their biological father. But he’s not your normal dad of a TH-camr, the one who stands, hopefully supportively on the sidelines, he clearly enjoys basking in the spotlight. And on principle, there is nothing wrong with that, I am of the belief that age should not constrain one’s capacity, and even if their doorway is via nepotism, they may still have the character, independent from the familial factor, to redeem that.
The 54 year old, is a character without a doubt, but he does clearly want to involve himself in his sons’ lives, and we’ll touch on this later. Jake and Logan Paul have established clout in their own rights but still appear to appreciate the presence of their father. In one event, which I won’t be discussing today, Greg here, featured in one of Jake’s videos and made out with a sixteen year old fan. And although it’s weird and marginally unsettling, it’s been ran into the ground by everyone under the sun, I think everyone’s made their mind up on it.
However, it’s important that we provide some background for what has inspired this video.
It was early May, the Earth was rotating on its axis like any normal day, but it wasn’t any normal day for Team 10. In fact it was quite an eventful period of time for Jake Paul and his comrades, because on May the 5th, the COO of Team 10, Nick Crompton, yo u know, that person who claimed England to be his city, stepped down.
Nick Crompton had been noted for his staunch devotion to the Pauls, and even in his divorce statement, kept it relatively civil, and urged people to not blindly hate on Jake. However, an indirect recipient of the underlying message within the letter seemed to be Mr. Greg Paul himself. It was also not long before Chance Sutton, another highly distinguished member of troupe, decided that it was time for him to part ways.And eventually, after a fair bit of digging various hypotheses were stated.
The main one being that the Greg Paul in question, had assumed control of many of Jake’s assets within the Team 10 business, and had since been making some ruthless cuts, to put it gently, he had taken up the role of Team 10’s own personal human resources department. There were some more elaborate stories, that included various details of a possible merger, and more individual developments that we’ll discuss later, but that is the core story that is mostly confirmed from both sides.
I followed this vaguely, and often it’s something I would not rather touch on, but I do believe there is a greater commentary that can be made about Greg Paul, his demeanour, and various relationships that this story encompasses.
Both Jake, and Logan Paul have had their fair share of controversies, Logan with the obvious, and Jake with the consistency. And once again, I stress, that Jake and Logan can act how they want, and the public will judge them as they do, but if they want to be slightly more positive role models than the ones they are currently, a mediating actor could be genuinely beneficial, however, what I’ve found today tends to lend support to the fact that this could actually be detrimental.
And I’ll precursor this with my video, people can obviously do what they want, no one’s obliged to be great human beings, however, if you wanna lecture people on what’s right and wrong, you better practice what you preach, something that I find fundamentally lacking, for all parties involved today.

I don't really know what friendships you have but often kids that come out like this don't really have a relationship dynamic built on trust, companionship, self esteem building and the love of similar interests that friendships have. Please, you can be a friend to your child they won't turn out like him. Friends and parents aren't bi-polar opposites, they are types of very flexible and intertwining relationships. The things that Logan and Jake were taught were definitely a lack of parenting but not a typical trait you see in good friends, which is manipulation, ego- boosting, exploitation, being trophy children, mass marketed to the world, groomed to become mindless celebrities, hoarding off their fame, a lack of teaching in empathy and mental health etc, ignoring any positions on authority or responsibility, not growing up or showing maturity. It's nothing to do with the myth that "being a child's friend as a parent is destructive". It's more so showing that the parent pretends they're still the same age as their kid, which actually fucks up the parent- child power balance. He sees himself as a child, he sees Jake and Logan probably as what he still wants to be, or simply Money machines, rather than actual friends or human beings, and that's what he taught them from the day they were born.
i agree. my mother and i have always had a friendship, but she has also taught me respect and basic human decency. i don't think it has anything to do with wanting to be friends with your kid.
+ugly cutie I agree with you too, though I see it more as a peer- peer relationship isn't mutually similar to a parent- child relationship, I think the idea of a "friendship" could be considered more fluctuating depending on the factors of each specific relationship you can use, varying on degrees of power, professionalism, formalism, discipline etc. I consider my friends my friends (obviously) just as a consider my dog my friend, but I don't apply the same idea of "friendship" to them both, because of course, they require different levels of the other factors to work in balance. Sadly I have seen what happens when a parent doesn't want any sort of a friendship or constructive teaching and goes purely for "disciplining" their child, specifically my friend. it can get to the point where is the disciplining still healthy, or is the child becoming a punching dummy for deep problems you repress in life? Overall Greg doesn't provide the level of parenting he should've, but I don't think it's purely being a friend, more a puppet for manipulation. If anything, it's trying to groom a trophy child, trying to live in their fame, and, if you see Nerd City's latest video on the Paul Family, there can be a degree on closet incest going on too. Often I would say it's more likely to blame the personality and motives of the people/ person in the relationship rather than the type of relationship they choose.
Why do I get this weird vibe that when the Paul brothers finally settle down with wives and children, Greg will personally decide which girls they get to marry and have this creepy sexual relationship with his daughter-in-laws as yet another way to live vicariously through his sons.
He gives me the impression of that one preacher (?) who claimed to have slept with his daughter-in-law because, if I remember correctly, he said "God acted through him". Greg seems to want to be at the front of this great loving community and takes no responsibility for his actions. His family is untouchable, because anyone who criticises them must simply be a hater.
I honestly have no idea because the daughter-in-law didn't give her side of the story in the video. Though I wouldn't be surprised if I found out he got her involved by saying disgusting things like "It's God's will", which screams abuse of authority.

Jake and Logan developed their egos from this Man. He has an obvious, desperate need to be Right, Popular, and 'One of the Team". He's literally living vicariously through his children, and It's just gross. He's the guy who has no qualms abusing and bullying others, but the second anyone disagrees or hurts his feelings he's completely justified in calling them bullies and playing the victim. Touching on this video, it's always struck me as disingenuous to tell people in a braggadocious manner how much one has helped potential suicide victims. I see Greg as a man who is terrified of letting go and slipping into obscurity so his ego will do whatever it can to get a pat on the back from others. This is just speculation though because i don't know the guy, but I thought I'd go ahead and let my gut reaction be known.

Yeah it's an interesting perspective. For context, that comment he made was in the middle of his Alissa Violet situation, which made it even more contrived, I think in that situation, he was trying to add credibility to (as you said) maintain venerability and thus relevancy to the situation.

Anyone remember the Jim Sterling video "Good Boys of TH-cam". Greg reminds me of the persona that Jim was parodying as he jokingly saying that some people's huge, supportive audiences nullify their wrongdoings.

Mhm, but filming a suicide victim in a forest, editing the video, and posting it online for everyone to see, without having the slightest hint of self awareness that would even think for even one single moment, 'Ya know, putting up a dead guy on TH-cam, desecrating his final moments for my primarily underage audience may be a bad idea', is a hell of a mistake to make, you know? Just... just sayin'. This isn't using a bad word in the midst of a livestream, or just being a bit too rude to someone. I think the 'haters' are justified this time around.
While I don't support Logan Paul, you have to realize that his intention was to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental illness. Him laughing upon seeing the body was a defense mechanism and a lot of people laugh in serious situations. He fucked up, he accepted that he fucked up, and he's trying to do better now.

Whether or not he had good intentions doesn't nullify the fact that he attempted to monetize someone's corpse. And, he hasn't really made an effort to change from my point of view, he just hasn't fucked up as badly. He still is a TERRIBLE example to his mainly underaged audience, and he still has manipulative advertising that would be illegal if broadcast on television.

They're not (as far as I know), but they share the habit of being so embarrassing in public that even the kids, who are supposed to be acting stupid because they're kids, look embarrassed. It smacks of the creepier side of "how d'ya do fellow kids", when middle-aged people try and pretend they're in their twenties again, to the point of crossing boundaries that middle-aged, responsible adults shouldn't be crossing.

I've said months ago that both Vlogdad and Vlogmom (as if they need no other identifiers, like Cher), both want their golden geese to continue to make money, no matter how it's done. I have to wonder how long ago it's been since Greg Paul had his own job. All this "love" bullshit he spreads around never seems genuine. It always seemed to me to be something to help keep the gravy train moving. It's about money, like it most always is. Greg Paul is a cringey addition to TH-cam and he DOES think he's a Team 10 member, don't ever doubt it. He's pealing away the dead weight on Team 10 and becoming the CFO of an organization that won't last for much longer.
At the end, watch for the entire Paul family going to Dr. Phil's show for some much needed redemption.

No wonder the Paul brothers turned out the way they did, they have someone like this as their father.
Great video as always TRO, I like this look and it reminds me of a scene with Hugh Laurie on the graham norton show talking about how every man in some way tries to emulate their father until they truly become their own person and this is almost the opposite of that where Greg is emulating his son's behaviour. He's like a bad corner in boxing, instead of giving his fighter tips on how to win their fight between rounds, he's just telling them to fight harder and eventually they'll win when that's obviously not the correct path to victory.

i think this video is more addressing a behavioral phenomenon with a specific example. i think what Greg Paul does can be summed up as: intrinsic justification for immoral expedience. which is in of it self not completely irrational, especially to the who is stuck in it. but it is totally devoid of any deeper meaning. in my estimation this phenomenon is most prevalent in people who are both low in openness, and low in conscientiousness, because this is obviously a personality issue. a lot of people are raised to be like this and they don't know any better, because they won't be corrected properly.
i think it is important that these things get addressed specifically for younger audiences to prevent them from becoming this toxic, and teach them basic morals at the right age.
