The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I'm sure someone has noticed the mistake in the early part of the song. Should be "Everybody's talkin' at me
    I don't hear a word they're sayin'
Only the echoes of my mind
    People stoppin', starin'
    I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes."
Bobby sings " "Everybody's talkin' at me
    I don't hear a word they're sayin'
Only the echoes of my mind
    People stoppin', starin'
    I don't hear a word they're sayin'
Only the shadows of their eyes."
The line after "People stoppin', starin'" is incorrect. It was replaced by "I don't hear a word they're sayin'," which doesn't make sense if you are talking about visual things and seeing. He should have said, "I can't see their faces"

Bobby's only appearance on the Sullivan show. He sang this song and "Can You Feel It" which was his latest single. It's a shame that he didn't sing any of his big hits, but he does a good job with "Everybody's Talkin". I've always liked Bobby's records, especially his ballads and story songs.

A song Bobby recorded for his 1969 "Muddy Mississippi Line" album, although the Nilsson version is the one that took off at radio. At the end of 1970 Bobby would release one of his biggest and most endearing songs, "Watching Scotty Grow", written by the late great Mac Davis. Check out 1:14 where Bobby sneaks in his legendary cricket sound

At this time Bobby was leading off his concerts with this song so even though he had quite a few hits by then, it was not that unusual he chose Everybody's Talkin. I always wondered what Bobby looked like without those helmet toupees he wore in the 70's.

If this was finally Bobby Goldsboro's shot on TESS, I don't understand why this selection. Talented performer, competently covering the by-then twice-released Harry Nilsson version, which had hit Billboard's #6 position the previous fall. Almost like a cancellation fill-in or someone calling in a favor. And how about a shout-out acknowledgement of Fred Neil, who wrote "Everybody's Talkin'"?

I was looking to hate this because its Bobby Goldsboro and I was looking to be offended by him ruining one of my favorite songs. I don't hate Goldsboro, but his hit songs were always so corny or down right depressing. But I have to say this wasn't half-bad. My favorite version is Nilsson's and 2nd favorite is the composer, Fred Neil's version.

I think he would have been better served by changing up the arrangement a bit, this is so similar to Nilsson's version that it's more of a copy than a cover.
