Thank you brother... I understand this flow of music better and I'm not even an intermediate player. Be blessed for the work you doing for the music community not just jazz..
My man you made me understand in minutes So I’m going to learn from you bro. I love the whole tone scale class and now I’m going to apply it in real time. Thanks for sharing wisdom.
I love your teaching and thank you for helping us unlock this language. You are amazing at what you do and your interpretation of "Over the rainbow" in the video is soo beautiful and rich. Thank you so much from Kenya 🙏
This is an excellent overview, Shan!... I also like what your nephew is doing Jay Verma!?...(I hope that's right) anyway thank you for this video, keep up the great work kind regards WF Robinson
Fun ideas to explore: Build a minor6 chord on each diminished notes. In C : Dm6 = Bm7b5= 6onthe5 (heptatonic 7th degree) Fm6 = minor iV (like in the video) Abm6 = makes a kind of tritone sub Bm6= ugly duckling These 4 m6 chords have different roles in C’s family members. For example Dm6 is the miV of A
Thank you for this! On a C major chord, is it ultimately a matter of preference on which 'sixth' chord to use? Between Cmaj6 and Gmaj6. And you can freely switch between the two systems?
@@JazzSkills Many thanks for the reply! One quick clarification, if you use G6dim on a C major seventh, would you also use its move notes (F# A C Eb) to harmonize the melodies that are on the CM7? Or would you still use C6's move notes (B D F Ab). For example, if the melody goes B-A on CM7, would you use G6 to F# diminished? Or B diminished to C6?
Awesome! Im learning about his method and its great. Do you go over things like the diminished chords and their 4 related dominants, raising or lowering diminished notes, etc on your site?
Great that you're learning these methods. They really do free you up to sound authentic. Yes, I certainly cover all of that and much more on Jazz Skills!
@@JazzSkills Yay!! Im really loving learning about these concepts. Need a way to implement them properly though and some guidance will of course help. You will have a new student shortly :)
@@peteypablo2081 We have several full lessons in the tunes taught in detail section, teaching practical application of these methods. I'll be waiting for you :)

Haha. I'm unlikely to write a book my friend. I don't feel I can say it in a book but you'll see more videos coming soon :)
3:44 Stairway to Heaven. Jimmy page knew the major 6dim scale!

I normally use the C6dim but sometimes, the G6dim works really well, especially when the 7th of C is in the melody. Hope this helps! Shan

Do you have video on comping while soloing?
I don't think so but I'll keep that one in mind thanks.
