    I think this is my favorite music channel now and I'm a guitar player. I just realized that because I'm back again and always learn something interesting. Sometimes it take a little sink in the half of a brain cell I have left but it does somehow.

    The black note/white note grouping is really useful. I think the easiest way to think of the fingering is to use 131 on the groups of white notes ( i.e. CDE or FGA). If you do this the hand is at the correct angle for the entire span of the keyboard as long as you move your body for the higher notes.

  • @MelodicEgghead
    @MelodicEgghead 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome!!! When I was younger I would look up all the chords to figure out what these jazz guys are doing and couldn't ever get a proper answer... Now I see what you did... augmented chords, but it's about voicings, inversions, and what you add to the left hand to make it more than a simple augmented chord diversifies it a lot!!! Great video! Liked and subscribed!!!

    Thanks for this video, this is stuff I spent a long time thinking about on my own, watching clips of Barry and studying his playing. It is so validating to see you talking about it. Whole tone over dominants is one of my favorite ways to voice and move voices on dominants. Those symmetrical structures are easy to dive deep into - you can also do the same thing with diminished scales and their voice movements over dominants. Exploiting tonal symmetry for extreme reharmonization is the heart of bebop and Barry’s sound imo
