I love it when someone is very good at explaining things well. This person is genuine, authentic and is empathetic to the listener so he knows how to get the point across well.

Excellent video. Great introduction for beginners. Great reminder for those paddlers who might have become complacent.

Regarding trick #3, salsa dancing and kayaking have that one on common.

Excellent work here. Logical. (interesting boat choice - so non-flashy, it's interesting.)

It is basic stuff, but very underestimated. Good video.

That's wery well explained and it's easy to understand both what's being said and performed. There's no excessive talk, but the essence of it. It would be great if you'd make a video where the legg press, hip rotation and propper paddle stroke is explained. Also how to save one self from tipping if the tipping is about to occur.

Goes over basics of using dock for balance...then suggests using advanced sculling stroke to move closer.

skulling is not an advanced stroke, it is one of the most basic strokes for boat maneuvering. It s one of the first skills a new paddler is taught because it is so useful and so important

@@robertpreato3891 Generally speaking, most new paddlers will spend quite a bit of time getting a feel for a forward stroke long before sculling. They'll also learn to enter and exit a kayak before learning how to scull. After all, how do you learn how to scull if you can't enter your boat?

    • @robertpreato3891

@@wisenber Of course you need to first learn how to get in the boat, let's not be silly. That comes before you learn ANY stroke, including the forward stroke. But where I come from, skulling is a BASIC skill and is learned on the first day. It is neither an advanced stroke nor difficult to learn and is extremely useful if not vital. Its the safest way for a new paddler to approach a dock and is taught precisely to discourage the impusle to REACH out when approaching the dock. Do a search of videos of basic paddling strokes and you will always find skulling as one of the basic strokes.

@@robertpreato3891 I've always taught paddlers to enter and exit their kayak before sculling. If they knew how to scull, they should already know how to get in and out of a kayak.
That being said, the forward stroke isn't given enough attention by most, whitewater paddlers in particular.

@@wisenber I agree, you can't skull or do anything if you can't get into the boat. But the fact remains that skulling is a basic and essential paddling skill and should be one of the first paddling strokes a new kayaker learns. This is not an advanced skill in any way. It is simple to learn, and an essential technique for maneuvering your boat, especially near docks. Where I come from, its taught on the first day. If that is advanced, then I guess we are all advanced paddlers on day one.
