Hey Mark, excellent interview this guy will be very successful in his retirement, he's got the right attitude has done many things, and is willing to learn new things, and his willingness to blend in which to me is key in living in such a place within a different culture, etc.
Agree. He is the kind of American retiree my country loves. One who can contribute a lot to our economy , pleasant and forgiving for our poverty & inadequacies.
Hi Mark. Good video! Let Steve know that John with Tourqouise Sunsets lived up in Valencia. About 3 years ago he had fresh milk from a local dairy delivered to him several times a week. There is fresh milk avaliable there.
In many countries locals hate it when “dollar Americans” pay more for services. That slowly brings up prices for everyone. It is okay to give a tip, but anything more is going to ultimately be detrimental to native economy.
It is also a bit disgusting to do, even if the intention is good. It shows as “look I am rich American, you are poor peasant”. If you want to show your largesse, do it in USA. Don’t rub the nose of the locals from developing countries in it. It is really bad manners.
The box milk that is on the shelf is real milk it is pasteurized twice as long so it can be left on a shelf without refrigeration there is no different zen regular milk it is just pasteurized longer
Really enjoy your interviews with this fella. Easy to talk to and unassuming. Could easily sit down and chat for hours with him as I’m sure has some interesting tales and stories from all of his time working as master of his craft in other cultures or locations l.
Fun fact it used to be s&r price smart…costco merged with pricesmart and then s&r dropped the pricesmart in its name…so in a roundabout way they are all connected
You can find Norient Milk at the Provincial veterinary office at Dumaguete City. Its real fresh cows milk that they have. They do have them distributed in popular groceries in Dumaguete City. Bacong Dairy Farm brings their milk to Norient Milk.
An interesting guy. The kind of bloke you’d like to have a chat with over a beer 🍺 and exchange life experiences. It does seem like you Americans are very clued up re visas etc in the Philippines. Useful guys to know 👍🏻
Good interview Mark, I heard Steve I believe is his name say something about the Suwannee river in Florida and I was just wondering where he was in Florida because I live close to the Suwannee river in the small town of Live Oak Florida and I have been to the Philippines 5 times and my wife owns a home there now so I will be coming back I hope!
Mark can u ask him what shipping company/container he use to shipped his stuff to the Philippines? I'm your silent follower, I'm in the process of moving too.
I truly respect the fact that you chose to give him more than his services requested. Because many at times, we go out to these third word societies and we see that they have little and still we try to take from them instead of giving. Awesome Steve!!!
If you guys want real fresh milk you dont have to go far----Silliman University has a farm not far off Rovira Drive, Dumaguette---you can buy fresh bottled refrigerated milk there
You may be surprised to know that when you buy a new car in the US and roll it off the lot, the difference in value is not by depreciation, but instead the difference in value is by the dealers profit margin.
In Maricopa Arizona it's 86F at 8 AM, it's going up to only 102F today. The Electric bill here to keep temp at 80F is a lot more that $338 per mo. I long to return to Dauin, however the medical needs of wife currently can't be served well in Dgte as in Phoenix.
Ok people of Dumagete. Here is a gap in the market. Go fill it! Whole milk is needed! Considering Filipinos are probably mostly lactose intolerant (I know I am), its not strange that our milk is powdered or boxed. Its probably also treated to be lactose free. I never get stomach problems drinking milk there but milk in the middle east and here in Australia is just difficult for me to digest.
what about the orphanage volunteering? ......cool mini-SUV yo! .....florida kicked my arse. lived in quincy for a few months as a kid, population 8,ooo, was the only white kid in my class. Cheers~
It's okay for the first year or so but if you don't move often the racism out there starts creeping in they are very subtle about it but there are a lot of province that are for China and don't like anyone from abroad
WTF......did I hear correctly that he was in the military as a Baker ?? And as an aside what the hell is the display of dog tags all about ?? As an ex vet of over 10yrs service infantry I’d like to call this out as Walter Mitty shite.....you don’t wear them as a civvy decades later....it’s not a thing if you have really served.
1. My medical Bio-data and emergency information is stamped on a dog-tag that I wear. 2. My issued dog tags are buried next to the grave of a loved-one. 3. If you go to P.I. leave the attitude in the States. You come across as a judgmental ___hole. Nice beret you're wearing . . . I will withhold judgment . . .
I love listening this interview. I am a Filipino here in Houston. Welcome to my beloved country.
Congratulations Steve!! Wishing you all the best in this next chapter of your life!! It sounds like you deserve it!!! 😊
Great interview, he looks a little like Ben Kingsley. I'd love to see more of him, I'm a veteran too.
Steve has a very unique look, in a good way, and very intelligent. He'd do well anywhere.
Great guy Steve. Wish u and family all d best nd God bless. Enjoy ur life ur new found home/country. Cheers
Very informative interview! Enjoy the Philippines, Steve.

Hey Ray. You got that right he's squared away.
Nice. Great how you are fitting in with and respecting the locals, Steve.

I was in Bali years ago and tipping was discouraged because of this reason. When in Rome do as the Roman's do.
@@jackcomber1087 exactly. Prices over there have doubled in the last 10 years

Definitely it brings up the prices😮😮😮 I hope nobody else would do that again. Please don’t raise up the prices for everybody ✋🏻✋🏻✋🏻

S and R ( jr Costco)for whole milk, they have lots of products from US. They actually carry Costco brands.
Fun fact it used to be s&r price smart…costco merged with pricesmart and then s&r dropped the pricesmart in its name…so in a roundabout way they are all connected

Great interview, it’s very informative.
He mentioned the Catholisism and morals of the people. How about all the single moms and men running out on their families?
Religious people pick and choose their morals
My package from New Zealand to PI took more than 3 months.
1st to comment. U2 BONO is back, nice interview. 👍
You are right. He look like Bono indeed🤩
I'd give him The Edge!🎸🌴
To me, he's a ringer for Ben Kingsley.
My first impression KID ROCK got a haircut
Mark can u ask him what shipping company/container he use to shipped his stuff to the Philippines? I'm your silent follower, I'm in the process of moving too.
extra large box
my husband used LBC balikbayan box no weight limit he sent 13 boxes 100dollars
I truly respect the fact that you chose to give him more than his services requested. Because many at times, we go out to these third word societies and we see that they have little and still we try to take from them instead of giving. Awesome Steve!!!
If you want a good multi cab, davao is the best place to get one modified and loaded multivan.
Until Steve talks, he's a ringer for Ben Kingsley!
What kind of van is that at the end?
Hello from Angeles City! Fantastic interview!
Indonesia have more than double that of the Philippine Islands numbering about 17,500.
If you guys want real fresh milk you dont have to go far----Silliman University has a farm not far off Rovira Drive, Dumaguette---you can buy fresh bottled refrigerated milk there
Very interesting!
So that’s what Ben Kingsley’s been up to

Nice Vlog Very informative Thanks for Sharing 👍👍👍✌️👋👌🙌💕
Would he consider being an adviser to a local baker to improve their product as I keep hearing about the difficulty getting good pastries there.
Try WRlife health insurance much better than Pacific cross specifically for X pats and no age limits I am just in the process of switching
So ya my electric bill is $338/ month during summer in Tampa Bay and 80 degrees at 9AM today.

Baker after the military
After after after after after after after after after.😅👌
At least he didn’t claim to be a Navy seal
Who made up that rule?
I don't wear mine, but wouldn't fault someone who felt an attachment to his time in the military.
What's an ex-vet?
1. My medical Bio-data and emergency information is stamped on a dog-tag that I wear.
2. My issued dog tags are buried next to the grave of a loved-one.
3. If you go to P.I. leave the attitude in the States. You come across as a judgmental ___hole. Nice beret you're wearing . . . I will withhold judgment . . .
Stay away from Leanne lulz she's a mermaid
