My tip is that the Lasinoh breast milk storage bags fit onto Spectra flanges. This way you don’t have to wash the bottles and you’re always pumping into something sterile. It was really a game changer for me and it’s a lot cleaner!
Can you please do a video on postpartum care for both mom and baby? I am currently 7 months pregnant and I think I have everything I need but I’d like to see you do a video.
I found a nursing hoodie and I used it for the first time today and it was amazing! My husband and I went shopping and it's like 20° out and we get out of the store and she's hungry....so I sat in the back of the car as it was still heating up and kept my hoodie on, unzip and fed my baby. LOVE
I had microwaveable bags that were designed to sterilize pumping equipment, so I only had to thoroughly wash the equipment once a day. Saved so much time when I was exclusively pumping for my firstborn!
You can get reusable silicone bags that are great for using the fridge method for your flanges and bottles. It's so nice to not have to throw a ziplock bag away everyday.
Kindred Bravely pump and nurse bras are hands down the best for big busted mom’s! Nipple balm (earth mama’s-my favorite) or some kind of oil to place on the nipples are great! Pics and videos of baby while pumping helps with letdowns❤️ Snacks for the pumping bag are a big plus! Hand sanitizer for after eating and touching pump parts!
I love the LaVie heated massagers! They help with letdowns and emptying, get clogs out faster, and distract from the sensation of pumping. I also take Legendairy Milk sunflower lecithin supplements which is supposed to prevent clogged ducts by thinning out the fat in your milk.
Can you talk about pumping and working full-time. What do you take to work, how much milk do you need for baby while she’s at daycare, how do you store the milk to bring to daycare?
Great video. I’ll add a couple tips I use to make things easier & less wasteful…use wet/dry bags instead of plastic zip lock bags. I have one for each day I’m in the office (I put used pump parts in the wet side & bags of pumped milk in the dry side and keep in the fridge during the workday…also helpful when out & about) and at the end of the week I wash them all for the next week. Also, Amazon has a pumping bra attachment so you can convert any nursing bra into a pumping bra (doubled my pumping options). :)
Thank you so much for the fridge hack!!! I've been wasting sooooo much time washing and drying all my stuff it was stressing me out! I'm definitely gonna try that hack. I'm also gonna buy that chiller. So, so helpful!
Hi! Love your videos. I’m 25 weeks pregnant with our first baby and was diagnosed with placenta previa at 20 weeks. I’ve talked to my midwife about it and have done a lot of reading, but I’m curious if you would do a video talking about previa and other complications like this from your perspective! You guys are awesome!
Tips to reduce waste and save the world so our babies can enjoy it!! Use reusable silicone ziplock bags, they are dishwasher safe so are also more sanitary. You can also get reusable, freezer safe silicone breast milk bags from Legendairy Milk. They also sell attachments both of which are generally reimbursable through insurance and/or FSA.
I have the Medela pump in style and I got a large Fannie pack that fits my pump and battery charger. Allows me to move around the house without having to carry my pump around.
I love using the pumping cups from legendary milk. They work so great and can hold up to 8oz per a cup. I never have issues with leaking either. I would also recommend them with a portable pump like the blue spectra or even the Baby Buddha pump, both give hospital grade suction just the baby Buddha is smaller and more compact. 🙂
I’m back at work and the fridge hack is a lifesaver!!!!!! I love the water bottle idea, I bet something like a Yeti would work too if you just put some ice in it and put your milk bags inside!
Everything I've ever read says you shouldn't pour freshly pumped (warm) milk directly into a collection of cooled milk. The cooler idea is great, but you'll still have to wait for the freshly pumped milk to cool completely before pouring it into the canister. And then you lose a lot of that nice, fatty hind milk that seems to always stick to the side of the bottle. Agree with K Rayne - Lasinoh milk bags can be put directly onto the flanges (I threw a little tape over the top for extra security) and then it's already in the bag, done, ready to go in the freezer. (Or just pump directly into the bottles for the next day).
Would it be possible to do a video on abdominal support/post partum binders? I'm 2 weeks out from having a C-section from my first baby and wanted to help things along. There are so much info and anecdotes from when to start wearing one- ex. right away, 6 weeks, later.....I don't want to do anything that will damage me but I do feel like I need help. Plus, what time of binder and how tight/how should it be placed and feel? There are so many to choose from 😨. I bought one but it doesn't feel right wearing it.... Maybe a video on it please?🥲
Here's a tip for discreet nursing (maybe help with pumping too?). I cut some old undershirts (usually t shirt or tank top with t shirt material since it doesn't fray easily) with vertical slits, 3-4 inches long I think, over or just a bit out from the nipple area (you could try cutting one and see how that goes and modify the next if necessary). Then, whether you wear a blouse or a larger over shirt, your upper chest and belly are still covered when nursing or pumping. Saves money over buying nursing shirts!
Thank you so much! Great info! I’d love for you guys to make a video on what foods to start your baby on. My baby is now 6 months so my doctor said I could start feeding them some solids. I am still exclusively breastfeeding but plan to start some other solids as well. I’ve seen so many articles recently saying that jar baby foods/rice cereal contain so many chemicals. Now I’m wondering what a pediatrician thinks. Is it best to just buy my own fruits and vegetables myself instead of the little containers? Also is it better to start with actual solids instead of mashed foods these days or does it make no difference? I get a little scared feeding her anything other than mashed food just yet but what is your take on it? Thank you doctors! I figured I’d ask the pros! :)
I would love to hear your thoughts as well. Baby led weaning vs mashed foods as a way to introduce solids. I am always afraid baby would choke bec of baby led weaning. Thank you!
My favorite pumping tip is to apply some oil of choice onto the breast/nipple area before pumping. It really helps to “lube” things up and lessen the friction. (I use almond oil). PS- love that milk chiller bottle
My favorite breastpumping thing right now is using a wearable breast pump (that fits inside my nursing/pumping bra) on one boob and a haakaa silicone pump on the other boob. This set up helped me be able to pump and move around. I have a handsfree breast pump as well but it is hard to bring around and do things because the flanges and bottles are jutting out of the bra so it is uncomfortable. I got my generic wearable breast pump from walmart for around C$50 and it is so worth it. I can even wear regular shirts because they are totally hidden underneath 😁

Hi there! Regarding the fridge hack, I heard another expert saying it but others are saying this is very unsafe practise and can be harmful for the child due to milk being contaminated with germs/yeast that builds up on unclean equipment that was stuck to your sweaty skin. Is this not a concern? My twins are premature so I am extra worried!
I always clean the breast shield between pumping, but I think as long as you are clean you will be fine. Wipe yourself down if your that sweaty and dirty I would imagine.
Hey thanks so much for these tips. I'm going in for a scheduled c-section in a couple of days and I'm wondering about switching bottles while pumping😫 With my last child Iwas an over supplier and everytime I switched bottles the breastmilk got all over me. If you have any tips and/or tricks please let me know!! Thanks so much!!❤❤❤❤
So, I found the Ceres breast milk chiller on their website, and cannot find just the bottle. I don't want all the extra parts. Do you know where to find just the bottle? I work in manufacturing and i may not have the ability to store my flangie and pump deal in the fridge like you suggested. Is there any other ways to store it, without having to wash it afterwards? Also, do all pumps work similarly with set up? I'm getting a madela brand from insurance.
I used the silverettes until about 6 weeks postpartum. She got her tongue tie fixed at 4 weeks and then I kept using them for 2 weeks beyond that. I absolutely think they saved my nipples and have them tucked away in my pumping bag for the next baby. I think they are the number one thing I would recommend for a new mom who is learning to breastfeed. (I'm kind of obsessed with nipple care after the rough start we had LOL)

Also, those nursing queen shirts seem like they have such a good design! I hate the ones that just have a cut out that you pull open. They never seem wide enough and always slip and get in the way. I just looked and nursing queen also have athletic tops with the zipper design, which seem really nice for wearing on hikes.

For the silicine flanges do you use the same size of your plastic one?
Awesome content- as always!
What’s your opinion about encapsulated placenta?
How do you see the things she links from the video?
Are you still using the silverettes? And do you still feel like their worth getting?
I used the silverettes until about 6 weeks postpartum. She got her tongue tie fixed at 4 weeks and then I kept using them for 2 weeks beyond that. I absolutely think they saved my nipples and have them tucked away in my pumping bag for the next baby. I think they are the number one thing I would recommend for a new mom who is learning to breastfeed. (I'm kind of obsessed with nipple care after the rough start we had LOL)
You seem kinda different compared to before you gave birth. I hope yall is well #prayingforyouall❤
Momanda also have some great pumping and nursing bras that are cute and stylish.

They are a silicone that helps with the hard plastic flanges. First heard of them from New little life by Allison
This is helpful for me because all I do is pump.
When do you start pumping?🙈
Do u have to use a ziploc bag.?
Hey !! My baby is currently 25 days old. I am worry he is always hungry and only takes like 30 minutes naps I tried to keep him awake for longer time but still takes only 30 minutes naps DAY/NIGHTS. Is it normal? (I’m a new mom)
For the first few months all the babies do pretty much is sleep and eat. It’s normal. The older they get the longer their wake up times will start to be. Don’t worry just rest when the baby rest

What's the benefit to a silicone flange over a plastic one?
Also, those nursing queen shirts seem like they have such a good design! I hate the ones that just have a cut out that you pull open. They never seem wide enough and always slip and get in the way. I just looked and nursing queen also have athletic tops with the zipper design, which seem really nice for wearing on hikes.
Silicone is more conforming and comfortable than the hard rigid plastic flanges. ♥️
I was hoping about more advice about the actual act of pumping... Not a recommendation of products. :/
