How to Change Oil & Filter Can Am Outlander Maintenance

  • Today I'm going to walk you through a standard oil & filter change for your Can-Am Outlander. Save yourself a couple hundred bucks by completing this easy maintenance step at home. The factory manual recommends this be done at 2,000 miles or 100 hours (1,000 miles / 50 hours severe riding conditions). However, I would perform this task at about half that recommended time, and coordinate to service the filter & oil change in conjunction with the ATV's first maintenance according the factory manual. This oil & filter kit is specified only for Can-Am Outlander models 570, 600, 650, and 850.

    Holy moly. This is tough to get at. Any tougher and we’d have to drop the whole engine.

    Great video brother, how do you reset, to get rid off the maintenance required?

    • @SoCalOutlanderATV
      @SoCalOutlanderATV  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Push the lower left button of the screen until you get to SETTINGS. Then push and hold the button again and it should say RES MAINT (reset maintenance). Then push and hold the button again. Then EXIT will come up. Push button again. Turn off, then on, it should no longer have the maintenance required dialogue.
      Hope this helps! Thanks for the support! 💯

    Oil change is ridiculously complicated. Wish CanAm would just make a removable door in the engine cover plastics to remove the filter. The effort and time it takes to replace the oil and filter is unacceptable.

      My local dealer quoted my cousin $400 for the service and 2-3 weeks turnaround. Absurd.

      the only thing you need to remove is the front wheel liner panel at 2:47 in video

    • @SoCalOutlanderATV
      @SoCalOutlanderATV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jaybirdflhss true, don't really need to remove the side panel. It does make it easier I think. But I did it more so to get a better view for the videos purpose.

    This is the first video I watched where you used the push pin removal tool. While you had those top plastic covers off you should have cleaned the belt air intake screen. ( or what ever they call it) good video.

    • @SoCalOutlanderATV
      @SoCalOutlanderATV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I actually should have while the plastics were off. Next time.

      @@SoCalOutlanderATV I bought the push pin removal tool from Harbor Freight, similar if not the same as you had. I found it completely useless 🥺. I ended up just drilling them out. Fortunately I bought a variety box of pins at Harbor Freight and replaced them.

      Yeah I have a bag of extra push pins. Some can really be a pain to pull out. The one's I ruin I simply replace.

    Question: What is the control panel button assembly on your dash at 5:50? Is that OEM or aftermarket? Just found it on your audio setup install for the ATV! Very cool! 👍🏻

    Every how often you gotta do a oil change?

    • @SoCalOutlanderATV
      @SoCalOutlanderATV  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you ride in regular conditions every 100 hours (2,000 miles), if severe conditions every 50 hours (1,000 miles) whichever comes first. If you don't ride often it should be once a year regardless. This is according to the owner's manual. Hope this helps.

    Only requires 2.1 quarts with filter change not 2.5.
