@@squarenailsquirrel9638 Sorry to hear that, maybe next year as you said. But you know your videos are good to even be in the running, keep up the good work and thanks.
Thank you turned out to be a great quick hunt. I too feel the sadness when it comes to the house that has stood for so long has to come down. It's in pretty bad shape and financially isn't aligned to renovate. The owners live in a house down the road and will be building their retirement home on the site of this old home. With everything there is an end but at least we got to get out there and experience it while it still stands. Thank you for tuning in to check out the video.
Than you. I believe he is.. I dropped off his large cent after making my ending video scan of finds.. he mentioned he had a great time and was thinking about a place just down the road he would like to metal detect. I offered up my MX Sport to borrow until he gets a machine of his own.
This was a fun one to make.. typically I have around 150 video clips to weed through with this one only have about 30. Made things nice so I could show more on the digs and such. I'll be out detecting this site tomorrow to make another video and I lined up a totally new permission for this coming Sunday.. I think it's going to be another good one. Thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you for your kind comments.. I try my best to portray the hobby accurately as well as gain the interest of those already in the hobby and those not in the hobby yet.. to actually go out and discover their own adventures. The world is filled with so much to explore and metal detecting is a good way to get out and do that. Thank you for tuning in to check out the video.. take care.
Nice finds. Shaums house is a great site. I like those large cents, I'm still hoping to find one someday. I found my first Kennedy half about a week and a half ago. Keep swinging and happy hunting.
Thanks... this short hunt revealed some great finds. It took me a long time before I found my first... they can be mixed in signal. I would say half of my large cents through all my detecting years have been scratchy and jumpy but I dug them anyway. Depending on the corrosion levels they can be hard to decipher as a good or bad target. Good luck with finding one and eventually you will. Thanks for checking out the video.
Congrats on that beautiful '35 silver GW squirrel !!!! It looked awesome coming out of the dirt. You don't find em too often. I too got a '74 Kennedy half recently. It screamed in my ears....there's no missing those when the coil gets over them. Thanks for another quality VID !!! I look forward to the next.
Thank you.. finding that quarter was awesome and yes.. it was in great shape after getting it cleaned up at home. Haha.. on the Kennedy half.. they really sound of nicely. If you can recall what target ID do you remember getting on your coin? Just seeing if any difference on soil that may be different than mine. Thank you for checking out the video and good luck out hunting.
Thanks... I keep it real on here. It was nice to find some silver and some older coins...and to find them at a place I’ve been to so much is amazing. Haha!!! Yup.. I’m sure he is hooked now. I cleaned the coin up for him and will be dropping it off on my next hunt out there. Thanks for checking the video out.
Another great video Ken . Im always looking forward to your next vid.lol I drive long haul truck and don't get a lot of time to detect so I get my fix here on TH-cam.and you truly put out a good down to earth video.i do own an 800 nox. And love it but I carry my AT Pro in the truck with me. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Duane. I totally understand the time restraints and deadlines but I've never had a chance to get behind the wheel of a big truck. Funny story.. I always said if I won the lottery instead of the Ferrari I wanted a old school cab over semi all decked out in black and monster chrome stacks.. has to have the fender wells over the back tires too. I think those are so cool when I see them at car shows. Anyways... Glad these videos are getting the fix for detecting and thank you for the compliment on being down to earth. I met a guy lately that metal detected rest areas a lot.. he said the areas where the picnic tables are always provide lots of trash gut also lots of rings and jewelry. Being state land and public.. I believe it would be ok although I am not for sure. Thanks for checking out the video and keep safe out on the road.
Awesome video Kenny! 😀👍 ...it was very nice of you to lend your detector to the homeowner and even better that you guys found a beautiful large cent! 🤩👍 ...but I bet you were happy to find that sweet silver quarter too!!! 🤩👍
Thank you DG27. It was fun sharing a detector with him, giving a little instruction and letting him just take off to see what comes up. When the Sport hit that signal I had him go back over it, pointed out the response and told him "this is going to be good one". I was thinking a silver dime since it was in the hight 70's on VDI but out popped a large cent in the plug.. it was so cool. The quarter was a surprise.. rang up so loud and clear. I need to hunt on that side of the yard more since I've mostly focused up around the house. Should be out this coming weekend to hunt a new site.. taking lots of water because it's going to be scorcher. Thanks for checking out the video. :)
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. I try my best with the plugs.. key is the knife I use is super thin for the strength it has enabling the knife to slide in like a butter knife (no resistance to the side wall of the plug like the monstrous digger designs of modern day) and keeping the blade very sharp. I don't think I could cut paper with mine but it's very close. Thank you for the good luck wishes.. I will use them tomorrow 7-17-19 on another evening after work hunt at this site. :)
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 That's good information to know. Hope the weather holds out for you for your dig. We have storms coming in for the next two day followed by another heatwave. I want September weather to come quickly, haha. Happy Hunting :)
I have noticed in my own hunts that often the plugs were off centre from the actual target locations. When I check the hole again the target was actually off to the side. Other times they were the dead centre and the recovery time was quicker. There’s got to be more in that great location! Great video thanks!
When I ran White's machines solely I found that when the target was off to the side 9 out 10 the target was junk unless I totally missed it. I see the same trend with the equinox.. the junk fall off to the sides, like I have to dig a side plug within the large plug to retrieve. But.. when its a coin or a target is dead center. I haven't confirmed that this is always true but I have found the trend. I will be back out on this site tomorrow to do another evening hunt so hopefully a few more good finds. Thank you for checking out the video and take care.
Thank you Dave... turned out to be a great evening detecting finding some cool stuff. I get really pumped up after a hunt like this and ready for the next hunt.. ummm.. here in about 20 minutes I'll be out making the next video. Leaving work with the tires on fire. LOL.
Hello from Australia, really enjoy the channel. I have only been watching for a few weeks but I love the way you go about it. Thanks for taking the time to show settings. It really helps. As an Aussie coin TH-camr I love seeing all the US coin finds. Keep up the great work. Happy Hunting PJ
Hello to you too and thank you for checking out my channel. That's great you like the cadence and info I put in the video.. I try my best with them. Glad I can help with the US coin finds.. I hope I can score some more this coming weekend at a totally new site. Not sure where you are located but my sister has lived east of Melbourne for about 7 years now.. she really enjoys life over there. Thanks for checking out the video and for commenting. I'll jump over and sub your channel.
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 well I'm from Melbourne also. In the south east from Berwick. I just bought my self an equinox 600. I should have bought the 800. My family and I are taking a holiday in the USA from late August for a month traveling around. Looking forward to getting some US coins to add to my collection. PJ
Thank you for being so thorough with your descriptions and settings. Im constantly learning more about my equinox 800 while watching your videos. Overall fun to watch and informative!! Great job.
Thank you Brian... glad what I'm doing on here has helped out with your hunt. I've been super busy the past two weeks so videos are taking the hit. Thanks for tuning in and good luck with any hunts you have coming up.
Thank you. Wow! glad you like the video quality.. I have tried so hard to get these videos where they aren't annoying to watch due to the quality. Knowing that what I'm doing is working makes all the effort worth it. Thank you very much for checking out the video and for you kind comments.
Exactly.. I though it was awesome when I looked in the plug to see it sticking out the side. Such a cool experience. Thank you for checking out the video.
This permission has been awesome. I have this home site and another I discovered out in the farm field to hunt... all kinds of really nice finds have came from here. Thanks for checking out the video. I should be back out here soon to try different settings as well as direction of approach.
Thank you Davis.. I think he was very happy with the find. I stopped by to drop off the large cent and the other coins I found and he was already thinking about some places he wants to go check out once he gets a hold of a machine. Thank you for checking out the video.
Thank you Jimmy.. It was fun being a part of that competition but as of yesterday I was out of the running. DrTones was chose to move to the next round. I'm cool with it.. I couldn't afford the airfare to get over there if I won anyways.. I need to be saving so I can get one of the new Minelab Vanquish machines.
Love the half. Found one myself the other week. As like you they don't come very often. Loyal subber here. Love the channel. Keep up the great videos AquaLand Relics
That's great you also found a half.. they are fun to find. :) Seems like my finds go in waves.. get a dry spell and then a spell filled with cool stuff. It's always kinda been like that but I'm ok with it. Thanks for the sub and tuning in to check out what I'm doing on here... greatly appreciated.
Square Nail Squirrel....yes the life of a detectorist. Not to far from ya. We live in Maryland. So some pretty cool history here also. Keep a digging your doing great!
Nothing like a after work hunt to clear your mind of the stress, well I work for the Post Office so there is always stress or something going on. Figured it’s like that everywhere. Anyway...Another great video, and great finds. Bet the land owner is hooked after a find like that. Good luck on the next hunt.
I like the hunts after work.. gives a good break from the normal patters we get into during the work week and definite release from stress. The landowner was already talking about other places he would like to detect when I dropped his coin off yesterday.. I think he is hooked. LOL.. Thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you. Yes... I spoke to him again this evening and passed him back all the coins found during the hunt. He told me again about how much fun he had out there... I believe the experience brought another to the hobby. 🙂 thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you.. had a lot of fun on this hunt. I couldn't believe it when the MX Sport rang off in the high 70's.. I mentioned to him just before digging "this most likely is going to be something good". LOL.. Was such an awesome experience. Thanks for checking the video out.
Thank you Dime Digger.. I try my best with the videos. Thanks for the good luck wishes.. I found out yesterday that I'm out of the running and DrTones24K was chose to be the USA winner and proceed to the next level. Was cool to be 1 of 5 though... I couldn't afford a plane ticket over there anyway even if I did win. :) Thanks for checking out the video and good luck with any detecting you have coming up.
Awesome video have to love the large cent and silver! I love the nox 800 I’ve went back to old sites and found a lot more even though I hit it hard! Great machine!!
Thank you :) This video was a blast to make.. especially with the land owner finding a great find. I too really enjoy my equinox.. has been a total change to my detecting experience for the better. Only thing I keep asking myself is.. why didn't I jump on board last year. :) Thanks for checking the video out.
What an amazing first target for his first time detecting. Congrats on the silver Quarter. Enjoyed watching another quality episode. I was trying to guess each target by the numbers shown and also called the snap lock a quarter lol. Take care.
I was totally amazed when that came out of the ground.. such a cool experience. I think I found some can slaw on my fist target. LOL. Thanks for the congrats. :) That's funny you also though it was a quarter.. if though for sure it was but ended up that snap lock. Since it was right on top and not deep was guessing someone dropped it recently. Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for checking it out.
A great first find for the landowner but that usually means an early end and slower day of finds. You still had a VERY good time and day of finds too! The nox800 is still an amazing machine to me. Its performance is tops! Later Bart
After the landowner found that coin he found some other targets like Matchbox cars and some can slaw. The matchbox is believed to be his son's so I brought it home to clean up while I cleaned up the large cent for him too. Tomorrow I will be back out there to detect and will drop that stuff and the quarter off to show appreciation for allowing me to hunt such an awesome site. The hunt was fun out there and had a great time.. I'm hoping tomorrow I can pull a few more good finds out. Thanks for checking out the video.
great video, beauty shot under the trees looking up at the canopy, glad you petted the little guy 1939 d or s nickel has some value, but one dug, don't know i've hammered clad coins flat and spent them
Thank you and glad you enjoyed coming on the hunt. I tend to look up a lot when I am under canopy like in the video.. a lot of beauty that goes unnoticed a lot. I wasn't aware of the 1939 with those mint marks holding value... I need to know more about coins and values but to me they are kind of just another item to find. Sounds weird I know.. LOL. The older the better for me and condition.. not an issue as long as I can see the date.. .I'm good. I haven't hammered any coins back flat and just left them in the condition as found but in order to start getting some return I have started to put all my clad in a bucket in the garage. Thank you for tuning in to check out the video as well as commenting.
Thank you. :) Yes, I though the same thing when I saw it sticking out of the plug. It took me about three years before I hit my first one so making this his first dig was totally awesome. Thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you.. The finds were great on this hunt and I'll return at some point. Since nobody wants to buy my V3i I most likely will start using it again and try it on this site since the Equinox has been over it a few times. Once the house is taken down we will check the cellar hole and the graded off yard since the soil will be moved around and possibly get to some deeper targets. Thanks for checking out the video.
Neat scooping in the owner, and what a find! How many people in this hobby can claim something like that? This week I’ve pulled FOUR Kennedy halves from a park that’s little more than ten years old. I can only imagine someone seeded those at some point. Now if I only knew how many more!
Turned out great. I always get worried when introducing someone to detecting because success in the finds means quite a bit dealing with interest of the hobby. I think he is hooked now. :) but even if he didn't get the half the interest would still be there. He enjoys history quite a bit so the hobby fits him well. That's awesome on that many halves.. bet that was a blast uncover. I hope you find the other 20-30 halves out there that were missed in the possible seeded hunt. :) Thanks for watching and take care.
Thank you Eric.. Haha.. yes.. it was such an awesome experience when he hit that target. I told him just before it was dug up "this is going to be something good". The MX Sport was hitting it pretty hard and ringing high 70's. Thanks for checking out the video.
jj diggins here another great video! Awesome info and great finds I’m a equinox 800 guy love the machine! I’m not far from where u hunt maybe we can find some treasure sometime together! Makes it a lot of fun to do hunts as a team I watch the quarter hoarder to and looks like fun challenging and have fellow diggers to go with let me know!!
Thank you... glad you liked the video. I believe next year I am going to take on about 10 invites to go dig with folks within about 3 hours of driving so that works out well that you are near. It would be cool to head out for the day and hunt a place as a team so eventually when I am in a place to do so.. we can get together and hunt. Thank you for the suggestion and for checking out the video. Keep in touch.
I think I will just sit here with the AC on and watch you sweat. I can no longer can take the heat or the cold. Well done video and thanks for sharing the fun.
Haha!.. glad I can provide the hunt. Lately I have been having a hard time enduring the heat. I am from KY and the heat never bothered me, it's probably 30% worse there than here. I guess I'm starting to get soft.. LOL.. not sure. Thank you for checking out the video.
Hello Kenny. Now that's the way to spark up a newbie with a Largie. That's all it takes to get someone started on the hobby. Will you be returning after the house is demolished? Enjoying your videos. H.H. _/
Hello Luis.. I think he really enjoyed getting out and trying detecting. I told him he may be spoiled for a bit after hitting that large cent on the first find. LOL.. I will be returning to the house to hunt it here in about 20 mins as well as other times before and after the home has been taken down. I would like to explore the cellar hole as well as the yard after some grading has taken place.. might get me closer to some deeper finds. Thank you for checking out the video and for commenting.
Kenny, thanks again for another high quality production. Some very fine pieces recovered. Your digs are real and that makes your presentations educational and exciting to watch. I noticed a couple of your plugs missed the targets slightly. I have days like that too. I don't like making secondary holes within holes but it happens when you get the odd target. You are so consistent in pinpointing that when you are off-center it stands as a rare event. What do you think happened here? Curious to learn and improve my pinpointing. Thanks.
Thank you and great to hear the videos are going over well. I truly try my best with them amongst all the complications that come with one man band type videography. lol. With the pinpointing I have noticed on the equinox, the same on my V3i and MXSport that the junk targets tend to be the off center ones. Especially the rod or elongated in shape type targets. Historically if I dug a plug and it wasn’t in center there was an ultra high probability the target was a trash target. I haven’t had enough time on the equinox to be absolutely certain but I do see the same trend.
Ya know, I do believe you hit the Square nail on the head with that observation. The Equinox, being my only detector, can center coins with precision, but the irregular shapes and junk make me struggle to keep my plugs and holes as small as I would like. Thanks for sharing that gem of experience Kenny.
Awesome video Ken. I've noticed on my 800 when the Recovery is lower I miss centering the targets ( sometimes), I'm going to test this a little closer next time I'm out. Until next time GL&HH *Chris*
Thank you, this was a fun hunt and video to make. I haven't had that experience but I would like to know what you end up feeling about it after you look into it closer. When I used White's machines primarily in the past I found that the trash targets were almost always off center of the dig. If I dug a plug and the target was off to the side it was almost always junk. The coins and more definite signals were almost always in the center.. I will be continuing to see if the relationship holds true from my White's usage to the new found Minelab usage. Thanks for commenting and for checking the video out. Good luck with you hunts. :)
Thank you Liz.. The setup on my camera stand is half of a surveying bi-pod that holds up a staff when taking a location shot. I have had some pieces TIG welded on so and machined so that I can adapt GoPro brackets to it. The Gopro brackets are in reverse fashion that they are used normally... I have cut off with a cutting wheel all the locking mechanisms from the GroPro mounts for ultra quick detachment and then took a cheap phone case and epoxy glued on a camera mount base made by Gopro that's normally used on car hoods. It was something I came up with over trial and error... expensive to build, especially if no access to a Bi-pod but I needed something that would deploy ultra fast and transition from 3 feet to 7 feet tall in seconds. I tried a tripod but that wasn't in the cards unless on a perfectly flat surface.. which I never am.
Good stuff! Awesome find on the quarter. That’s crazy he found that large cent, there has been people that have been detecting for year and have never found one haha
Thanks man.. I wasn't expecting the quarter.. sounded off so nice when I sweeped over it. I thought it was awesome when it came up.. just before we dug the plug I told him "it's going to be something good".. LOL.. just wasn't expecting the large cent to show up... very glad that it did. :) Thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you.. I was told by the land owner if I wanted to give a try I could down there. The problem with down there deals with hundreds of canning jar lids that are embedded in the dirt floor. I still might give it a try just to see what might show up. The best floor to check under the oldest part of the home has had a layer of concrete placed on it blocking any detecting. Still might be fun to explore down there... there is still some times before it goes. Thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you. He has shown interest in the hobby in the past but his was the first time he used a machine. I had spoke with him earlier in the day and he wanted to watch me detect.. instead I insisted he just take a machine and actually do it. Glad he took me up on the offer so he could land that large cent.. it was a lot of fund and a great experience. Thanks for checking out the video.
Nice video buddy, I enjoy watching your yard hunts, pretty different to what we do in the UK. I may knock a few doors of some big old houses and try my luck. ATB MMMD
Thank you Mud Max MD'ing.. I try my best with making videos of the hunts I go on.. Typically for me my metal detecting sites are old farm fields where an old home used to stand, foundations out in the woods and old standing homes like the one is this video. Public areas such as beaches, parks, ball fields.. etc.. just aren't ones I frequent. Knocking on doors to find places to detect can be fun on the metal detecting aspect as well as meeting new people.. most of the time it leads to other places to metal detect once a line of trust has been established. Thank you for checking out the video and good luck with any upcoming hunts.
Hey Kenny, you really do amazing videos! I try to be creative out in the field, but my videos are basically generic and mono-tone. Great job and great finds! I really love the burros in the video!
Thank you Grant... I try my best with them. Trust me.. when I started making videos it was nothing like what I'm doing now. Prior to metal detecting videos I was making Instagram post videos for surveying for 2 years.. I did a lot of improvement doing video on there (@geospatially_opinonated).. now I produce between 2-3 videos a week on there and continue to find my cadence with the longer, more intricate videos doing detecting. Takes a bit to get going so keep at it and just be yourself.. Thanks for checking out the video.
Love the way your doing your videos! There has to be a way to get more subscribers to your channel! I enjoy the beginning and end of your show it’s like watching the history channel!
Thanks Richard, greatly appreciate that. I'm ok with 1 subscriber... :) as long as someone watches what I'm doing then I'm ok with taking the effort to share. I don't want to spend 60 seconds with each video begging people to subscribe.. if they want to watch they will return. Thanks for tuning in to check out what I'm doing on there..
After work hunt!! I love them...That dime looks like it was hit by the mower. I get a lot of coins in that condition from my local parks. One question, I ground balance then leave the auto balance on. Is there a particular reason you don't? LOVING the plug pad!! Thanks again Ken!
Its nice to head out from work and break out the machine for the rest of the evening. Takes quite a bit of strategic planning not to disrupt the week but able to be done time to time. I don't use the auto track because the machine is always tracking. Here are the three main reasons I don't auto track 1. I manually pump and balance about every 45 mins to balance to the area I am at during that point in time for an accurate balance. 2. If my machine auto tracks while I sweep over a coin, at that instance, I just missed that coin either by the auto tracking adjustment or by the auto track actually setting my balance to the coins mineral count making it a ghost until the next time the machine auto tracks back to soil. 3. When auto tracking on non perfectly flat surfaces like all the fields I hunt.. there is tons of falsing. My hunting style is whats called Lock Track.. I set to the soil in the area I am at and balance often as I move around the site.
Thank you. Yes.. He is hooked... I stopped by to drop of the large cent and the coins I found so he can have some items to show family and friends. He said he had a great time and is already scoping out places he would like to detect.. I offered him my MX Sport to borrow until he gets a machine of his own. It's a great hobby to get into and glad he had a good time trying it out. Thank you for checking out the video.
Hey Kenny, another great video. I was amazed at what you found considering you have searched that yard multiple times before with the MX Sport and V3i. I have a question, do you really think you just missed those coins because you had not previously swung over them, or did the Nox just sniff them out because the other machines could not? Hard to believe that half and quarter was not hit before. Also, I love how you explain your settings before you videos. I would be interested in knowing your logic why you choose one setting over another depending on the location. For example, "Park 1", "Park 2", "Field". Why did you go with "Field" on this hunt?
Seems like every time I go to this site I find all kinds of new items.. hard to believe I missed a quarter but all it takes is a couple inches on a swing path to miss something. I can't say for sure why I missed them.. I believe at the depths as well as the non dense target matrix where I found the quarter and nickle that it was my technique or error in covering the site accurately in that area. Seems like the first two to three hours of a hunt I do a good job but after that I dwindle in my thoroughness. Where I found the half I have actually never swung a coil on because it's close to the barn which holds a lot of trash.. my interest was low in checking that area but did this time.
Thank you and glad you enjoy the videos. I cover off on that in a few videos but this weekends hunt I will try to remember to do it again. 1) Find a clean target free spot on the ground (use pinpoint to see if any targets exist). 2)tap the setting button ⚙️ until you get to ground balance (second from left side). 3) hold your detector coil waist high in the air and press and hold down the accept reject button (on the right side with ✔️/➖) keep holding the button down and pump the coil to and from the waist high level and the ground back and forth (don’t hit the ground... just close to it). You will see the numbers on the machine screen change up or down... you will also hear the threshold sound change to a higher or lower pitch with each pump until it evens out in tone and the numbers on the screen quit adjusting. You are now balanced. Let go of the accept reject button and you are finished. Balance often as you move around your site.. if you have auto track on the machine will keep balancing the machine. I don’t use it but some folks do depending on site conditions.
Thanks for the heads up.. I will take another look at it to see if the D mint shows up. Wish I knew all these key dates better.. thank you for watching as well as commenting.
Than you Greg.. I hope to be back out this weekend to detect a new house out in the country.. hopefully get into some great finds. Thanks for checking the video out.
Hello again I have another question - Firstly, I have watched 100’s of Detecting videos of all kinds and your’s is the most informative and logical so I am seeking some advice I really am ready to upgrade from my Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 I have narrowed it down to the AT Pro, The Minelab Equinox 600 and the Minelab Equinox 800... Would you have any advice for me? This will be an important investment for me so I want to choose wisely Thank you!
I understand the cost associated and the importance to make the right decision. I don't have any experience with the AT series of machines so I can't comment on them although the world uses them and enjoys the performance they provide. I have the Equinox 800 and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the machine so far... it has taken the place of a $1200 White's V3i as well as a $900 White's MX Sport.. I don't even want to pick them up anymore because of the difference it has made. The same experience may not take place for you though... it's all in how much you want to dedicate yourself to learning the machine, settings and getting field experience with the machine. It doesn't matter how much a machine costs.. it's the operators training and skills. Once thing I would note about upcoming releases.. Minelab has the AT series and the MX Sport machines in it's sights with a release of a machine called the Vanquish this fall... I will own one.. it's single frequency from what I can decipher so far but there isn't a lot of info. The price is going to be in-line with a AT or MXSport purchase.
Square Nail Squirrel thank you This is great information! Well, because I am fairly new to this and my wife’s (understandable) concern for the expense, i have just this week decided I would further my skills with the Ace 400. I saw your video using it in the field. I saw many others - read many reviews and for under $400 i can develop my skills. I have heard so many great things about the Equinox 800. I will see how i do with the Ace and go from there. I appreciate your response Thanks
Hello Smokeydk... thanks for joining in on the channel and it's great you purchased a 600. I actually store my detectors on top of a wide body gun safe.. it's up and out of the way so they don't get accidentally broke... I have seen them hung from a wall horizontally and vertically with took hanging hooks which seems to work well. I wouldn't suggest doing storing them in the garage though since the temperatures in the garage aren't controlled and hit the extremes listed in the online Equinox manual.
Great video, I'm new to your channel and I'm sub'd. You do good work 👍. Great camera work, If you could on your final wrap up shot zoom in a tiny bit. That Indian Head Cent looked to be in amazing condition. Check that 74 Kennedy for the double die stamping. Could be worth good money. Happy hunting, see you at your next video. Peace ☮️
Than you and glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for subbing.. I promise to always keep it family friendly, educational and entertaining. I have built the contraption I do my ending scroll shot like 4 times now.. it's been a pain to master it. The problem with digital zoom is the dissolution of precision of the video. My phone is like 5 inches away from all the targets but I need to keep it that high due to larger items I find that need to pass under the lens. I do zoom a little but not much so the clarity is retained.. I will try to work something out so the coins show up better in high detail. Work in progress. Thank you for checking out the video and for commenting. Take care.
Hey Kenny, I was wondering why you cut your plugs all the way around? I have heard that it is harder on the grass to grow back and the plugs may get sucked up in the lawn mower due to not being attached. Have you noticed your plugs growing back ok? Just wondering.
MoparMonster.. short and sweet on my reply.. If you dig a complete plug as I do and gingerly work through the roots you barely disturb the grass in the plug. Yes.. by cutting the complete plug you sever all sides. When you dig a three sided horseshoe plug your sever buy cutting three sides and then rip the roots apart on the fourth inevitable creating a complete cut plug. Then.. .search the roots gingerly the same. Here is the key to the success rate for survival of a plug.. it's Ziplocking back the edges around the plug once it's back in place to lock in the moisture. If all edged of the plug are neatly and carefully placed back into position, the plug has no issues going on with life. I have visited and revisited sites I have hunted and the grounds are always as I came to them, left them and returned.. unharmed. Don't dig shallow plugs.. if you notice I get the full digger deep, about 6-7 inches of soil with undisturbed root systems. Also.. never dig in dry soils.. moisture is key. When it's hot out and no rain in the forecast.. it's also a no dig time in yards although woods and fields are a "Go".
Hi Pete. The video equipment up until three weeks ago was an iphone7 and now it's an iphone XR. The quality on the 7 was good but this XR is really producing great video quality. I run it on 1080P and 60FPS utilizing the filmic pro app to record. Once I collect the video I edit on Adobe Premier Pro and export on a H264 format on 1080P High Quality HD instead of the TH-cam 1080P setting. If you need a further breakdown just email me and I will elaborate and if you obtain supplies relative to what I'm using or have similar there are about 20 other settings that effect the quality as well as technique in capturing. The stead shots when I am driving or walking that look cinematic are all done using a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 gimble. Thanks for checking out the video. Also.. .the oval decal for Anderson which are on the, best described, drivers side of the shaft by the control housing of the Equinox.. do you sell those individually?
Love how you work Learning a lot! Question: have you ever experienced your returned plugs turning brown? I have had a few instances where the homeowners were not too pleased a few weeks after I detected.... I was being very careful and meticulous I just don’t want to worry about this every time i get a permission Any suggestions? Thanks man!
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. I'm going to grab a response I typed just a few mins ago and place it in the next reply I send to you about plugs. There are ways to keep the plugs happy and the homeowners happy as well. Plug digging and damage to the yard can be one of the most difficult items to control when out detecting.. I watch weather like a bandit to insure I can leave a site knowing the plugs will survive. I also pick and choose my sites as to what weather is in store during the times I can hunt.. switching to fields or wooded hunts during the hot months is key.. then return to the home sites once a forecast with rain dictates going back. Thank you for checking out the video and I hope the following helps out.
short and sweet on my reply.. I have visited and revisited sites I have hunted and the grounds are always as I came to them, left them and returned.. unharmed. Square Nail Squirrel this is excellent advice and encouraging! I can now proceed! But not today Forecast of 100 degrees and no rain for 2 days I really appreciate your help Keep on hunting and take care
I believe so. I went by his house last night to return his large cent and the other coins that I found. He mentioned that he had a great time and really enjoyed the experience.. already talking about asking a neighbor to detect their house. I offered up the Sport anytime he wants to go to borrow until he gets a unit of his own. Great hobby and glad he join in on the hunt.
I'm keeping the MX Sport, it's a great tool but the V3i is going. Eventually when a new White's machine comes out that isn't a color and frequency change of an already existing detector then I will consider going for it. White's Electronics has done a great job over the years and provided many good hunts for me but my interest has changed, as we all have seen, and it can change right back as White's or any other company comes out with a great new machine. For me it's not the brand loyalty anymore.. it's the finds.
Hey Waiting on a new video. I only follow 2 people you and kevin from Texas. I would like to see what you found lately. My Equinox has been killing it lately on the rings. Hope your finding some good stuff?
I've been to TX, SC, KY and back here to OH in the past couple weekends... limited time to hunt. I do have a video from this past Sunday's hunt that I'm editing tonight after work. Should be uploaded through the night Tuesday.
I was thinking the same thing. I appreciate the way you film and put together your videos. Helped me figure out my 800 more than you know. You also helped me convince my ol man he should get an 800 too. Cheers man, keep up the good work
Harrison Cole he does a great job and I really enjoy the videos! I’ve got the 800 and 600. I keep the 6 inch coil on my 600 and my 10 inch on the 800. I love my 6 inch coil I use it just about all the time now. It has helped me recover 12 rings in the last 60 days. Found 2 14kt and one had 10 diamonds. I’ve hunted for 40 years and I never found rings like this until I picked up the equinox ! Good luck and happy hunting!!
@@HighTones What are your VDI's (and other settings) for the rings you find? I have the 600 and love it so far, but no jewelry.... usually run Field 1.
The house has passed the point of repair. Issues with foundation as well as the cost of redoing all the wiring, rotted structure, etc. just doesn't warrant fixing it back up. The landowners are home on this site.. just the cycle of life and time.Very thankful to have the opportunity to experience while it stood and it's awesome to record it's existence for the time we have left with it.
@@kayesdigginit1519 For some reason I always think about the home that once stood on all the sites I detect.. there is a sadness but all in due time everything has an end.
Can you or anyone on this channel plz explain to me how to find the older homesites. I have a few web sites but unfortunately it only brings me back to around the 1940 or so. I can’t seem to find a place or site that brings me to the older sites. I live in caddy Parrish louisiana. Any help would be appreciated. Thx
Jason... start with the Videos tab under my channel and expand to older ones. Check out the video on "Find a place to Metal Detect Research".. you will find the info helpful. From my quick search without delving in too deep make sure to take note about the Sanborne Fire Maps for your location. Hope it helps out... I didn't see a Caddy parrish but I did see a Caddo. Seems like still in 1904 government land grants were still being sold in your area.. might not have been much settlement so check railroad maps (at courthouse or an annex for taxation and land ownership records).. those corridores were first to settle.
Thank you for the response. I will def check out that video, and the leads you gave me. Awesome job on all your videos, I love watching them. I too grew up metal detecting from around age 13-14, I’m now 40. Thanks again for you help. Happy hunting my friend.
Thank you.. this hunt turned out to be short but sweet one. :) I typically don't get to Florida much but a beach hunt would be great change up.. thank you for the offer and next year when I make plans to go out and hunt with viewers.. maybe we can work something out. Thank you for checking out the video and take care.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. I’ll try to PM you (this will be my first attempt on TH-cam) and get in touch about the decal... if any shipping costs let me know so I can cover off on it. There’s still good space on the machine to place your decal and i’ll Do my best to present it well.
Haha. I’m actually selling the V3i currently and keeping the MX Sport. The large cent I brought home to clean up for him and i’ll be passing it back to him as well as the silver quarter next time I get out to the site. Thanks for checking out the video.
I enjoy your chanel so please don't take offense to this, but be careful you don't fall into the habit of spending more time in front of the camera than your actual digging.. I've been watching a few different vids and some good channels are dropping subs real fast because of this,I'll not name names butyouwil' know them, and the comments are brutal..HH, MAC
With any story you have to do whatever it takes to portray the "story".. sometimes that involves being in front of the camera. I have no return from these videos other than the enjoyment of making them and sharing so I'm not worried about band standing. I My intent is not band standing... I'm not a superstar, just a normal person with the same issues in the field and on the hunt as everyone else, only difference is I have a camera and I take about 5K people with me on each hunt. I know what you mean though about the show boat type videos though.. they do get a little tiresome at times.

Good job, I don't know how I missed this I just saw it, so if I understand correctly we'll know something tomorrow. Fingers crossed, good luck.
Wishing you the best of luck. What a dream hunt. Good luck.
As of yesterday I am out of the running for the competition.. maybe next year. Thank you for the support :) and for checking out the link.
@Donald Lee Thank you Donald :)
@@squarenailsquirrel9638
Sorry to hear that, maybe next year as you said. But you know your videos are good to even be in the running, keep up the good work and thanks.
Great finds. So sad to a house like that torn down. The stories and history it must contain...
Great video ! The land owner should be completely hooked into the hobby after a sweet find like that. :)
Than you. I believe he is.. I dropped off his large cent after making my ending video scan of finds.. he mentioned he had a great time and was thinking about a place just down the road he would like to metal detect. I offered up my MX Sport to borrow until he gets a machine of his own.
Short but sweet video, thanks and keep them coming.
You are a true asset for promoting the hobby. It is always great watching your adventures and your photography is amazing.
Another real detecting video. 👍🏻 Pretty awesome that the land owner found a large cent for a very first target! I’m sure he is hooked now too!😂
Love watching your videos best on TH-cam.
Thank you smokey e... I greatly appreciate that. I will always try my best to provide good metal detecting videos.
Another great video. You make the best plugs ever! Good luck with your next hunt at the house.
Really enjoy watching your videos. By far the most informative and well made.
Another great hunt, really nice coins. Good job sharing with land owner. Love the donkeys.
Thank you Dave... turned out to be a great evening detecting finding some cool stuff. I get really pumped up after a hunt like this and ready for the next hunt.. ummm.. here in about 20 minutes I'll be out making the next video. Leaving work with the tires on fire. LOL.
Yet another great video from Square Nail Squirrel Productions!
Thank you Kurt.. greatly appreciate that. :)

Your welcome. When I have time to go hunt I just go even if it’s hot. Thank you for tuning in to check out the video. 🙂
I'll jump over and sub your channel.
@@squarenailsquirrel9638 well I'm from Melbourne also. In the south east from Berwick. I just bought my self an equinox 600. I should have bought the 800.
Nice finds! Probably the best video quality on TH-cam! Kudos to you my friend!!
Thank you. Wow! glad you like the video quality.. I have tried so hard to get these videos where they aren't annoying to watch due to the quality. Knowing that what I'm doing is working makes all the effort worth it. Thank you very much for checking out the video and for you kind comments.
Wow, not too many people with a detector can say their first dig was a large cent or a coin nearly 200 years old!
Exactly.. I though it was awesome when I looked in the plug to see it sticking out the side. Such a cool experience. Thank you for checking out the video.
Wow what a nice property! The largie and the silver quarter were awesome!
This permission has been awesome. I have this home site and another I discovered out in the farm field to hunt... all kinds of really nice finds have came from here. Thanks for checking out the video. I should be back out here soon to try different settings as well as direction of approach.
Great video, thanks Kenny!!
Thank you, great appreciate the kind words. It's a pleasure to make and share my hunts. :)
Great video !
I think you’ve made the land owner happy 👍
Thank you Davis.. I think he was very happy with the find. I stopped by to drop off the large cent and the other coins I found and he was already thinking about some places he wants to go check out once he gets a hold of a machine. Thank you for checking out the video.
Great video. Congrats on being 1 of 5 in the competition. Rain and I are pulling for you.
Keep up the great videos
AquaLand Relics
Good hunt mate, you'll have the landowner hooked with a great first find like that 😀🇦🇺
Thank you. Yes... I spoke to him again this evening and passed him back all the coins found during the hunt. He told me again about how much fun he had out there... I believe the experience brought another to the hobby. 🙂 thanks for checking out the video.
Nice hunt congrats on all your finds and the homeowner getting the large cent.
Thank you.. had a lot of fun on this hunt. I couldn't believe it when the MX Sport rang off in the high 70's.. I mentioned to him just before digging "this most likely is going to be something good". LOL.. Was such an awesome experience. Thanks for checking the video out.
Another excellent video! You do such great editing and always have a blast out there. Good luck in the competition!
WOW, AN AWESOME DAY. GREAT VIDEO.
Thanks.. it was a short evening hunt but turned out so awesome. Thank you for checking the video out.
Thanks for checking out the video.
great video, beauty shot under the trees looking up at the canopy, glad you petted the little guy
1939 d or s nickel has some value, but one dug, don't know
i've hammered clad coins flat and spent them
Thank you and glad you enjoyed coming on the hunt.
Another great video. Insane that the land owner found a largie on his first hole!can you imagine. 😎
Thank you. :) Yes, I though the same thing when I saw it sticking out of the plug. It took me about three years before I hit my first one so making this his first dig was totally awesome. Thanks for checking out the video.
Another fun hunt with the nox, congrats on the silver. 👍
Thank you. I'm having an awesome time with this machine.. so glad I finally got one. Thank you for the congrats and for checking out the video.
nice finds, you better beat that place up while you have the chance, GL & HH
Congrats on the Kennedy's 👍😀
Turned out great. I always get worried when introducing someone to detecting because success in the finds means quite a bit dealing with interest of the hobby. I think he is hooked now. :) but even if he didn't get the half the interest would still be there. He enjoys history quite a bit so the hobby fits him well. That's awesome on that many halves.. bet that was a blast uncover. I hope you find the other 20-30 halves out there that were missed in the possible seeded hunt. :) Thanks for watching and take care.
Nice digs!! Of course the land owner gets lucky lol
I love your videos keep digging
Great hunt
Thank you Charles, glad you came along on the hunt. :)
Great hunt and video!
Thank you.. I try my best with the videos. Makes all this worth it knowing folks enjoy what I'm doing.. thank you for watching.
Thank you for these vids!
Awesome finds and great video hh
Thank you... turned out to be a great hunt. Can't beat a short hunt with awesome finds. Thank you for checking out the video.
Great dig. Curious as to the set up on your camera (pole etc).
Camera was an iphone 7 and now it's an iphone XR. About two videos back was the transition because I smashed my phone at work. :(
Nice finds. Maybe you can try the small coil in the cellar before it gets torn down?
Great video I'm glad you got a new man in tnr hobby. Carl HH
Good hunt. GL&HH Matt
Thank you.. had a lot of fun on this one. Hope your out doing some digging as well.
Oh my, where has Mr Squirrel gone? Hoping that all is well for the Squirrel family.
Nice hunt Ken
Thank you.. turned up some cool finds and had a great time doing it. Hope all is well.. :)
Good dig, did you hook the land owner into the hobby? Congrats to him on the large cent. Enjoyed the video and as always Be Safe and HH.
Thank you.
9:04 Somebody was sharpshooter. This is bullet dent or just very similar. I dig some coins like that.
Could have been.. looked like a pliers clamp but could have sure been a bullet that crimped that coin. Thanks for checking out the video.
Hey love your videos with the NOX. Can you make a quick video of how to ground balance it. Keep up the great work and HH.
That 39' Jefferson nickel may be a key date coin if it is a Denver mint
Thanks for the heads up.. I will take another look at it to see if the D mint shows up. Wish I knew all these key dates better.. thank you for watching as well as commenting.
GL SNS!
Than you Greg.. I hope to be back out this weekend to detect a new house out in the country.. hopefully get into some great finds. Thanks for checking the video out.
Hello again
I have another question -
Firstly, I have watched 100’s of Detecting videos of all kinds and your’s is the most informative and logical so I am seeking some advice
I really am ready to upgrade from my Bounty Hunter Tracker 4
I have narrowed it down to the AT Pro, The Minelab Equinox 600 and the Minelab Equinox 800...
Would you have any advice for me?
This will be an important investment for me so I want to choose wisely
Thank you!
Square Nail Squirrel thank you
This is great information!
I appreciate your response
Thanks
Hi from Australia........I just bought an Equinox 600.......was just wondering with all your detectors how and where do you store them?
Take care.
Squirrels hibernate for the winter right?
What video recording equipment are you using Kenny?
Silver quarters are awesome! They're worth close to 3 dollars just in silver value now.
What part of Kentucky are you in?
where have you been? No new videos?
Love how you work
Learning a lot!
Question: have you ever experienced your returned plugs turning brown? I have had a few instances where the homeowners were not too pleased a few weeks after I detected....
I was being very careful and meticulous
I just don’t want to worry about this every time i get a permission
Any suggestions?

Square Nail Squirrel this is excellent advice and encouraging! I can now proceed! But not today
Forecast of 100 degrees and no rain for 2 days
I really appreciate your help
Keep on hunting and take care
Square Nail Squirrel this is excellent advice - I really appreciate it! Makes sense!
Thanks!
IS the Land Owner hook on metal Detecting
I believe so. I went by his house last night to return his large cent and the other coins that I found. He mentioned that he had a great time and really enjoyed the experience.. already talking about asking a neighbor to detect their house. I offered up the Sport anytime he wants to go to borrow until he gets a unit of his own. Great hobby and glad he join in on the hunt.
Seems you’ve seen the light and abandoned Whites products. Lol
Great! Looking forward to it!
Hello SNS,! Giant fan here. I have been trying to get some info on your finds pouch? It’s awesome. Any help.
I wonder where or what is wrong with square nail squirrel???🤷🏽♂️
How much better is the 800 from the 600 Equinox?
Why would they tear that house down!!!!!!!! NOooooooooooooooo.............
I know. It's a cryin shame 😢
Hopefully the information helps out. The availability of info varies from place to place. Good luck with your hunts. 👍🏻
Recommended by Liz Digging Canuck for the great videos and production. She is right!
very good finds and good video once again. Take care and keep it up. if you ever get to destin fl hit me up and we can beach hung :) HH
Thank you.. this hunt turned out to be short but sweet one. :) I typically don't get to Florida much but a beach hunt would be great change up.. thank you for the offer and next year when I make plans to go out and hunt with viewers.. maybe we can work something out. Thank you for checking out the video and take care.
You got some cool stuff largee a hunt would not be a hunt with out a pull tab or a square nail LOL
The hunt turned out great with some awesome finds. Haha!! For sure on the tabs and square nails... I still don’t mind digging the square nails. Lol.
Do you ever worry about digging into someone’s sprinkler system?
Modern detectors let you know size and give a pretty good idea of depth so you can avoid those pretty easily.
Another good video. I enjoyed following along. I have a Sticker for ya if you PM me a mailing address.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. I’ll try to PM you (this will be my first attempt on TH-cam) and get in touch about the decal... if any shipping costs let me know so I can cover off on it. There’s still good space on the machine to place your decal and i’ll Do my best to present it well.
You should sell him the MX Sport and give him his coin...just saying !!!! LOL
Haha. I’m actually selling the V3i currently and keeping the MX Sport. The large cent I brought home to clean up for him and i’ll be passing it back to him as well as the silver quarter next time I get out to the site. Thanks for checking out the video.
Please stop using the toothbrush! Get yourself a small perfume type spray bottle and use water to blast the dirt off with a couple of sprays
I have a spray bottle and it's in my side pouch, water tends to destroy anything that's not silver so I don't use it unless the item is silver/gold.
