@@michaelhunter2742 Nope, below the 10 minute mark. Three re-edits later and they're still blocking it, I just have to wait on the dispute now. It's feeling similar to "Father's Day", no matter what I did with that one, they blocked it every time.

What I enjoy about the episode is that it involves the viewer. There are many times when the angels had the opportunity to zap Sally because she want looking (for example when she grabs the key) but they don't move because the audience are watching them. I just find that really cool!

Great reaction and discussion as always! Blink is one of my favourite Doctor Who episodes because it's just so clever: plot progression, the Weeping Angels, the music, the doctor's message on the TV - all the elements work together so well! Interestingly, the Weeping Angels, even though the characters aren't looking at them, they still don't move because the audience is looking at them. I love that bit of fourth-wall-breaking!

When this episode released I was 13 and it just scared me whenever I saw a statue.

The writing in this episode was 'Dr Who' at it's very best.
"It's the same rain." is such a powerful line - my favourite.
This should have been the template for the show moving forward: good intelligent drama infused with tension and thought-provoking Sci-fi. Scary as it should be.

This is the first episode I watched of Doctor Who that scared the shit of out me. I was 11 at the time (I'm 22 now) and couldn't sleep for days. Even when I revisit this episode, I can't watch it at night. That conversation between Sally and the Doctor SCARED ME. But to this day, it's still one of my favourite episodes.

Steven Moffat was the show runner of series 5-10 and he was the show runner of Sherlock as well.
I think the last scene of the episode was there to scare the kids in the audience in their daily lives. It's a family show after all. ^^
This is quite an iconic episode and the "Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey" quote is often used in the fandom.
I remember feeling scared when I first watched it, but it's less scary during a rewatch.

In your discussion you mentioned the time loop, and trying to work out where it starts and what triggers it. That's called a bootstrap paradox. @@matthewbibby8921 fair enough, we will have to disagree as I thought the writing just "ok".. also my point was that Moffat is a better writer under another showrunner... whether we like heaven sent or hell bent, it's not just the writing, its the whole package... I'm sure youd agree, if moffat had written those two episodes whilst RTD was still showrunner, the look and feel would have been very different.. I find moffats writing a little unrealistic and cold and I sort of prefer the characters and character development RTD creates, and so when Moffat wrote for RTD, for me, it sort of worked. When moffat wrote under his own stewardship, he was un tempered and the show lost a lot of its warmth and realism for me..

You kinda hit the nail on the head - in my opinion the best episodes of doctor who are those which are barely focused on the doctor (or like in this case absolutely not focused). Now don´t get me wrong. I love the doctor as a character and I am interested in his past. But imo the strongest plot points are those where it´s not "all about the doctor". The first series did this pretty well and I love them, but later on it all had this red threat throughout the series and I constantly was reminded that it was all about the doctor and at some point I really struggled to follow lol. I stopped watching after s7. Maybe I have to start again. This review was very entertaining btw
