      My question is :Madam has explained the question type such as :
      When did you get engaged ?/married/divorced.
      Bro i think when we ask the past tense question ,we should add the present verb For eg :when did you get engage? /marry/divorce.

    Wonderful!! great way to explain..You reminded me a lot of topics that I have studied while you were speaking, for example: The uses of "don't" before always insted of saying putting it after the frequency abverbs like we can do with the others. The word "whereas" which is very useful to compare things and an important way to start talking like " Let's start by talking about" Thanksssssssssss

  • @phinie1487

    I appreciate your explanation. (And please correct me if I'm wrong) The question and it's answer are in present perfect continuous and not present perfect like have you ever wondered... where present perfect tense does not tell a specific time of the action.

    When did you get engaged? Is it right? I mean should I put -ed to that verb? Because we have did already which means that this time is already about the past, so why should I add -ed ? can I say "When did you get engage?"

    • @bencenagy1923
      @bencenagy1923 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you can't. If you 'get' or 'become' something, you need to use the third form of the verb (past participle) to emphasize that it's a status, a condition. You can say "When did you engage?" but it's not that accurate and almost meaningless.

    I know that the first one is in the present perfect and the second one is in the simple past..
    But ,can you elaborate more & give example of situations to distinguish these two?
    Can you make a video particularly for this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Laura, means the period time until now, today... like I've been in Toronto since november or for 3 months .... You continuous live there, because if you don't live more you need use PAST SIMPLE because the action finished. ... Negative answer use the past simple I lived in Toronto in 2012 .... or 3 years ago... or 4 months ago...
    good luck ! ;)
