You're pretty much spot on with the meaning.
So this song is part of the latest album 'I Love' which was inspired by Marlyn Monroe and how she was marketed and viewed as a "dumb blonde" and only for her looks. But in reality, she was quite book smart.
Soyeon (leader and who did the rapping) actually came up with this concept and did a PowerPoint presentation in a company meeting. The main message she wants the song and album to portray is "I'd rather be hated for being myself than to be loved as someone I'm not". she even helped each member record their parts in this song.
The member you were thinking of was Soojin who did leave the group about 2 years ago due to a messy situation involving a former high school classmate accusing her of bullying. TLDR; the case was closed with "no side winning". However from what was disclosed and how both sides behaved throughout the situation, it was pointing towards Soojin being mostly innocent (I believe the accuser did state that she actually doesn't remember if soojin was part of the group that bullied her). However she did leave anyway as to not further tarnish the groups image IIRC. Yeah.... It was quite a stressful time.
Marlyn Monroe was Soojin's role model so in a sense, GIdle has been keeping Soojin's presence alive. This comeback was also the first time Shuhua bleached/dyed her hair because she never wanted to do it prior; but she did it anyway for the concept.

Yes, and when Minnie heard that Shuhua was going to dye her hair, she cried. Because she knew how important her hair was to her. And when I found out about it I cried too.

If you listen to the "I love" album (of which Nxde is the title track) then you can see how it takes the theme I described in my other post and stretches it out over the entire album. Per Soyeon's instructions, the songs of "I love" should be listened to in reverse order. Doing so, we start with "Dark, X-file" which I believe to be a song about the dark place that the group was in after the loss of Soojin due to public pressure... she is the x-file that must be erased. The girls weren't allowed to mention Soojin and she was even omitted or obscured from a music video that had already been made prior to it's release. (note: In the 2 albums that have been released since the loss of Soojin we can see both subtle and obvious references that are made to Soojin. The company policy may be that Soojin no longer exists, but Soyeon is the primary creative force behind the group and she does as she likes. It's not-so-secret that the animated woman in the video is Soojin.) The next song "Sculpture" is about how idols mold and shape their bodies and persona's into what the public demands in order to be loved. As the album progresses toward the title track, the song themes gradually move away from seeking love and admiration from outside themselves (which is ultimately futile) into the realization that we should simply love ourselves for who we are.

Fandom name is Neverland. A magical place (Peter Pan) where everyone can stay young forever. (G)I-dle roughly translates to Yeoja Aideul or "young girls, one and together". Soyeon also intended that Korean web searches for "young girls nude" would direct to this video instead of the obvious search result. Pornography is blocked in South Korea but pervy secret upskirt videos and photos could be found by keyword searching "Nude". Reportedly Soyeons plan has been at least partially successful.

My (entirely personal) interpretation of this song and video isn't only the industry attitude toward kpop idols (whether male of female) but also societies attitudes toward them. These people live under a microscope. They are constantly judged as too fat, too skinny, not good enough at a skill or too good and hogging the spotlight. They are mostly expected to look beautiful and dance and sing. I feel that the chorus of "How do I look?", "put on my beautiful self and dda da ta ta da" (do their little dance) is mocking what the audience wants from them. For this song "Nude", they sing about stripping away the "costume" of expectations and just being their authentic "Nude" selves.

    Thanks for the reaction
Look for Genius Korea articles on this song, you'll get a better understanding
To sum up, the song is about:
    - breaking prejudices against the word nude may means, not everything is about our dirty mind
    - be their bare self/true self even if they are not loved anymore (rather hated for who they are than loved for someone entertainment industry made them to be)
    - show awareness against overs*xualisation idols/entertainment people undergo by the public eyes

You might’ve confused Shuhua for Soojin since they were rly close before Soojin got kicked out and to this day fans(Neverlands) still talk abt their relationship with each other so yeah.

After BLACKPINK this G-IDLE group is the most innovative and avant-garde, while TWICE is in decline G-IDLE every year positions itself more as the second largest kpop girl group after BLACKPINK, I recommend these GIDLE songs are spectacular:
    - OH MY GOD
    - HANN
    - SEÑORITA
    - LION
    - UH OH
