Bury the Light (Vergils theme) from Devil may cry 5. It's a game, but the song is an absolute banger and very good for the algorithm too. People look up reactions to it a lot. Perfect for metal Monday, and the lyrics are so full of clues to his story throughout the series. It would be interesting to see how close you can get with your analytical eye.
The sexualization of women is not only in the industry, it is the daily life of all women in the world. That's why this song resonates in a different and important way.
My man reached the first hook and realised and understood more of the message then those who shitted on the song for it not having a message. Yet you, Knox a true genius understood it in like less than 3 minutes
Knox always looks at the deeper meaning of the songs he reacts to, i'd be surprised if he didnt get it. Just shows what a person with no bias would see when listening to the song
@@novascape128 thats what I like bout his reactions, would love to see more (G)I-DLE and maybe even some of the b-sides but I feel like that might be asking for a lot, either way happy he's reacted to them in the past and now
Maybe, just maybe, those people who said this song had no meaning has some problem with their ability to understand things? Bcs this song doesn't even use difficult metaphors at all. And if they were really bad at understanding things, the last chorus at the end literally concludes the message in a really direct way. 😂 so idk if they rly have skill issue or just ignorantly hating.
The album that this song is part of 'I LOVE' has many inspirations from Marlyn Monroe. Soyeon actually had a powerpoint presentation that she showed in a company meeting about the concept. The message she wanted the album to give is 'I rather be hated for being who I am rather than loved for who I’m not'. IIRC the company was more against this concept.
Doyen also wrote the song title about how many Korean men and men in general watch child porn or whatever it’s called so that when they look up child pornography the song vid and the performances of the song show up instead
at the end, what I truly love is the direct translation of the lyrics. Instead of "I am born nude, you've got a dirty mind", what they really said was "I am born nude, the pervert is you". Not only did they rhyme in two different languages, but that last statement is just so strong and self-assured, the victim is and will never be the problem, society is.
This song is so deep I love it so much. The message is so important and it's so rare in kpop to see such open statements which makes it even more special. Another fact about this song is that the title 'Nxde' also serves as a way to prevent people from looking up children's indecent images or videos. When writing (G)-Idle in korean the word Idle is written 아이들, which means children, so when people type '아이들 (children) nxde' they find their song and content. And it has been proven that it actually worked. Soyeon really is a genius and not only musically.
It's also for when they search up "female idol" (which (G)-Idle's korean group name translates to), and they add nude, which of course means they're searching for indecent content about female idols. So I believe this title also strives to protect those other female idols out there who are overtly sexualized and defamed through countless videos and posts showcasing "nude" content.
Idle means I-dle which stands for I in english and dle plurality suffix in korean and stands for 5 different individuals that come together to form a union!!! ITS A WORD PLAY!!!!
@@bangtanboysbeforehoes Not sure if you're being sarcastic or sincere. It's probably fairly common knowledge in kpop fandom, but nobody ever knows everything, so worth mentioning.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but it just occurred to me when you talked about "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" that they all went entirely blond for this MV! In Tomboy, released a few weeks prior to Nxde, some had completely black hair and only 2 were blonde! I think this may be on purpose!
i love the way you always dissect the meanings behind the songs accurately and understood the metaphors and sarcasm in their lyrics! my favourite person to watch in regards to reacting to these kpop songs!
This was definitely the best and most complete analysis of the song I’ve heard in a reaction. I’m continuously impressed by Knox Hill’s lyrical analysis. Plus he noted the production quality. Seriously, so good.
so refreshing seeing someone actually read the lyrics and understand the concept of this music video. i watched a guy misunderstood the concept and lowkey got me mad
Nxde was such a beautiful and amazing concept i year up every time i watch this video. it’s so real and amazing, not to mention my favorite part is they changed the fan chant for their live stages of nxde to a bunch of boos towards the end of the song to add to the mood of “upset audience”
The opening scene with Minnie in pink and with all the guys mirrors a scene from Gentleman Love Blonds with Marilyn Monroe. The scene is most famous for when she sings Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friends
Not sure if anyone’s said this yet, but a former member of G IDLE lived Marilyn, so they did this in honor of her. And some fans speculate that member will return even..
In korean, yeppuda means pretty, and yeppi yeppi is the slang way of saying yeppuda, so when minnie says "my name is yeppi yeppi" it has a depper meaning that only people who speak or are familiar with korean can understand
You earned yourself a new subscriber here for attempting to dissect the meanings behind the lyrics and images in the MV. I’m kinda tired of other reactors who just praise the songs for being catchy and having impressive visuals, so sad. Soyeon’s songs are always more than just being catchy and upbeat. You’re like a refreshing breeze, I appreciate you a lot Knox 🥰
If you look closely at the book the cartoon girl (some think it’s a cartoon of Soojin) is holding while Soyeon is rapping about philosophy, it’s Leaves of Grass which was a poetry collection by Walt Whitman and was very controversial at the time because of it being sexually explicit. Also I don’t remember if it was Soyeon but a female kpop idol got massive hate for reading a feminist novel while a male idol got lots of love for reading a feminist novel.
Irene from red velvet-got massive hate, fans were attacking here, burning her things, ripping her photocards merches and throwing it away. Rm read the feminist book-got a lot of love and got praised for learning on woman rights.
Yes, (G)-IDLE's song Nxde is based and inspired by Marilyn Monroe. There are a lot of things I've picked up from their style that looks identical to Marilyn's. Like in the beginning, the girl with the pink velvet dress is Minnie and that looks very much like Marilyn's pink dress in "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. And same with what you mentioned of the white dress that rode up in the wind and the blond hair styled that way is also inspired. The whole style and concept of this video is of course the meaning that Soyeon wanted to portray while using Marilyn Monroe's experience as well. I also heard this concept was also done for Soojin (the member that was unfortunately kicked out, but was proven innocent) because she loved Marilyn Monroe and it's believed that the little animated woman in blond with the mole/mark under her eye is believed to be Soojin because she had a mark under her eye in that same spot. But yeah very cool concept overall and the message is amazing!
This group actually has six members, not five, but the sixth girl was kicked out on a false and fake charge that she is a bully and she used to love Marilyn Monroe. They support their oppressed friend by putting on Marilyn vibes . Now this member is a soloist and her name is Soojin. I hope you react to her songs
Doesnt have a video but you should do "Villain Dies" its a nasty banger from them with sick flows and beats in the beginning. I bump that S loud AF in the truck. Also "Dark- Xfile' is really good with a short teaser video thats steamy as can be.
there is also a thing saying the word ‘nxde’ was used a lot to share not so good things of underaged ppl and soyeon wanted to obliterate that and made this song to make searching for it impossible with her song. ✊🏻 soyeon for the win

Marilyns life was extravagant but so tragic. When most people talk about her it’s for her acting and because she was a so called “sex symbol”. She was so sexualized and she was constantly underpaid, she wasn’t even respected after she died as (CONTENT WARNING) paparazzi stormed her house before the police could move her (nxde) body taking photos with it... Sorry for the rant, I just love this song so much.

@@romeonantenaina2067 be sure I'll give it a listen thanks mains
I'm here for it.
i just noticed they shred the art at the end like banksy 9:09 did at an action right after it his art was bid and won for millions. not sure how that fits in if someone has a clue
You've got to react to NewJeans "OMG" and "Ditto A/B side", the official MVs each.
New Jeans “OMG”
People don't appreciate it because there's only few of us who's more interested in the meaning
best reaction ever❤
I'm still unhappy with the english subtitle for the last part of the song, "I'm born nude, you got a dirty mind" didnt hit the same as the korean lyrics, it's more like "I'm born nude, the pervert one is you."
