    Šiauliai is 4th biggest city in that small country like Lithuania. It's not even tourist city at all. So that was not the best option for you. You should visit Vilnius, Kaunas or at least port city Klaipėda. Probably you would like it more and have clear impression about Lithuania:) Good luck!

    • @dmitrij2325
      @dmitrij2325 7 ปีที่แล้ว +71

      Nerijus Staponas Can't agree with you more, Śiauliai seems like one of the dullest Lithuanian cities in my opinion. I was born in Klaipėda and even tho the city is small it still is a very beautiful city + the baltic sea is just amazing

    • @SextonSounds
      @SextonSounds 7 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      what is wrong with you people? Not every city is Bombay or Tokyo by population, yet there are countries with capitals smaller than Šiauliai. It's not about quantity, it's about quality. Everything is relative. There are many truly large but boring places, just like there are plenty of relatively small (but maybe big in their respective country) cities with lots of things to see and to do. Maybe Šiauliai is not that touristy, but places like Palanga, Tartu in Estonia or especially Liepāja in Latvia are great examples of big city life without huge traffic jams and millions of people.

Lietuva yra kaimai ir miesteliai, Šiauliai geriausiai atspindi didžiaja dalį Lietuvos. Nors šiaip smagiausia yra Kaune ir Klaipedoi, bet jokiu budu ne Vilnius.

    I am from šiauliai i love that you visited my town but there is much more to see next time come for a longer stay. I recommed to see Vilnius the capital, Druskiningai its very beautiful and has lots of lovely Spa, also visit the coast Palanga Klaipėda, Nida i hope you'll love our beaches. And if you'll visit Šiauliai again there are few more sites you can visit. like the villa of Frenkelis and golden boy statue it is not as grand as sights in Vilnius but Šiauliai was destroyed a lot durring WW II so that is why there is not much here also next time go to the candy factory called Rūta it makes amazing sweets

    Hey guys! Really good quality videos! This was so insane-you filmed the building i grew up in this city! I must admit that this wasn't the best choice for touring Lithuania. The environment really does
    resemble the "era of great depression", especially in this city. I totally understand your disappointment! Hopefully, if you ever decide to visit the Baltics again, when we have hot Summers (which we do lol), you'll visit the capital city and the seaside region which is breathtaking! However, i am giving a thumbs up! ;)

    There was nothing wrong with their destination. I find the best places those that have no tourists because you get to see the real country - the real ordinary people and their lives on an ordinary day. I think it was a good choice. If you ever make back to the Baltic countries, visit the capital and Trakai. White sand dunes is another good choice but not always convenient to get to if visiting for a short period of time.

    • @MA-on9dy
      @MA-on9dy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Viltė Malinauskaitė Well it depends on what people are looking for. Klaipėda, Kuršių Nerija, Palanga and Ignalina are the more nature type snd other cities are some other type. It depends of the persons taste. You may like Kaunas they may like Vilnius. Personally I like:
      1. Klaipėda, Kuršių Nerija, Ignalina, Vilnius ( they share 1st place for me )
      2. Šiauliai, Druskininkai, Birštonas ( 2nd place all )
      3. Other
      But if we are talking about Vilnius, Kaunas I like Vilnius more. ( Personally )

    • @mrkitty1997
      @mrkitty1997 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      hmmmmm.. Well.. Siauliai is the 4th largest city in Lithuania, so it's equivalent to Huston. If your 4th largest city is a ''shithole'' ,I can't imagine your largest city being that much better. (and by the way, Vilnius was built by poles and jews,hence northen Jerusalem ^.^ )

    • @vidmantasb5993
      @vidmantasb5993 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      That comparison is just flat out stupid, look at how many cities there are in US and then in Lithuania. Also Vilnius gets pretty much all the country's money, while the rest are just left to themselves to slowly decay, so there's a pretty major difference between Siauliai and Vilnius, it matters very little who the hell lived there a 200 years ago

Also wished you could show the church as I wanted to show my mom in Texas where my children were baptized :D But it's ok she will see her city and the Hill of Crosses.
    I live in Norway for the last 12 years, but plan to move there on the next years, beautiful language, culture and food. Most of the people is lovely once you get to know them well.
    Next time you are there, try to visit the Trakai Castle and Palanga as well, on the last it's a Amber Museum and a beautiful beach with has a very long extension and thin sand. Amazing on summer!
    Good luck on your future trips :)

    Regarding the cold weather for September, I just checked my world atlas, and in Estonia, you're as far north as Juneau, AK, and even in the UK, you're at the same latitude as Churchill, Manitoba, Canada--the polar bear town on Hudson Bay. The only thing that keeps northern Europe from being a frozen wasteland is the ocean currents.

    If you ever go back here's a little advice - the best month to go is June cause due to climate change it is really hot wich is rare in Lithuania and usually in June we have the best weather. Siauliai is like one of the dullest part of Lithuania - I'd say it is MUCH better to visit either kaunas, palanga, vilnius, klaipeda. Also there wasn't many people because august is when school starts and it's usually when it also gets cold.

You can have the best subject matter and all of the fancy equipment known to mankind, but if you don't have the ability to put it all together the end result can be mediocre. Lil' Pliosaur fun fact most many of 'Poles' in Lithuania are Lithuanians who got Polonized after living under Polish occupation. Guess they thought by pretending to be Poles they would be treated better and they remained so for generations now. That is why they can't even speak proper Polish. Only of mixture of Polish and Russian. And they are most vocal parts of 'minorities' here too.

    Anyway , glad that you got to taste - kepta duona (fried bread) & bulviniai blynai (potatoe pancake) 👍 these are definitely some of Lithuanian treasures 🤗

    I'll tell you a secret about my country Lithuania. We do have the main citys, they are preaty, they are easily accsesable, and are most turisty spots out there...
    what you dont know, that we Lithuanians, mostly pride ourselves with our nature. So if you have a campervan, i suggest you waste some fuel, and drive around less populated roads, to the smaller 'villages'. Trust me, you'll feel like your in modern-medieval country. it's a strange feeling, but very much unique.
    We dont have mountains, but we have beutifull nature, that we try to pride ourselves with.

    Lithuania has much more to offer than this trashy hill... it is a pity that you did not see more of the country, only one random nearest city.
    the landscape is flat
    in the northern and central part of Lithuania because the glacier formed it 11 K years ago. and the last ice age glacier ended in southeastern Lithuania around our capital Vilnius, so it is nice to see how the landscape changes as you travel through the country.

    Sorry but this is quite a terrible video. you literally showed nothing about Lithuania. why you even said Lithuania in the title?

      10000% agree with you. I feel this is how these people are visiting everything else, just to say they were there, when in fact they saw literally nothing. Its the same as when you transit through a country, you say you visited it. lol
