- Welcome to my first edited and animated video. We go through some of the cheats I've written for Maplestory over the past ~10 years! This was the closing keynote for the SSTIC conference in France, and I'm super excited to talk a higher level in a nice edited video about MapleStory cheats! I even animated it! I hope you enjoy it!

As someone who played Maplestory throughout my entire childhood this was hilarious to watch. great work on the animations and you sir have some impressive skills!
once i randomly found npc that would crash you and do a 15 second rollback on your char. i used it to dupe ez. At the end i reported the bug to the server owner and was rewarded with a ban.

This is absolutely amazing. I did much of the same process with another game. Gained a lot of invaluable knowledge and experience.
No destructive actions, only did what anti cheat and server logic 'allowed' haha. Awesome vídeo, we would like to see more game hacking content here
Personally.. i think you should've kept hacking it. those bastards at nexon got stupid greedy, and p2w the shit out of the game.. even if they attempted to alleviate it with some sort of f2p measures.. the damage has already been done.. i used to love the pqs.. but now it's just grind grind city.. there's no point in playing it anymore.

Very interesting. Would you ever consider making courses? I would love to know more about this kind of stuff. Not really just hacking but everything you’ve mentioned. I really do not have an interest in hacking games, I just would really love to learn. Just would love to learn more about reserve engining. What is your advice to learn? Thank you!

I know it may not be your wheelhouse, but it’d be interesting to see you talk about how they reversed the game back in OdinMS. I was young and dumb (still am dumb), but I think they took advantage of MS doing a lot of stuff client side to sniff all the packets and building a server to handle them. I’ve always been interested in that and this video was fascinating. Anyway, cheers!

How did you find out that the client doesn't send logs to the MapleStory server if the damage is not multiplied by 1.5? Even with reverse engineering, you can't see the code, can you?

the one hack i always wanted in maplestory is a scroll hack and make 10% scrolls work 100% of the time.
That's my most recent cheat on a server! Found a way to discover the RNG internal state of the server and used that to advance it until scrolling an item. Was able to hit 7 10%s no problem!

I really enjoyed this video, some of my fondest memories of this game were hacking, started playing around v.28 & started hacking soon after my brother showed me CE's forum. Waking up before school in 6th grade & setting up a Spearman at Chronos in Ludi with DEMI Vac + whichever godmode had the lowest autoban rate out of the 10 different variants we had available, coming home to 2-3 levels and 15 defame lol. Nodelay PG hack in v.54/55 for the couple days it went unpatched and heavily abused by many got me my first level 1xx. I stopped hacking MS whenever the cheats started going towards .wz edits & subscription based trainers but spent a few years having so much fun. BTW Does anybody remember xenon trainer? Sometime between v.40-v.60 It was one of the first trainers that I can remember being released with a subscription model and had a HWID 24hr trial built into it, I think it mightve been the only trainer with a non-instant autoban vac for a few weeks on its release.

One day while in Sleepywood, I saw a guy hacking. This was V33 and this was my second time encountering a hacker. I took his name down and everyday messaged him asking him to teach me. One day he replied and told me to meet him at sleepywood. I was a lv 32 Bandit with a Panlid I found some how, the account was the highest level I'd reached.
I start to talk with this stranger and he immediately stops me and says I need to using Whisper or else GM's can see I'm on the map from the chat box and ban me. Then he proceeded to give me an address to put into Cheat Engine and a Value to change it to. Then we CC. All of a sudden Im on top of Sleepywood Dungeon on a section of the map that had Platforms but NO ONE could have every gone to, IT was outside the mini-map's view. I was blown away!!! and 1 second later my screen went blank. I was perma banned which means a GM saw us. The stranger was right, I should have used Whisper. I got us both banned. Looking back at that, It was my first lesson in hacking and it was on my first day. I was HOOKED. From that day forward I went on until v90 to create many known Hack Trainers on GameKiller and thanks to MapleStory and I guess curiosity, I was proficient in C++, and ASM all by the time I was 16.

Well, you've become the God that I always day-dream about becoming in the past.
Interesting to see another who got into programming because of maple! MapleStory private servers got me into writing code at a young age and put me into my career today as a software engineer.

What's your typical salary for an Application Security Engineer?
Depends on where he works. Based on his skillset, I'm guessing around 200k/year. I work in the industry and have a decent estimate on the matter.
There are people far more skilled than him, and the salaries climb over 1mil/year for those who are good enough.

Hmm, I don't want to go into too many details, I have a few other videos where I actually wrote some of these on stream if you want to see the process for at least injection-style cheats.
Dude hell yeah. I've been hacking single player games since a very young age, it never ceases to amaze me all the crazy creative things you can do. I especially like randomizers for loot drops/enemies, camera hacks to explore worlds and secrets, and other stuff too.
Are you able to share your findings now? Trying to get Cheat Engine to work and cant find a decent bypass

I was messing around with the HeavenMS open source client earlier this year and was thinking: "wow someone could make some really nasty hacks with this...". Lo and behold something even better lol.

Many of the autoban thresholds boiled down to A) Quantity of gm's to police it live, B) Sanity of said GM's. Aggregious things, and player reports, always took priority, and the rest like a crit over 1.5x was for downtime extra checking. There could be so much going on for so few GM's that to target -all- activity would be absurd.

Thanks for this video. I've learned so much from your streams on twitch that I started messing with reverse engineering using Rust to make some freecams (which, they're not different from cheats), and man it has been a blast! loved the animations too!

I loved ms as a kid but erase the nostalgia. This game is honestly dog water. Mindlessly grinding hours on end. If it wasn’t for PQ’s it would be worst. Towards the end of my ms “career” I enjoyed collecting collectibles and doing DG’s lol
