Boeing 737 AutoPilot Panel (MCP) for MSFS2020, Prosim & PMDG

  • This design is a remake of the $38 DIY MCP. It's a newer, better version, taking full advantage of 3D printing. This is not an exact replica, but it is fully functional. The design has been modified for larger text, so it's easier to print with good quality clear and crisp text. Various components have been moved to allow easy fitment. All parts assemble easily and require no additional mounting hardware besides their attachment nuts and screws. Also, full 7219 boards are used, so the wiring is much easier!

    Loving the work that you do. You've really been helping us build better and more affordable simulators and I must thank you for that. I have only entered the 3D printing work recently and I am eager to get started on this. I might try doing a modification to your design in the future and incorporate a painted/engraved perspex faceplate that can be backlit. But it really looks brilliant as it is

      Hello Damon, Love that you are already thinking ahead! As this was the basic version, I kept it simple. It is now just a matter of time to create more complex versions. But if others are willing to create the next version, thats awesome!

    Brilliant design and execution! I love the fitment and layers of panels to create the mounting layers for everything. One suggestion; get a red gel/filter and put it over each of the 7-segment displays. it will drastically improve contrast and readability of the displays. :D Cheers!

    Inspired from your videos, Im just done with my "38 EUR" MCP. Was also about one year in the making, but I'm still on FSX PMDG 737. I designed my front and base plate out off PCB's then ordered them in china. It saved me all the mechanical work and a lot of wiring cause I soldert all the components in it. I had my issues by setting mobiflight up, but now everything works just as I want to. (except I can not program the speed display in mach)
    Thank you for those great videos, i enjoy them everytime. Regards from Germany to Brunei

      @@karlisk4 hallo, no for this I used eagle. And to be honest, I made some mistakes on the electrical design. But I could fix them with a few extra air wires. And don't daisy chain 5 led displays together, it won't work. I did split them in 3 now. The mechanical design however was a perfect fit 😀

I am not going to use them, because i am building an FCU for the A320. But your files and work in general is a big inspiration and good learning tool for me and others.

Thank you for all your effort. The only thing I haven't seen, that I think might help, is a rough estimate of how many KG of each colour I'd need for a model (unless I've missed it). We are up to the step where we need to solder the wires onto the prototype board. I noticed you soldered the wires onto the top pads. To connect the wires to the resisters, did you just create a bridge on the top between two pads or did you solder underneath to create a bridge? Thank you.

    Great layput and efforts
    question
    why not using a PCF8575 or similar ?
    that would make it a bit easier on the hardware when using the i2c 16x modules

    This video is absolutely fantastic. Informative and a great inspiration to all us sim enthusiast. Excellent job. I will definitely keep an eye on this channel and Your web site
    I do have a question though. The surface of the cabinet and the knobs seems very smooth. Is that the case when looking up close? And what 3D printer do you use?

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, I think that is down to the printer. I love the finish and quality of the print on the CR10. I would say it's smooth, but I do print slowly to try and improve the quality, especially if I need to film the build.
      Kind Regards Karl

      Hello, I think its a good easy build, just take it slowly and if its your first build and venture into soldering and electronics. Just start off with one switch and one led!

      @@helimech8152 tnx, for me it doesn't look easy hahaha. Gonna try a landing gear lever from your designs. Less components and less wiring.
      A collegue want to help me. Are there also face plates for the lever and the plate for the lights en what did you use for the lights ?
      one question if you don't mind, are you having also 3d printfiles and wiring programs for a radio stack and transponder ?

    Hey there!
    Really clever work, looking forward into creating one of my own by following your tutorials. However, I have one question:
    I was checking the latest EFIS you created and (to my understanding), the text on buttons come to life with the orange LED (????). How could I replicate something similar in the MCP instead of having white text under the buttons, but yes having text printed on the button?
    Many thanks!

    Hi Karl. Amazing designs and videos. I've just finished printing the face plates and they are superb. Next up will be the back plates, and in the interest of printing speed and filament consumption would you recommend a particular infill amount? My default is currently at 20, but I was wondering if you can get away with less infill. Any thoughts?

    • @helimech8152
      @helimech8152  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for the delay, i usually use the default settings which is around 15-20%. I would recommend sticking with those settings.

    Hi there, thanks for your amazing video and the 3d print files as well!
    I want to start making one myself now, but I was wondering, whether it is possible to export for example a specific plane or even multiple with mobi flight connector, and then import it into a 2nd one or third ? as that would make it less time consuming for me having to build already for 3 of my friends (incl. 1 for myself is 4).
    Even better yet, you mnight have made these available yet, but I simply cant find it on your website? :D
    Anyways, keep up the great work my friend.
    Love from Thailand

      If you are sim building, i would recommend the CR10 range, but they are all pretty good these days. Try to get one with a bed size of at least 300 x 300mm!
