Shout out to Jeep in Downtown Los Angeles. They were very thorough and followed protocol. Got my 4xe back yesterday after two days of detailed checks. Thanks for the video, always helpful.
I brought my Wrangler 4xe in yesterday 12/9/24 for the recall. I got it back today 12/10/24. I left a copy of the 95B instructions in the Jeep like you advised. The tech working on it was nice enough to make check marks on the instructions as he completed it and left in the jeep. I got it back around noon today. No issues found with the battery. I brought it in with less than 1% charge. The Jeep app notified my that my 4xe had been charged. When I got the Jeep back it had 21% left on the battery range indicator. So I am pretty confident that they did the test correctly.
Thanks for the great information Chris. Downloaded your Google 28 page documents concerning 95B. I took my jeep into the dealership service department today for a oil change. They were up to date on the 95B recall. They couldn't do it today. Not enough rentals to go around. I'm scheduled for January 2nd drop off and get rental. We thought best to have the holiday rush behind us and make the check on 2 January. They will keep the jeep about 3 days for this check. I'll have the 28 pages in the seat but I think they will do it correctly. I talked to the manager about this. If the battery fails the test then I'll get a new battery. They will keep the jeep two plus weeks for replacement. I'm hoping I get a new battery. Also need a new set of tires. So new tires...possible battery replacement and I'll be having surgery in January to replace my right knee. Wow...what a way to start 2025. New tires..new battery and new knee....Lol!!!😅😂😊 Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year!!!🎉
Thank you so much Chris!!! I am printing this now because my 4xe is going in tomorrow morning. I am going to do exactly what you are recommending. I'm not a happy camper when it comes to my Jeep dealership. I'll let you know what they say. Thanks, Pat
I just called my dealer - scheduled for early January. They said it takes 2 days (but did say I get a rental). They are a good dealer though, so I trust they will do the right thing.
21 4XE Rubi- Dropped jeep off yesterday morning for 95B recall, was ready today at 4:00 pm. My dealership advised they have completed 6 of the 95B recalls since Monday. Did not need a new battery. Battery was at 100% when picked up. Drove home 30 miles with no issues. We will know more after a few months as more 4XE's get updated. In my opinion all these batteries should be replaced.
@@Wrangler4XEFans Will let you know. I do not know if they did the drive test. Who knows. The tech did go over what was going to be done to include the drive test. Going out to my garage now to charge (after 9:00 pm- low elec rates). Will find out tomorrow if there is a CEL!
I printed an extra copy of just the drive cycle page. I also have a sticky note on the instruction pack with blanks for Mileage at drop off Mileage at pick up Charge at drop off Charge at pick up. Then two boxes to check after receiving the 2 WiTech screenshots.
What code reader do you use btw? I am looking at getting one given the potential issues with the 4xe’s. There are quite a few ones out there and just wondered which one you use.
Question about bad batteries - has Samsung changed the actual battery manufacturing such that this separator issue is no longer present in the batteries they are now supplying?
@@matthewberger5945 That’s the story I’ve heard. Supposedly, they changed manufacturers of the separator material months ago. I personally have not been able to confirm that.
This recall process is such a controversial one. It all depends on the tech who is performing the steps. If he is having a bad day or have too much of workload , chances are - you are coming out of the dealership with a Green signal that everything is alright. And start charging as before and then things get bad. In software industry, applying a diagnosis code to capture and log events is very common. But that doesn't typically expose any safety risk. Here we are talking about incorrect diagnosis that might lead to a life in danger. I will hold for few months till I get more info in the internet. Note- Jeep has a history of messing up with software uodates . They have released this update wiht a lot of pressure. Holidays are here so we would need our car for trips or other activities. If its not satisfactory fix, it does make sense to wait.
The dealer had to call in a Jeep engineer because mine wasn't telling them one way or another if the battery is bad. They're hoping to have it sorted out today, day 3
Apparently jeep told the dealer that the data from the current 95b patches was inconclusive for my battery. It's not bad and not good either... However keep also says I can go ahead and charge it. ...but "don't charge it inside". Theirs a patch in two weeks and I have to bring it back then
Thanks Chris, I have already had the 95B recall done but when I look up the status of my VIN on the recall site for Jeep, it shows incomplete. Do I take this in again? (it is a 2.5 hour drive to a Jeep dealership) Also, I have printed the forms off that you suggested, the cost of printing a few pages is pretty cheap compared to someone not doing the proper work, thanks and it was a great idea
Made appointment for January, because no loaner available until then, I have to bring it in fully charged, is anyone else being told this. Honestly my lease is up in January and tired of the misinformation From JEEP, and drop it off and be done with it
@@philipziccardy1479 They have to have it at 75% for the test. They are supposed to charge it on site but having it charged ahead of time saves them time.
Chris, I cannot thank you enough for all the support that you provide this community.
I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
Cheers

What to do if you think the dealership did not perform the drive test correctly or at all?

So is it all Jeep 4XE that have the recall? I put my Vin number in on Mopar‘s website. It says no recalls. I have a 24 Wrangler 4 XE.

As an ex dealer tech I would recommend not being in the first batch of people going in. Let the techs learn on other people's vehicles.

It's almost harder to go around the darn process than it is to just do it right. Makes no sense how we are seeing any deviation from the process.
