It's so insane to me that TH-cam wants to overload their server space EVEN MORE by rolling out junk like this. Every "entrepreneur" is going to be singing up bots that just churn out "content" for them. Nevermind how sad it is to see all these companies go full steam ahead on taking the human element out of art, and utilizing tools that have scraped art from the world's artists without permission, just so it could have some reasonable quality output. It's disgusting to see.
Yeah, everything you said is reasonable. The problem is that the people in charge at youtube care only about the shareholder perspective. They are going to take every chance they get to extract as much investment capital and short term profit as possible as long as the AI bandwagon has not yet barreled over the cliff.
If people watch it, there is no limit to the level of crap they will produce. Human made shorts are already absolute trash and people cannot consume enough of it. This enshittification of "content" will never end as long as people keep watching.
Having an AI respond to comments is like being a celebrity and having your assistant sign fan mail and respond to comments. It's actually worse because it's not only someone else, it's not even a human.
What I dont get is why they are so obsessed with generating the content itself instead of helping content creators organize their raw content into a cohesive video. As a noob content creater the biggest struggle for me is getting all the clips together, selecting the right music, making the right cuts at the right moment....essentially an editors job. Making suggestions for editing the raw content would be an enormous help for me, and I can still decide to go my own route and be as creative as I want. I dont need a generated video, I already have a video!
@@TW0man4RMY Sure, but driving 300 km/h is also faster than 50, yet driving 300 in a city isn't exactly healthy for anyone involved. Do they want the quick shot or the long run win? I thought these massive companies are all about the long term vision... A creator platform should enable the creators, not replace them with something generated that will degenerate in a blink as soon as that starts to happen...
"We believe in transparency, how many times do I need to prove that. Do I need to cut open a water bottle?" My brain immediatly went to... you should make a special edition water bottle with a transparent lid... lol
I swear they go out of their way to use the worst audio quality possible when one of them is remote. I realize hotel internet is absolute trash, but you can easily hot spot your phone and get more than enough bandwidth.
Luke should just look at what cars are most popular in The Netherlands where people are generally taller then look for those cars on the second hand market. I'm pretty tall and broad as well and there's plenty of cars here that fit me comfortably. That or replace the drivers seat, which is a reasonably simple undertaking.
I had the same thought. They should mute their own voice from the monitors also when they press mute. That way they would immediately notice it when they start to talk. At least producer's mic should go to other monitors except his own when muted, though.
No, not agree to disagree, just be wrong. Being able to see like and dislike, lets you see general sentiment. Removing either of those means the remaining data is next to meaningless and there's no other way for me to look at a video and see if people like it. If they'd put in some other way we could see how many people disliked e.g. 1,000 likes, 23% approval, that'd be a feature change. As it was, they concealed the data, and it's completely immoral to do so. Just like Netflix changing to thumbs up, and thumbs down, from five stars, and then later double thumbs up, to double thumbs down. So you can't see which shows you really liked, which ones were Reality TV or similar (so obviously, 1 star) and which ones were firmly in the middle where indifference lives.
Literally there are videos where there are no comments and no like to dislikes, how is anyone supposed to know if you are wasting your time with the video or not
I wanted to respond to Linus talking about smaller communities. Granted I'm the target ltt audience. 37, male, nerd, in tech. But I wanted to come in and say that the reason I come to ltt every day is because you have such a variety of things. You have introduced me to so much new tech I wouldn't have known existed. Do I have more specific channels? Yes. But I don't check those daily like I do the suite of ltt channels. I love you guys.
It would be "exactly" like Hollywood... Someone creates a hit movie .. and then you start getting sequels.. "Police Academy" comes to mind.... They repeat the "idea" at teh expense of creativity (new ideas) or "everyone else comes in with their take on the "new genre" (Harry Potter comes to mind.. )
It does not surprise me one bit that Dan dropped an immaculate Fifth Element reference in daily conversation. Still one of my favorite movies of all time.
yo the new lid is GOATed. easier cleaning is so huge and absolutely a problem that I've had with mine, very much looking forward to when these become available
Love The Wan Show and absolutely no front to Linus, but can we get a Dan and Luke segment every show. Because that was awesome and i do apprichiate Linus's view point on LTT, but Luke and Dan have a pretty different and interessting one. (because there not the company owners etc.) This comment is the partition for that :)
Linus’s rant about small creators actually makes sense. On Twitch I tend to not enjoy streamers with huge audiences. I enjoy streams with less than 200 viewers. Not for the parasocial aspect or establishing a “relationship”, but I enjoy what feels like a more informal setting where the streamer feels less constrained. It’s like watching a band in a gigantic auditorium vs a small coffee shop. You don’t expect the band to know who you are or remember your face, but the small setting just feels more impactful.
Happens to me all the time. It's literally the only thing I watch consistently on the same day every week. I'm usually at work or driving home from some ungodly area (field service) so I can't be like manually checking constantly.
@@chiefkeith5641 Huh? If you're subbed and sitting with the app open and someone goes live, you should absolutely get a notification at a minimum. Maybe even a little popup at the top of the UI saying X creator is live. What is the alternative that you would expect from the average person?
So that’s why I’ve been seeing so many ‘wow, isn’t nuclear power great?’ ads! Though I not only wouldn’t count TMI as IMBY, I ironically actually do have a different, very much active, nuclear power plant within immediate evac range.
The problem is that TH-cam has no enforcement of their ToS or moderation of content mills. Their thought that AI content won't replace human creativity is laughable since they have already failed with the slop that is popular TH-cam Shorts content. The lazier and more automated the content is the better it performs. AI voice, AI background, misinformation clickbait trivia = million views
I get served an AI video every now and then, and every time I do, I click the back button and select "don't recommend this channel". I'm seriously worried that I'm going to end up in a sea of low quality slop. The thing is, some of the voices are much better than others, it might be 30 seconds before you notice the voice is reading very evenly, or it stumbles over a certain word or name that gives it away. And it bothers me that eventually they'll figure that out too.
TH-cams new AI thing sounds like they use the creative people for their Reinforcement Learning. So basically they use them without payment to train the ML model in order to replace the human part at one time. So big win for TH-cam …
Dude I am sooooo excited for the cargo pants! I exclusively wear cargo pants from end of october to start of april for work (per uniform policy, cant wear shorts during that time) and wear them 90% of the time out of work when its not too hot. I've held off on buying my next pair specifically to get the LTT ones. Hopefully they come out in time for this cold season!
I believe that what people want is to connect, to find someone who understands them, find a group where you can be yourself, such as being a fan of tailor swift. To take part in it. And you don't have to be a big channel to provide for that, or use a huge set of tools or resources. All you really need to do is make it appealing, which is something a bunch of elect AI tools can help a lot. This means that TH-cam "changes" and new tools are in support of those small-ish creators, probably especially those creating "shorts" which currently trend like crazy.
I love that overpass channel. There is something so well suited for guys to watch trucks get their tops ripped off. You gotta remember there’s 8 billion people in the world a significant portion of people are into everything and then you have weird people that like a little bit of everything I literally watch power washing videos because they’re satisfying and lawn care videos
I just can't keep my mouth shut anymore. Both the next gen Xbox and Playstation are Linux based. This is because we need to homoganize the platforms for handhelds. It's been the loud secret for so long, but now it's happening. And it's going to be GOOOOOD for everyone.
The back and forward browser trick to avoid adds kinda works in the app too. Close the video and reopen it a new add plays, do this a few times to skip through all the adds
@@LoveToMix I turn 51 next month. I didn’t figure it out until I was 47. I was a “gifted” kid. Excelled in high school with the rigid structure and parental pressure. My head spins thinking about all I accomplished in a day back then. Adult life mostly swallowed me whole. Now that I have clues, it’s getting better, but surveying the wreckage of a life has been difficult. Just glad to have better tools now, and I don’t tear myself up about things as much anymore. Counseling has helped immensely. It is what it is.
Hey Linus! Last week you sounded pretty defeated, and it stood out to me that you were bummed out that other creators didnt work with you recently. Hearing your excitement about the youtube summit, and meeting other creators was so great to hear. You have been a big inspiration of mine. We are about the same age so I can relate to alot of the ups and downs you are feeling (on a much smaller scale), but you taught me how to build my first computer, and so much more. Keep driving forward. You and Luke rock, and I look forward to this every Friday. See you next week!
Re Badminton topic, I remember back when I used to play, I'd handy cap myself with training weights and a baseball cap so that I could play with new players. It made it a lot more fun than trying to play less good. Saying that, I'd avoid wrist weights, but the Rollerblade wrist guards would still work. :) Then playing someone good, removing the hat, and tossing the weights to the side of the court, felt awesome. "Oh boy, he's getting serious!"
I believe that the YT algorithm is actively pushing smaller creators. In the last month my home feed changed and I got introduced to a much smaller 50k and under creators on the topics I was subscribed to or watched. I think that they don't want to have large TH-camrs with a lot of power so they don't have to deal with them.
yeah i'm actually seeing people with like 5 followers again, and they're making things that I'm actually interested in. even if its primarily job search stuff.
1:08:00 community subtitles got axed as well. That is IMO what allowed japanese vtubers to explode the way they did during the golden age. A new kizuna ai video would drop and within an hour there would be a set of translated subtitles from a dedicated translated community.
There is only one 11foot8+ bridge. Years of classics, the rise that was meant to be the fall and the renaissance which I can only assume is a conspiracy of rental and insurance companies to pump the tires and raise the suspension.
TH-cam does a good job of putting smaller creators in my feed all the time. It's really nice being able to continue to expand my subscriber list and widen the relevant content that I'm interested in.
Remind me to NEVER watch the WAN Show after it is done (which is weird to say, because it would normally be LIVE RIGHT NOW), but the periodic interruptions every three to five minutes for garbage TH-cam ads in the middle of sentences is making me want to bash my head into a wall.
Sorry. Tapping out at 1:31:54 after like the thirtieth mid-sentence ad interruption. JUST UTTERLY AWFUL FOR MY ADHD. Painful, even. THREE TIMES DURING YOUR SPONSOR READ.
6 seconds is the max length of a single Cocomelon scene. It can be used to make horrific kids' content, and this idea scares me a bit. I already have seen a ton of music sleep/vibe videos that are hours long of looping visuals that are AI. It genuinely bothers me.
Hey LTT, Linus mentioned in this episode not wanting to support therapy companies in your sponsorship guidelines and also want to reflect that in the YT ads as well. I got ads for a therapy app multiple times throughout WAN this week. I might be misreading your intentions and know 1:1 is improbable but I thought you should know. Edit: I also got a weight loss supplement. I'll keep updating if I see anymore ads that LS might take interest in.
Yeah, honestly, this was pretty boring after about ten or fifteen minutes and they are still going on about it after well over an hour. I've been skipping forward a lot to try and get to the proper topics.
You could over a one time promo code for the store when someone signs up for float plane most likely if someone signs up for a year not a month. It could be a one time free shipping or some percent off. It would also be really cool if someone signs up for a higher tier and they get sent a free t-shirt. Maybe a float plane exclusive shirt. As a thank you for free but only if you sign up for floatplane. There are some twitch streamers that have it set up with their store and are subscribed on twitch if you order something and you get one free bonus item like a sticker pack or something it's only available for subscribers. Little things to make the community feel special but you also don't want to like you got to say manufacture waste. Thank you for another great wanshow! Love you guys! -jon
two things guys if I may: first - thanks to Luke I've heard the intro sound for the first time ever. thanks Luke. second - a pop-up green screen to have at hand for emergency broadcast such as this? or would it be the worst?
Linus, the reason you never see Last Week Tonight in your feed of any kind is because it is GEOBLOCKED from Canada. If you're subscribed to a channel you will never miss it in your subscription feed except in the case of geoblocking. Once in a while LWT will unblock a year of uploads from 5 or 6 years ago.
We already have people using AI to make videos , bot farms to add the views and bots to comment on the same video 😂 looks like it's time to ditch TH-cam .
I've bought LTT products in the past because you advertised something I already wanted and I know if I buy it from you guys I will get a quality product that ALSO supports creators I enjoy.
Rysen 9000 not being crazy high on sales makes sense though... Similar to the reasoning for not upgrading to the iphone 16 from the 15... Its a generational upgrade. I got my 7900x to upgrade from my i7 6700k thats how long i normally keep a device like a PC or a phone. Used a note 8 until it broke and i got a redmagic 8 pro Once i have a good setup im pretty much good to go for s few years so many of the peolle that invested in ryzen 5000 there isnt enough of a leap to fully justify an upgrade costing more than slotting in a 5800x3d yet for most commonly played games. Starfield plays perfectly fine on ryzen 5000 sounds like AMD is suffering from success of their chips and how well AMD also has supported their platforms the second hand market is flush with AMD CPU and mobo combos on ebay. Its reasonable to assume someone on a budget would head to ebay for a second hand mobo and a ryzen 3000 chip to later upgrade to ryzen 5000 for super cheap and still be competetive with modern systems on an x370 motherboard
Speaking of promoting things that aren't actually good, I really have a beef with the continued thorum sponsor, just look a little closer at the product and compare it to items you can get on Ali (it's literally the same stuff... Like they are just marking them up
Honestly, I like the fact that LTT has all these personalities that bring diverse opinions and qualifications to the table. Stuff like Tech quickie, Tech linked, and Luke constantly questioning Linus on WAN show are really the secret to their success. The variety of content on LTT is why they are so successful.
as a creator who gets the same questions A LOT (seriously, i dont mind the engagement of course but sometimes i wish people would do a linus and read the comments...) having AI generated canned responses to common questions would be so helpful. right now i either spend a frankly absurd amount of time typing out the same thing that is already said under the same video upwards of 20 times... or i just ignore it because i can't be bothered and people end up not being helped... Will bad actors use this as a tool to prey and unsuspecting vulnerable people? for sure but as both linus and luke point out, the tools aren't anything new, and if a bad actor wants to do that, they can do it already and i suspect most people who would want to do that aren't sitting around waiting for TH-cam to integrate it's own systems for this and rather have their own stuff to do this with. while making is easily accessible to creators will allow us to make use of these tools too.
TH-cam comments are dead. It's hard to have discussion about anything without it shadow deleting your comments. I've given up, I use to have long discussion on youtube with people. But now it's impossible.
@@deralfenderson It feels like really basic keywords trigger it. I swear anytime I use the wort "puritan" in regards to describing youtbue my comment is gone.
@@AzaIndustriesI've started copying my entire comments and pasting them into my notes app. If it gets deleted or I can't see it (and I assume it got shadow deleted), I just wait a while and post it again with slightly different wording. If you do it too quick it'll flag you as spam. Found that out the hard way...
That's what I've been doing in the past...years. Charile/cr1tikal and Louis Rossmann has noticed and talked about this way back, and it's still haunting us to this day.
I think a lot of it is LTT's own settings for the comment section. While I can't name any of them off the top of my head, I'm sure I interract with other channels where the life robbing shadow banning of comments isn't as much of a problem. Why life robbing? Because I've essentially had minutes of my limited lifetime stolen if I've put time and effort into a comment only for it to be hidden from view. So, theft.
I can't watch this without timestamps. Gives me anxiety not to know when they are going to stop the tangents and fillers or when they are going to X topic (that I may or not want to hear about) I'll come back later xD

I love that i was finally able to watch a WAN show live (UK)
@@MrEcosystem-AM Also UK but missed it as wasn't expecting it so early.
Not sure if haven't slept or just woke up with the priests.
It's disgusting to see.
is what it is man, we can always just go outside and do things like we use to do.
Yeah, everything you said is reasonable.
The problem is that the people in charge at youtube care only about the shareholder perspective.
They are going to take every chance they get to extract as much investment capital and short term profit as possible as long as the AI bandwagon has not yet barreled over the cliff.
They'll find a way to put a paywall on it, don't worry. Why do you think they're heavily pushing channels to enable paid subscriptions.
lol AI to feed youtube and remove the creators / people! i love it! 😂😂😂
If people watch it, there is no limit to the level of crap they will produce. Human made shorts are already absolute trash and people cannot consume enough of it. This enshittification of "content" will never end as long as people keep watching.
The latency in this remote is incredible. It’s like a normal conversation. Well done.
The joys of Discord.
@@kodywillnauer9422 I'd like to believe it's Dan just being a amazing producer by perfectly delaying Luke's input and video
Indeed. Except in a very unexpected twist of fate, I hear Luke loud and clear, and wish Linus was a little louder.
@@RYRY1002 they patched in via discord for audio only?
And yet, major news networks have multiple second delays on remotes these days. Embarrassing.
Because you create content at a far slower place.

I’m surprised they can ship it to Europe for that little actually.
This audio's giving 2014 WAN show energy.
glad I am not the only one feeling old wan linus because the auto lol (he also seems in a better mood than the last few years XD )
I like how the second Linus left the curse of talking while muted got transferred over to Dan.
@@jonevansauthor this is super accurate, was looking for this comment. Luke is 100% right with his take I don’t know what Linus is on about.
Literally there are videos where there are no comments and no like to dislikes, how is anyone supposed to know if you are wasting your time with the video or not
Would love to see a podcast / wan show spin off with just Luke and Dan talking more technical stuff, they have such a good rapport / vibe.
What happens with these AI tools is that content on the internet is going to be homogenized and diluted as the unique human creativity leaves it.
It would be "exactly" like Hollywood...
Someone creates a hit movie .. and then you start getting sequels.. "Police Academy" comes to mind....
They repeat the "idea" at teh expense of creativity (new ideas)
or "everyone else comes in with their take on the "new genre" (Harry Potter comes to mind.. )
It does not surprise me one bit that Dan dropped an immaculate Fifth Element reference in daily conversation. Still one of my favorite movies of all time.

Love The Wan Show and absolutely no front to Linus, but can we get a Dan and Luke segment every show. (because there not the company owners etc.) This comment is the partition for that :)
1:20:15 😂 the fact that he bleeps swears and one finally got through makes it so much funnier
Hahahahahah
Linus’s rant about small creators actually makes sense. On Twitch I tend to not enjoy streamers with huge audiences. I enjoy streams with less than 200 viewers. Not for the parasocial aspect or establishing a “relationship”, but I enjoy what feels like a more informal setting where the streamer feels less constrained. It’s like watching a band in a gigantic auditorium vs a small coffee shop. You don’t expect the band to know who you are or remember your face, but the small setting just feels more impactful.
I was sitting here with TH-cam open all day and it didn't notify me of WAN show, thanks TH-cam.
Don’t blame TH-cam for a you issue!

The fact that anybody at all cares about shorts just shows how effed humanity is
I get served an AI video every now and then, and every time I do, I click the back button and select "don't recommend this channel".
Yea, the dead internet theory is barely a technological hop away. We're seeing it already
Where is the Timestamp Guy . Bring him back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and employ him!
What headset is Linus using? Sounds not bad. Looks sick too
More AI generated content for shorts...great, just what humanity needed.
Buying merch to get people in on Floatplane is a solid idea to keep people in and maybe someday become the new TH-cam.

1 month of Floatplane as a Bonus Bin item???
as a creator who gets the same questions A LOT (seriously, i dont mind the engagement of course but sometimes i wish people would do a linus and read the comments...)
having AI generated canned responses to common questions would be so helpful. right now i either spend a frankly absurd amount of time typing out the same thing that is already said under the same video upwards of 20 times... or i just ignore it because i can't be bothered and people end up not being helped...
